Please let me begin by telling you a bit about our situation. My mother-in-law (I'll call her "my MIL," for short) asked me to try yoga with her; she was interested in taking yoga for therapeutic and restorative reasons. My MIL is recovering from two major surgeries. Heidi listened very attentively to all of my MIL's concerns, did a bit of research, and derived a plan for addressing my MIL's concerns that would not only protect her from further health issues but also help her on her road to recovery. (My MIL will write her own review, so I will stop there. But, what Heidi did for her was truly wonderful.)
Of course, I happily agreed to go with my MIL when she asked. I graduated college ten years ago and was (and still try to be) a competitive swimmer. Even though we went to yoga for my MIL primarily, Heidi was able to adapt the private lesson to benefit BOTH of us. In less than fifteen lessons, I was able to touch my toes. And, I don't mean, the-tips-of-my-fingers-scraped-my-toes, I mean, I could put my hands flat on the floor. Prior to yoga with Heidi, I could reach only about half-way down my calf. In addition to increasing my flexibility, Heidi noticed that my shoulders were very tight (due to swimming) and she taught me several ways with which I could stretch my shoulders and back muscles. Also, when we began yoga, downward dog was definitely not a resting pose; by the end of fifteen lessons, downward dog was a pleasure. Heidi identified which hip of mine was tighter than the other and we worked on loosening that as well.
I very much looked forward to every single yoga class. I thank Heidi for all she did for me, and I especially thank her for all she did for my MIL. You were amazing, Heidi. I wish we hadn't moved across the country so that we could continue our lessons. It was the highlight of our week!
***** Here is my mother's-in-law review:
Prior to seeing Heidi, I watched multiple YouTube yoga videos and checked out 8 yoga video work-outs from the local library, but I quickly decided that with no yoga background and a rather rapid decline in mobility and balance, I needed professional help.
I researched online and found several yoga experts to contact. I sent each one an email explaining my situation. Heidi responded quickly, and she communicated very clearly. We exchanged several emails and she was always quite professional. She grasped my situation and spot-on addressed it.
Heidi is experienced in many types of yoga. She has a great knowledge of how the body works and responds to certain exercises and moves. She is sensitive to what you "should" be feeling so that the risk of injury is minimized. She is always calm, cheerful, encouraging; she can accurately assess what is too much and when to push for more. She, herself, continues to aggressively pursue very advanced learning and certifications.
Of course, anyone young and fit (like my daughter-in-law) will definitely benefit taking yoga with Heidi. But, I would also like to encourage people who have "limitations" - like I do - to contact her. (You are not too old, too overweight, too slow, too ill - unless the doctor has said so, of course ; ) You can do yoga. Heidi listens carefully to your goals and develops a safe, effective, individualized program. Her private yoga studio is perfect.
Our hourly lessons 3 times a week flew by. When it was time to move across the country, I realized I was saying goodbye to a precious time I will always treasure: A time where Heidi (and my daughter-in-law, bless her!) bonded with me so they could help me break out of a narrow, trembling, rigid world and regain the freedom that flexibility and full mobility bring.
Have you ever met someone so life-changing, so effective, so good that you wish you could write a review that would inspire everyone to see her? I wish I could do that for her. Heidi is very competitively priced. She went to great lengths to be sure I met my goals and then, knowing I was moving, could maintain the program in the future. I am so appreciative of and impressed with Heidi's communication - in emails and in class, her knowledge of yoga and of the human body, and her adaptability and flexibility (literally and figuratively).
Heidi, thank you. You've done more for me than you'll ever know. read more
