With covid cancelling all the big fireworks displays, enhanced unemployment benefits and stimulus checks padding pockets in a city that hasn't had rents completely gentrified out of control - yet - and cabin fever gripping a quarantine weary populace the time was ripe for over the top displays of pyrotechnics. And as I was making more in gubbament cheese than I had been in the two jobs I was working - they really got to pay us working stiffs more decent wages - I couldn't resist dropping some dough on things that go boom and pop in the night. Indeed there was already an ample amount of empty shelf space here at XL several days before Independence Day. (Macomb County was no less enthusiastic in lighting off stuff that blows itself up than we were back in the 313, though they didn't seem to go as late into the night with it.) They still had an eye popping array of pyrotechnics though. There's nowhere near the amount of floor space here that you'll find over at Phantom but the pricing was better and not as difficult to figure out with no 2 for 1 deals intermittently laid out that make you question whether the prices weren't already jacked up enough to nullify any savings. What really struck me here was the customer service. They didn't have many people working but they were in good spirits, especially the guy wandering the sales floor engaging every single shopper. (You have to hunt for help at Phantom.) I assume he's the owner or at least the manager. Anyway, he quite plainly loves fireworks and is all too happy to discuss them in great detail with fellow enthusiasts. Like I said, I'm not super immersed in this hobby but he helped me find some colorful combustible delights. Unfortunately I had already spent a bunch at Phantom a couple days earlier and the monkey has once again on my back, so I didn't want to go too hog wild here. (I wish I would have come to XL in the first place.) I think I picked up 5 things here and the real stand-out of the bunch was Zombie Zonkers, a crackle cake (okay, I did pick up some lingo from YouTube videos) that was really in your face with crackling silver 'splosions and raining copper sparks. Even sicker to behold than the gnarly artwork on the package, I didn't have to wait 15 minutes to get up to the register like at Phantom and everyone gets a free small American flag - well at that time of the year at least - and a spin of a big wheel for a freebie. The Bloomin Flowers I got weren't the best but complaining about that isn't very sporting, is it? XL also offers to help everyone take out their fireworks to their vehicles and load them up, something you won't find at, you guessed it, Phantom. (Their two star review has practically written itself already.) In the meantime five stars cracklin in the night for XL. BOOM!

I asked him a question and he listened to what I was looking for and then made several suggestions that turned out excellent. Their prices seem really good, and it was much less of a hassle than some big places down the road. The quality was also top notch, with bright colors and no duds. My girls loved everything I picked up, and I will definitely be back here next year and for any other pyrotechnic needs. This store is fantastic!

There's quite a few things that are very worn and torn in places. I know this is a thrift store, but the merchandise should still be expected for damage. Service is hit or miss, have had very rude condescending cashiers and at other times helpful. They have a system where you are supposed to remove your own hangers from the clothes before you go up to the register. This might help if they are very busy, but I have not seen more than a few people at a time in there. It's odd when the cashier is just standing there watching you do this. Not the best shopping experience, but if you know what to expect it's fine.

We drove 45 minutes to a closed location that was never indicated during the conversation. Calling again to verify location, and stressing the need for these pieces and that we had another 30 minutes ahead of us, Andrea had no empathy to remain open atleast a couple of minutes. She continued to say we close at 7 and disregarded the fact that she and her employee caused some of this confusion by not disclosing that their previous location is closed. Her lack of empathy and taking some responsibility tells me she should not be a leader of this store or any at this time. If the item was not needed in an emergency uniform requirement, we would not have even tried to make it as I do not spend money where people have no understanding or desire to admit responsibility and do something to make things right.

I called to make an appointment as suggested when coming in and making the appointment was easy over the phone. Inside had a ton of different well known brands. Along with toilets, vanities, and especially fixtures to name a few. When I got to the appointment, the front desk ladies were very friendly. Unfortunately, that's where the friendliness ended with my visit. My sales associate, Nicole was knowledgeable, but her customer service was absolutely horrible. She gave some advice, but it felt like it would be better if I knew exactly what I wanted and she can just point me in that direction. If you're coming just to browse or get ideas, don't book with Nicole. She did not seem to have patience for me on my indecisiveness/not knowing what I wanted yet. She didn't ask my budget or much other advice or questions. She had a very condescending attitude, like I was annoying her. We went and looked at all of the different brand names. I really didn't feel like I got much design help from her. She did at least show me some of the handheld sprays in the shower area in the back of the store. I asked her for a quote list and she said she'd email it to me. We spent about an hour or little less at the appointment. By the end of the appointment, she said I hope you didn't feel rushed. Which in reality I did... I waited a few days and her email never came and I had to call the store to ask for it to be resent again. She did do a good job with emailing me back-and-forth because I had questions about the quotes and pictures she gave me. She was prompt. Definitely compare and contrast what is cheaper. I compared my selections to websites like Wayfair. The faucets and shower fixtures were cheaper from Wittock. But the accessories like towel bar, toilet holder, robe holder, etc. were cheaper through Wayfair. When I was ready to put the order in. I emailed Nicole and she gave me an order number. She told me to then call the front desk to them put the order in. Gina, who processed my order was very nice and helpful. You either can put down 1/2 of your order or the whole thing. My order took about a week or so. Except the shower faucet was a newer design and I was told it would take about three weeks. I did ask Nicole to send me some similar shower faucets that were in stock. She kind of condescendingly made a point that I didn't like any of the other in stock, shower heads. But within a few days, the showerhead I originally ordered was available. The products that I ordered were all great. They were all Delta product, so I felt like it was trusted brand. My contractor picked up our items without issue. The products are beautiful and are what I ordered.
