This office park used to be the research and development headquarters of IBM in 1970. It contains architecturally iconic historical buildings created by Marcel Breuer in the 1960s. The first IBM personal computer was invented here along with the first smartphone. This campus was at the forefront of early robotics technology and other tech inventions. Rocket is the creation of Virginia artist Hubert Phipps who is well known for his abstract sculptures and paint pigment drawings He is also a champion race car driver and aviator. He took inspiration for Rocket from his love of aero dynamic forms. First he drew the model and created it out of clay. It was then rendered in 3D using Maya, a software modeling program. The rocket design is meant to represent the intersection of science and art while celebrating modern engineering. The 30-foot, 9.8 ton corrosive resistant stainless steel rocket was manufactured in 2019 at the Tany Foundry in Hangzhou, China. From there it experienced several Covid related delays crossing the Pacific Ocean and traveling through the Panama Canal before arriving 8,000 miles away in Boca Raton through a partnership with the Boca Raton Museum of Art and developer CP Group. The rocket sculpture is valued at 1.5 million dollars will be here for a five year loan period. I loved discovering this public art. The park like setting adds even more beauty to the sculpture. Hubert Phipps' 30-foot stainless steel sculpture "Rocket" traveled over 8,000 miles to arrive as the new centerpiece at Boca Raton Innovation Campus, 5000 T-Rex Ave. Inspired by the artist's love of aerodynamic forms, the steel sculpture's full-scale fabrication began in 2019 at the Tany Foundry in Hangzhou, China. "The sculpture by Hubert Phipps was conceived as that intersection between art and science, and celebrates the heroics of modern engineering, as also seen in Marcel Breuer's historic building designs for IBM's North American Research and Development Headquarters," said Irvin Lippman, the Executive Director of the Boca Raton Museum of Art. The theater was uncomfortably hot--around 80 degrees--from the start of the movie. We notified staff immediately and were told we would receive a credit for the inconvenience. Based on that information, we stayed and sat through the entire movie. At no point were we told that we needed to leave the theater to receive a refund or credit. After the movie, Manager Alex was dismissive, rude, and condescending. Rather than acknowledging the confusion, he insisted that everyone had been told they could leave for a refund, which was not what we were told. Had that been clearly communicated, we could have made a different decision. What was most disappointing was the lack of customer service. A sincere apology or simple goodwill gesture would have gone a long way. Instead, I left feeling ignored and unappreciated despite being a loyal customer for more than a decade.

There was an exhibition on Japanese Bridal Kimonos, Japan's efforts in American wars, and a model 16th century tea house with a very informative diagram explaining the traditions and build out. The gift shop had so many cool things bookmarks, Japanese candy, art, keep sakes, clothes, and so much more. Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens is unforgettable.

We spent our time visiting the Japanese gardens. It was excruciatingly hot the day we visited. We were glad for the frequent benches to stop and rest. We enjoyed the beauty of the various gardens. Especially liked the bamboo grove as my husband got to explain to a few folks a bit about bamboo and the ingenuity of his grandfather using bamboo on his farm in Georgia as irrigation conduits. The sign saying don't carve the bamboo next to a carved stalk was ironic... In addition to the various plant gardens, there were the rock gardens, the waterfalls, and the pine forest. Liked seeing the koi fish and turtles. Another highlight was the bonsai exhibit. Throughout the winding path, there were stone lanterns and small wooden huts. At the entrance to the area with the original 1977 museum is a laughing Buddha statue of Hotei, the god of happiness. Smaller than expected, you might miss it the first time you pass by. As a caveat, prepare for lots of walking. Wear comfortable shoes, a hat or carry a parasol, sunglasses. They have a couple areas with steps, but there is an alternative "easier" path for strollers or handicapped. And if possible, come when it's cooler. I'm glad we walked the entire perimeter. But for someone very much out of shape, I know I'll be feeling my achy muscles. I'm glad we got this brief glimpse into the history and culture of the Japanese in South Florida. It's one of the most distinctive tourist attractions in our area.

The staff and the visitors to the museum treated me with Royalty. They taught me how to read the art and to appreciate the art, artists. And how much art means to the world. Just to be associated with The Boca Raton Museum of Art made me feel like a Super Star. Patriot would come and ask to speak with me me. The Directors Frank Borge and Caroline put a lot of trust in me. Caroline had me modeling for the artists. Sometimes when the Darcie " Teaches of the Art" was busy. Sometimes of the patriots would ask me to do the tours. Every Wedsday night, a different bank in Boca Raton would sponsor a banquet at the Museum. Bank Presidents would come and ask for me to assist in what they needed. And Frank and Caroline trusted me enough to do the right thing. I don't know how to explain how this made me feel and the confidence it gave me. See, in my High School years I was told I was too dumb to live in this world. Now, I was in the Military, worked in Law Enforcement. But, I still had that stigma in the back of my head that I was dumb. Now, I was a leader in the Military and Law Enforcement. But, even though you have to think, guide the troops, make sure they got the right training and be safe. A lot was physical demanding work. So I didn't know how to appreciate that work like I should. But, when I started at Boca Raton Museum of Arts. The mental stimulation , the trust they put in me was unbelievable to me. Sometimes, when things get a little to busy. And someone needed something done. I would often hear Frank, Caroline and other staff the patriots, vendors and staff. " Ask Albert" he knows what to do". That trust along made me not question their judgment. I just stepped in and did what I was taught by them, staff and the Darcies. I met a lot of interesting people that welcomed me to the art world. I can't draw, paint, sculpture or any of those crafts. But, The Boca Raton Museum of Arts. The citizen of Boca Raton had me trained like I was a professional of the arts. I met Dorothy Glimpses, Rajas, Jerry Wise in person. I was sad when I had to leave. I even modeled for the professional arts and the amateurs. Calvin Campbell a renown water colors did a couple of paintings of me. I still have one he and the museum gave me. I will post on the site. Pardon me! I had some names wrong. I mention a Frank Borge. The name is George Borge, who was the CEO/Director of the Boca Raton Museum. Frank is actually " Richard Frank" who was on the Director's team and a resident Arts. And I forgot to mention Mrs. Ginsberg, who was one of the Darcie, she was 91 yo. She taught me a lot about reading the art and trying to read the story that the artist was telling. I would take her to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping. And on weekends pick her up on Saturdays and Sundays take her to the Museum. I even supervised the tile painting that the children would do for the floor in the children department of new Nordstrom stores. At the time Nordstrom was opening in the Wellington Green Mall of Wellington. Each time a new Nordstrom opens Jerry Wise conducts a tile painting session for a week. The children in the surrounding area will Paige tiles. Then Jerry Wise, who is a famous horticulturist that oversees the Nordstrom Museum in the state of Washington. Take the tiles back to Washington, coat and bake them. He then lay them in the new Nordstrom store.

We had an amazing time this year at the Florida Renaissance Festival we were so sad to see it end…read morebut totally had a blast for all the days the weekends you were here. People put so much work and effort into this festival. We totally appreciate it. The things we love about the Florida Renaissance Festival is you feel like you've been lifted out of this regular world into a whole new place and everybody makes that happen that works there. The beautiful ambience of the park the decor all around, the awesome artworks that people create, the costumes. The music is one of my all-time favorites. It's part of the reason why I come here every year. Also you can try so many different types of foods that's always so exciting. I love dressing up, wearing costumes and walking through the park talking with other like-minded people. We enjoyed so many shows this year from the Washing Well Winches, to the guy playing the Bells, all the different Irish bands, like Celtic mayhem, one of my favorites is the band from Italy Rota they are awesome especially when they play in the street and we can dance all around so fun. What an amazing event! It was like stepping back into time and into fairy tale stories! I saw medieval characters, gladiators & knights, pirates, fairies and nymphs, even a wizard! And of course with a costume contest. Quiet Waters Park was converted into a story book. Unique performances with music, comedy, drama, juggling dancing and with interaction like the Maypole. Also jousting and horsriding competitions and cannon & trebuchet firing.There was Archery, Axe throwing, a maze, sword fighting and instruction, cobbling, jewelry making. A variety of activities for kids as well as adults. Especially adults who want to be kids...like me! Lol Souvenir shops with items that you don't see every day, like a dragon egg candle that once melted reveals a baby dragon just like in Game of Thrones! Also good food and drinks throughout the park. I didn't think I would spend that much time here but I spent the entire day practically without even realizing time had passed! A great time to immerse yourself in a world of fantasy, merriment & amazement! I truly enjoyed everything here!
