The front desk staff is always really nice, and the trainers seem awesome overall. I can definitely recommend mine, Will. He's knowledgeable, astute, goal-focused, and encouraging. It also feels like a genuinely respectful space. I haven't seen anyone leering or acting like a jerk - quite the opposite. And people are good about reracking weights and wiping down equipment. Parking can be a little bit of a situation at times, and people sometimes seem to wait around for spots for some reason, but there's actually plenty of parking diagonally across the street in the garage. Street parking is also often free or just a couple of bucks, so it's very manageable once you know the options. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great vibe, great trainers, and solid equipment. There's even a hot tub in the locker room. It's not a polished, spa-looking place, but honestly that's part of the charm. I'd much rather deadlift somewhere with personality than in a lifeless beige box.

Typically I'm here to swim laps and take water aerobics, so can't comment on the gym classes or equipment. Itzel teaches water aerobics M-W_F at 9am and her classes are packed largely due to her energy and the workout everyone gets. It's hard to keep a class fresh when it's three times a week, but Itzel manages to keep everyone engaged with excellent, varied music, exercises, and her smile and energy. For lap swimming, this is my favorite pool because it's much longer than the other LA Fitness locations At 25 meters vs 25 yards, which really makes a difference. There are 3 lanes, which swimmers split, and rarely do you have to wait for a lane unless you want to swim at 10am on M-W-F right after water aerobics when many people stay in the pool to continue their workouts. The showers, sauna and locker rooms are relatively clean. I say relatively, because it depends on the volume and the cleanliness of those using these spaces. I will say the woman who cleans the ladies locker room works her bitt off and is always sanitizing and wiping things clean.

I called corporate tried to reason with them nobody would work with me they were supposed to take the payments out on the 4th of the month and they took them out on the 20th. Athletes were happy to chat and introduced themselves and everyone was so strong! There were people powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and a couple of strongman athletes. The neighborhood and streets nearby had plenty of parking spots, and I grabbed a spot right in front of the gym entrance. Head Coach Jabo was very attentive with his athletes, and was giving cues and advice about programming, adjusting the reps, sets, and weights when necessary, and providing moral support and encouragement. He gave me several cues that completely changed the feeling of each of the lifts for me, and communicated these cues in a way that helped me understand but not overthink. A couple of my top sets of the clean and jerk felt more smooth than ever thanks to his coaching. You can tell this gym has a close knit community of athletes and coaches who trust each other and perform exceptionally. Highly recommend for anyone, and especially Olympic weightlifters!

For folks new to LA fitness, I would avoid entering any GRIP raffles for personal training if you're familiar with your own body's way of working out or have a strong sense of athleticism. Some truly wonderful graffiti/urban art in the surrounding area. I digress. So this place is located inside of a modernish residential building. You would not know there is a SPA inside unless you actually go into the establishment, get checked in, and take the elevator up to the actual SPA. There you will see two nicely sized hot tubs and a cold plunge tub. Be warned that cold plunge is COLD! Opposite the tubs are the dry sauna and steam room which are HOT and the steam room is steamy! It does not take long to get a good sweat going, and before you know it you can feel the toxins and bad juju just melting away. They several types of water to re-hydrate room temp and cold water and sparkling water. I do believe I saw some plates that had oranges or apples or something of the sort. There is a wonderful outdoor relaxation deck with lots of lounge chairs and tables to take breaks in between soak, sauna, and steam. This deck area overlooks a portion of the Portland city scape and highway. What made this deck enjoyable for me was waxing existential about what the folks in the cars driving by on the freeway might be thinking as you head back for a second dip into the hot tub. The SPA, locker and shower, and changing areas are all thoroughly maintained, clean, and give you everything you need to transition back into the Portland Urban. Think 24 Hour Fitness, but make it wellness. Hot tub, steam, sauna... clean, simple, and the staff are genuinely great. No complaints there. But the experience itself? It's just... basic. Cascada, on the other hand, is a whole different level. The comparison honestly feels like Spirit vs Delta, Holiday Inn vs The Ritz, Nissan vs Lexus. Once you've experienced that level of intention, design, and atmosphere, it's hard to go back. Knot Springs isn't bad, it's just not that. If you're looking for a straightforward soak, it'll do the job. But if you're chasing an elevated, immersive wellness experience... you might leave wanting more.
