I contacted the nail salon via messenger, and they said to come in and that they would fix it. When I arrived at the nail salon, however, they were very rude and acted with no professionalism. We both went together and I could just tell even from across the salon that she was getting botched nails. The lady rushed through them and did even double check to see if they were straight or not. She was very aggressive, and cut my sisters finger. She left crying and we had to go to another salon to get them fixed. Dirty. They apply acrylics so thick & don't let primer dry so it burns your finger tips for days (excessive application is soo bad to be soaked up through nail bed) Almost going to take them off and it's only been a day. I was running them under cold water whenever I could. Never cleaned station or let me wash hands in the session, acrylic powder and dust was everywhere even on my freshly painted nails. Staff never even talked to me really or looked at me. Yes, doing my nails never having looked me in the eye to say anything or crack a smile and say hi or bye. ***Update: My no-chip lasted 7 days before it started lifting off my nails and chipping and my pedicure lasted 12 days before it started to chip. What a giant waste.*** Worst nail experience ever. If I could give negative stars I would. Tricked me into getting a "classic" pedicure by showing me a book with options. I said I wanted a regular classic pedicure which she charged me $40 for. I've never in my life paid that much for a pedicure. She used a green menthol cream on my skin and covered my legs with hot towels. By the time she removed them my skin hurt so bad the massage portion that followed (which is normally my favorite part) wax almost unbearable. I couldn't stand her touching me. She cut my toe nails too short and left polish all over my skin. Now for the manicure: She made my cuticles bleed three separate times in three separate places- twice with the nippers and once with the large orange buffer. She finally apologized after the buffer one. My nails are not filed straight. They're all different lengths. They insisted they didn't have the color I wanted in No chip and tried to push me to do dip (even with bloody nails-super sanitary). Finally they found a color similar in some cabinet. All in I paid $80 for an awful experience ($35 no chip, $40 "classic" pedicure, and $5 extra for a heart I wanted on ONE of my fingers). I just moved to the area from Chicago and have never paid that much... even in high dollar suburbs. Side note: they have something on their menu hanging on the wall that says "pedicure & no chip $48" they tried to tell me that meant if you got no chip on your toes. Sure. The one woman working there (without a customer at the time) was asking why the lady next to me wasn't working and said "no one works on Mondays anymore?!" I ignored her. The customer was so uncomfortable and replied that she had been responding to emails the whole time she had been there. Then this employee started commenting on this woman's weight and how she looked good. She even asked her if she had been on a scale. She was incredibly rude. They also told this same customer that her toe nails were too long and fought her on the oval nail shape she wanted. I'll never go back. Don't waste your time or money. read more

I've been to Pro Nails in the past, but honestly I don't even remember the experience. I had my typical full set acrylic with tips and gel polish done at Diamond Nails in Valparaiso, Indiana and had a quite unpleasant experience. When I needed a new set, I knew I needed to try a new place. I made an appointment with Pro Nails. When I came in I was quickly greeted and when asking me what I wanted I told my nail tech that I wanted to remove my previous set of acrylic tips and apply a full new set. She recommended just removing my tips and simply using my real nails (they were long enough) and applying acrylic to them. We did so and I was so happy with the outcome. I showed her a color of the nails I wanted and she did it perfectly! Overall, I was so happy with Pro Nails and I will now only be going to them. She was told to be quiet and not communicate their preferences on how to have their nails done because the technician "knows what she is doing". I really don't like giving a negative review because I have been coming here for 6 years with no problems. The employees were very busy but wait time was 5 minutes so that's a plus. Pedicure water was too hot and I had to take my feet out and wait for it to cool. Okay not a big deal for me but someone who has skin sensitivity or who has poor reflexes could get burned. What did bother me was the employee acted as if it was a chore to adjust the temperature. The pedi was okay. Getting up to walk over to the manicure chair I had to ask the employee to give me my cane because she had taken it. As I walked away several employees started laughing. So the busier thus place got, the service declined. When you get a manicure you should get a hand massage. Last Thursday I went to this salon for a gel fill and french manicure. This weekend I noticed a green spot on my thumb nail. Today, Tuesday, I look down and now have another green spot on my pointer finger. In all my years having artificial nails, I have NEVER had a nail fungus. I would avoid this salon at all costs. I am horrified that I now have to deal with this. Also, when I went into the salon the owner argued with me and kept insisting that they do pink & white acrylic instead of painting my french manicure on with gel polish. Just moved to area a couple months ago. Looking for new place for me and this was definitely not the one. Kept trying to sell me something besides what I wanted. Then I said I usually just get stiletto nails. Of course $5 extra. Fine it will be worth it if it looks great. My nails shouldn't be wider then my finger. When I asked her to make skinner she sighed. Nope. Never again. My daughters and I have been coming in off and on for years. If we don't go to Pro, we love Cosmos in Valpo. Made an appt for 3 manicures (2 dip and 1 full set w/ design) and they were super busy, as usual. My daughter got told that they couldn't do a design (zebra print) because of time/ difficulty, which was disappointing since Cosmos did the same exact design for her previously. So, my daughter opted for dip instead. While she was picking out her color, he pulled my other daughter to his station and started filing down her nails. She was getting a dip mani, had her color chosen, and reminded him that she wanted to add tips. He said he didn't have time to do that and told her to stand up and wait by the door with the other 6 people who were also waiting with appointments. They didn't even start my mani and now both of my daughters are standing there because they can't do what we reserved an appt for because they're too busy?? I don't get it. We left. Was coming here regularly for years since I have moved to the area and haven't had any issues until recently. last few times I got my nails done they rushed, told me the reason my nail was crooked was because of my finger and didn't listen to the length I wanted or SHAPE. Because they knew what looked better. The last full set I received from here the guy rushed and made me bleed on several occasions and filed my nails so hard that when he put the powder on my nail got super hot and he told me it was fine as I was in pain I let him do the paint on my nails so I could be done since I have been there for 3 hours and walked out of there very upset especially when they overcharged me for my full set/pedicure. Usually it would cost $90 for both since this is normally the place I come and they charged me $138. When I asked why they said it was because I got a design on my finger nail (I only got two nails a different color) and then I decided I wasn't going to come back for their services anymore. Loved this place! My husband purchased a gift certificate for a mani/pedi and I was very pleased by the service I received. Joe did my pedicure and he was very gentle and didn't go too fast (a lot of places seem to rush while doing a pedicure). He paid attention to detail and was very meticulous with the work that he did. 5 stars for Joe! Sam did my no chip manicure and he was also gentle and detailed in his work. I was able to tell him how I wanted my nail length and he did them perfectly! The owner is very sweet and has made a nice comfortable setting to get your nails done. I certainly enjoyed my "me" time away from my kiddo getting pampered while watching cooking shows on the TV's. I should also mention how clean they are here. They use liners for their pedicure tubs which made me feel so much cleaner than other places that just rinse it out between customers. I asked for gel nails quite a few times and got acrylic. Partly my fault as I don't get my nails done often and wasn't sure if I was getting what I asked for until I googled the difference. The same happened to my daughter. My nails do look pretty but I was disappointed in the fact that they used my lack of knowledge to not give me what I asked for. NOT coming back .... it was an insult to ask for something repeatedly and be told that was what I was getting when in fact I was lied to. I waited for like half an hour, showed the picture to Lynn, and she told me to have a seat. Then she helped someone else and this man came out from the back after about 10 more minutes. When I walked in I told the staff that I was allergic to acrylic and my nails were filled with a liquid gel. The people there told me ok, and to pick a color. After the tech removed my polish she reached to apply acrylic and when I pulled my hands away and said I needed the liquid gel, she pushed my hands away and said "we no do that here" When I questioned why they told me ok when I walked in, she suddenly couldn't understand what I was saying. I needed them to do something so I proceeded with the acrylic. My polish looked awful. I had two nails break in the next day. My nails never break. This place was awful. I live out of town. Love this place! I get my no chips done by Sam. He's so meticulous and has always done a great job on my nails! Pedis too! I decided to try this place again when I saw it was under new ownership. Pro Nails in Chesterton needs shut down. It is filthy in there. Tools are discusting. They reuse dirty towels for pedicures!!!! Very unfriendly group of Asians!!! They all yell and fight among their self's. I had to have my nails redone twice in two weeks and still was a horrible job with two nails broke off. Very expensive UV gel Job! I have gone here several times without a problem. Today I got a new female. First of all she was wearing a dress so she couldn't get close enough to the pedi tub and she kept turning my foot at an uncomfortable angle so it was easier for her. Then she nipped my toe with the clippers. I know she knew she did it but she didn't apologize. She went on to give me the quickest pedicure on record, several times lifting my foot out of the tub by grabbing onto my big toe. It was not relaxing in the least! I waited a long time a few days before Christmas , which was expected I didn't have an appointment, but the same night one nail broke. I returned the next day and got it fixed no charge. This place has it together when it comes to quality & cleanliness. I could not find a salon that properly applies an acrylic full set. So many salons in the area give you these thick, ugly, New Jersey looking nails. Pro Nails does it right though. My nails have acrylic but look so natural. My no chip polish looks great, each nail is shaped exactly the same & are all the same length. Lastly, this place uses disposable tub liners for their pedicures basins - can i get an Amen?! You can see from the moment you walk in and take a look around you that this place is clean. The stations are not cluttered with junk, there is not dust everywhere, the equipment, the sinks and the the floors are clean.
