Within 2 days they were at our home at 8am ready to prep and paint, the job was done with in a day & a half. they were very professional and so easy to work with, the place was spotless after they left. I had referred Allie to another family member, who wanted some work done, again Allie was on top of that as well. It's so nice to work with someone who so nice and professional, not easy to find that today but with Allie you will always get the best service! We are very happy with Allie and her team & with Fresh Coat Painters as a Company, I would highly recommend them to anyone, we will be using them again in the future for sure. Jill J.

They did such a great job, I had them paint a bedroom and two bathrooms in my home. They use Hirshfield's paint, which provides gorgeous color and coverage. One bathroom was a dark, slate gray and another an eye-watering turquoise (my selections from a long time ago). The light gray they are now is gorgeous. My painter was neat, professional, and carefully protected carpet in the bedroom. I highly recommend FreshCoat Painters!

Do NOT HIRE this company. I have hired them twice. I should have known better from the first…read moreexperience. I thought it was an anomaly. Both projects were a disaster. The first project was to paint a small bedroom ceiling. The painters arrived on the first day, left for lunch, and never returned. Two days later, one of the painters showed up unannounced. He sprayed the ceiling poorly and completely ignored spot-treating a water stain, all in the quote. He left for lunch and never returned until the next day. We had to have another company at our home painting the entire main level, and repaint the ceiling to fix the terrible job. We felt like we dodged a bullet. We were planning on having Slavic complete the whole project. BUT Nick Slavik's advertising keeps showing up in my mailbox EVERY WEEK! And it's impossible that a company that markets so well, is this successful AND IS CONSISTENTLY performing poor work, RIGHT?. I'll try them again. The second job was to enamel the wood trim, windows, four closet doors, and the inside of the bedroom door. I walked through our home and showed the estimator that all the other doors in the house were caulked and enameled--some from the original builder and others from a different painting contractor in the past 2 years. I also retrieved the paint cans with codes for the ceiling paint and enamel previously used at the estimator's request. He took photos of the cans' labels with the paint codes and type. Not that it mattered, but they used what they wanted from another retailer anyway. Unbelievable! Why ask? By the way, we had previously used Benjamin Moore. From the start, things went south. They wanted to get our project on a schedule/calendar, and we agreed on the start date. Then, two or three emails arrived asking to start earlier, and I agreed. Later, they changed it to another day, and finally, another email, and the original day was planned. Nick Slavic Painting did a horrendous job! Be prepared! Inexperienced painters, who I am assuming are told to "get in and get out!" They did not putty nail holes in any of the wood trim. Before I stopped counting, I counted at least 13-14 nail holes in the wood trim. They left unfilled cracks in the wood trim and only sprayed one coat instead of two. One day, standing out on our deck while they were painting the windows, still hung, another first. I've never seen a painter not remove the windows to paint them. I noticed they had missed the entire top of the windows--something I would not have seen until summer, while on the deck above. A company that wants to cash a check and not care if the job was done correctly or not! Get ready for one excuse after another when they start, all the way to the end. And you better not pay them before you are 100% happy. Nick doesn't care! Also, you should expect their painters to stand around for two hours at the end of the day to get their hours logged while doing nothing. Time that could have been spent doing better work! I repeat! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! In response to Nick's Response: The same people who made me chase them around for an answer or solution to your poor workmanship for 2 weeks? The same estimator who walked through the home, pointing out all the caulked doors on his first visit? Someone has a problem with the truth. I was respectful and patient with you, project coordinator, painters, and estimator throughout the fiasco. It wasn't until you made me chase and chase to get a resolution, all while you held up a complete lower-level remodeling project. Your answer was, "Read your contract". I have been in business for 39 years. I would never dream of treating a customer like Nick and his team treated me.

Now onto the the actual work. I contacted them months ago for some estimates and Jim/Virgil was great to work with. He came out as requested and gave fair estimates for both drywall work, replacement stairs, and ceiling work. He even came out a second time to give an estimate for some replacement siding. The drywall crew consisted of two guys who spent a few days working on a small section in the basement, they made sure to make things look their best and did a decent job cleaning up each night. They were polite and always listening to my feedback. 5 stars there. The siding guy came out and replacement some cedar shakes on the side of the house that were missing from an old deck removal. He did a great job and cleaned up the worksite very nice. I was impressed with the speed. Again 5 stars. Jim himself came out for the ceiling work, he did a great job hooking up the electric and making sure the panels lined up to the existing grid. Again 5 stars. My only gripe was the billing, Their online system worked, but I think some deposits I made were just lost. Regardless they eventually took care of it... so updating my review to reflect this. Thank you, I for sure recommend them for contracting work, just double check the bills before paying. =)

Our painting foreman was friendly, professional, and very patient. The crew did a great job prepping and painting. Our building now looks fresh and sophisticated. Meetings with the color consultant weren't properly coordinated, color instructions weren't communicated to the crew, and paint availability wasn't confirmed before work began. We were told two rooms would be completed first so we could continue working from home, yet after two weeks those rooms still weren't finished, leaving both of us displaced from our offices. Communication Communication between the project manager, color consultant, crew lead, and painters was consistently poor. Rooms were painted before repairs were completed, vents were painted despite being told not to, and repairs we had specifically paid for were ignored because the crew was never informed they were included in the contract. During the estimate, we were given a checklist covering the various phases of the project, which made the company appear organized and professional. We later learned those checklists were apparently not being utilized. We had to repeatedly chase down the original project manager and escalate the issue just to get a pre-project meeting. Despite asking multiple times, he could not provide us with a clear schedule or even the order in which rooms would be completed during the first week. Quality Quality control was extremely disappointing. Nearly every room required multiple rounds of rework due to visible patches, dents, sloppy painting, and unfinished repairs. Even their own project manager routinely identified rooms as incomplete, yet the crew continued moving on to new rooms instead of finishing the existing ones. We ultimately requested that the original crew be removed because both the quality and productivity were unacceptable. Instead of M. Carlson managing the project, my wife and I spent hours every day supervising the crew, documenting issues, and meeting with the project manager. What was supposed to be a convenient professional service became a major disruption to our work and home life. The crew also repeatedly left and re-entered the house throughout the day, sometimes as many as 43 times. Bait and Switch Before signing the contract, we were assured that problem areas--including stair patches, bathroom water damage, and cracks around windows and doors--would be addressed. After work began, we were told that many of these issues either couldn't be fixed or were outside the scope of work. It felt like the promises made during the sales process changed once the contract was signed. Promises Made Were Not Promises Kept Interactions with management made matters worse. We were essentially told to accept the results because our home wasn't a multi-million-dollar property and that we should only expect "fresh paint," despite paying for wall repairs and premium services. We also received inaccurate explanations about paint products and encountered attempts to charge us for work that was included in the original estimate. Safety and Damages Safety was also a serious concern. At one point, a stair handrail was reinstalled using only two screws instead of its proper mounting brackets. This created a hazardous situation in which my pregnant wife nearly fell. The crew also damaged the ceiling in the stairwell, and M. Carlson would not accept responsibility. Their own checklist states that before-and-after photos should be taken, which should have provided an easy way to determine whether the damage existed beforehand. Take the Money and Run M. Carlson repeatedly asked us for a fresh start and the opportunity to prove they could finish the job properly. Then, without any meaningful communication with us, they packed up and left. Hours later, we received an email stating they would not be completing the project. That communication did not address the financial situation. We had paid 50% up front, yet the project was nowhere near 50% complete--and that doesn't account for the ceiling damage, unsafe handrail, or extensive rework that remained. Overall, this felt like a budget-quality paint job sold at a premium price. The poor communication, inconsistent craftsmanship, repeated rework, broken expectations, safety concerns, and constant need for homeowner oversight made this one of the most frustrating contractor experiences we've had. Why hire M. Carlson when the company appears to function primarily as a sales organization that subcontracts the actual painting work, yet fails to adequately manage the quality, communication, and pace of that work?
