...and...
I managed to find the only "real" cupcake shop in the entire city. When I learned that Robin W had NEVER tried this cutesy "delicacy" we made a beeline for Wir Machen Cupcakes, and did away with that little problem forever!
Now don't worry, surely I'm going to try all the wonderful Bavarian desserts and pastries...at least a bite of each. I promise. But, cupcakes called and we answered. It's not inauthentic, it's research. We had to go and make sure this stuff was the real deal. Well I did, since Robin wouldn't have known...but you get the idea.
And I am here to attest: the cupcakes at Wir Machen are EXCELLENT.
A bit of backstory: I don't even really LOVE cupcakes. I get the idea, I love sweets...etc, etc. But I could never really get down with the trendy cupcake thing in the states. Sure I've enjoyed a cupcake or two (or 50) in my day and I'd never turn one down, but I was never one to be all drooly wooly (fanatical) over them. Honestly, a bit too sweet. That was always my complaint...
Well, Wir Machen made my dreams come true...as Germans aren't as prone to the overly-sweet tastes of Americans/Aussies, etc, they tempered the recipe. And I am here to divulge, it's RIGHT on the money.
I had the coconut flake cupcake, and it was dreamy. Soft, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, perfectly portioned. Have mercy, really. I will go back and try some others. The shop itself is beyond adorable with a chic comfortable vibe. It is quite small though, so be warned. 4 chairs and 2 small tables...I'm sure in the summer months the sidewalk is fair game as well. They also serve coffee, of course.
It would be the perfect treat to sit here with a mini cake and espresso for just a few minutes to stop time. It would.
German cupcakes. Can and will be done, here. Approved. Price a little over 3euro/each.
Oh, and Robin obviously approves of his first cupcake...you can read his review for more. You're welcome Mr. W!
