This place has it all; creamy cheese, hard cheese, smoked cheese, goat cheese, rosemary infused cheese, sharp and mild cheese, round cheese, square cheese, you get the picture... My husband who is normally somewhat indifferent about his cheese tastes tried a smoked cow cheese and said it was the best thing he'd ever eaten. The store itself is set amidst München in all its glory and beauty and the inside is a feast for the eyes. There are cheeses everywhere in all various shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors. Sadly we could not taste or buy them all, but we sure did want to! The prices are high; ok quite high, but one taste and your salivary glands will convince your wallet to pay up for the goods. The cheeses travel in their sealed wrappers and stay fresh for a significant time (not that they will last that long). When we entered Cheese & More we also found the shop employee (aka cheese expert) to be quite friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and speak English and German. This little cheese store is worth stopping in and trying; your charcuterie board will be happy you did so.

I understand we can bring out gourmet picnic from the market to the beer hall, and enjoy my meal with a cold brew. However, by the end of the day after 20,000 + steps my feet hurt, I'm tired & just want to be served. The Viktualienmarkt developed from an original farmers' market in 1807 to a popular market for gourmets. There are now 140 stalls and shops offering flowers, exotic fruit, game, poultry, spices, chocolates, wines & cider, pastries, cheese, fish, juices....

I took a picture of my liter Mass standing with several other people. Later I had tea and a pistachio croissant at the nearby Eataly, a Keberkaessemmel at the A. Klobeck Metzgerai and a small craft gift at the Kunst & Handwerk shop of Peter Urban, all ringing the Viktualienmarkt. There is something for everyone at the Viktualienmarkt.

Warning: The proprietors speak very, very little English. We managed to order a cheese and charcuterie board between their limited English and our limited German and it was just the best. They were so kind and hospitable, and the cheese, charcuterie and dessert were fresh, delicious, and perfectly paired. This is a WIN! Don't eat at any of those touristy places near the castles, go off the beaten path a bit and give Kasehaus a try... you won't regret it!
