So I a mixed emotions on the review so giving the service 4 stars which is a combination of the…read more5-stars I would give one driver for a return trip and 2-stars I would give another drive for my initial trip. We recently requested service for a to and from trip to the airport. I reviewed the online site and the large escalade vehicles show hold 6 adults and luggage. We were leaving on a long trip and only took one bag per person so I would expect if the vehicle to hold us and our luggage and made sure I put in the notes about the number of five passengers and 5 pieces of luggage. The trip to the airport was more than uncomfortable to say the least and when the driver arrived he mentioned that he did not think we and our luggage would fit and offered no fixes or options. The luggage had to be piled to fit so that two of our passengers were crushed in a seat almost together. Then the driver got three separate calls on the trip, answering one of the calls on speaker with us in the vehicle talking to a client about finishing us up quickly so he can pick up another fair earlier than scheduled. Then he proceeded to do over 80 mph on 410 in bumper to bumper traffic to get us to the airport. When we arrived, I would usually provide extra trip over the standard 20% gratuity I had already been charged on my credit card, but did not feel the driver warranted the extra. He made sure to let me know that he was not happy about not getting extra cash and when I mentioned that 20% was already provided on my credit card charge, he informed me that "I will never see a dime of that". However, our pickup driver (thank you Javier!) was fantastic. Arrived punctually to pick us up, was very communicative about getting us with the least amount of walking. He helped with luggage and in/out of vehicle. He drove well and within the speed limits, he was conversational and very personable and did a great job. Would ask for him again and again. So you can understand my mixed emotions with this review and trying to be objective to allow Javier to redeem this rating. Thank you Javier. 12/28 Follow-up: Wow. I had planned a full day of activities (all COVID compliant, wearing masks, distancing, etc) and needed someone to drive us from place to place as we don't have a car here. Google searches didn't turn up many options other than atxprivatecar services which quoted me $600 for the day- as much as I love my boyfriend and wanted him to have a very special bday, $600 is a lot of money to spend on someone driving us around. The only reason we needed this service is because some locations were in Fredericksburg (wineries) and a 75 minute drive out of Austin with limited Uber/lyfts that far out. I turned to Yelp and am SO happy I did bc that is where I found Josh! I sent a message to three businesses' and Josh was the first to reply at an unbeatable price point (actually unbeatable- no one else could match). He was super responsive, communicative and friendly. Day of- he was five minutes early to our pickup location, was very considerate and prepared (hand sanitizer, asked us what music we want in advance, the like) and a very safe driver. His car is very clean and so comfortable. He was also super flexible when we ran a little late and needed an extra hour added. Josh is also extremely socially aware- during our day long excursion, he was really great at joining the convo whether it be to offer some good food recommendations for us, or informing us on what animals we would see during the drive (yes we're all city folk and didn't know the difference between sheep's/goats) but never intruding or talking our ear off (the opposite actually!). I really appreciated that he was so helpful, friendly and informative, but never annoying, too chatty or intrusive. It was the perfect mix and it's a real life skill that many do not possess - Josh does. We all noted that to each other after on just how great he was ! Not safe for an 86 year old woman recovering from hip replacement surgery. We essentially paid for a very $$$$$ expensive Uber ride. The driver was a nice gentleman and he delivered mom safely. We had to pay for this service privately from our mom's fixed income because it's not covered by insurance. I spoke with case manager today from rehabilitation facility where my mom was transferred from, he confirmed that he in fact can confirmed with Everyday Health that this would be a wheelchair van transport and he was assured it would be. He and his staff were as shocked as we were when the driver showed up in a minivan. If I would have known this would be the service we would receive for my 86 year old mom post total hip replacement, I would have done it myself.
