I was a little hesitant when buying rooms here but the hotel wasnt that bad. Right on the beach we got beautiful sunrise and sunset views. The rooms weren't bad and we had an interior balcony that was located right across from the indoor pool. Customer service was good and the barista in the starbucks was everything. The ONLY THING that made this experience not so great was the indoor pool. We went in the evening and placed our stuff down on some the seats and saw roaches . Far enough from the boardwalk chaos to actually hear the waves, close enough to hit the action when you want. It's like your aunt's beach condo got a moderate update in 2015. Oceanfront suites rock killer views and kitchenettes (hello, midnight snacks). Standard rooms are... well, standard. Clean? Yes. Instagram-worthy? Maybe with good filters. Recently stayed here April 2025, to celebrate my 42nd birthday. I did this trip solo and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! The professionalism displayed just add was top tier! From check in my trip was amazing. The suite itself was decorated so nicely, everything about the decor screamed "ocean" and I loved it , (I love water) . I especially loved that it was a complete kitchen although I didn't cooked, I liked having the option too. There was a living room, and balcony and of which I could see and hear the ocean from the balcony. The beds were really comfy and I loved the bathroom. I loved that there were televisions in both the living room and bedroom. The restaurant on site was closed because it wasn't opened yet and that was okay. But honey... the POOL! The pool was INDOOR & HEATED! I sat at the pool with my speaker and relaxed and listened to music. I especially liked that the hotel wasn't directed in the "middle of the boardwalk" . Booked a spring break vacation. Arrived well-after check-in started, parked, and walked in to a really long line of customers waiting to check-in and only one employee at the front desk. 20min later we were told our booking could not be found. They had a glitch in the system and for some reason it didn't register (but was paid) and so they double booked. The solution? Another 20min of trying to figure out what to do, get a hold of a manager, and then finally they offered a temporary 1 bedroom suite (for free) and promised to move us to our 2 bedroom ocean view suite the next day. We booked 3 nights so this wasn't the worst compromise, but it was a huge inconvenience and so the first night was completely not what we had planned for in terms of comfort and privacy. We also ended up sleeping on the pullout couch in the living room, which was loud due to the lack of sound insulation from the hallway. The next day, we had no news on a) when we would be moved or where we'd be moved to. It really disrupted our "relaxing day at the beach" plans as we had to follow up with the front desk proactively to get a response and then be at their beck and call when they were ready to fix their mistake. Service at the front desk could definitely have been better as their lack of follow through and consideration was unacceptable. They ended up telling us to "come back" after 11am checkouts because evidence fly they didn't know what would be available (contrary to what they had told us the day before). Went back after brunch and was told they'd call us (because again, they didn't know). Finally when they did call us, they moved us from one wing to another (far) and did not offer a cart or a bellboy to assist with the move. This wasn't evidently our problem. And we didn't get our promised 2 bedroom suite with a view (aka what we paid for) but instead we were given two 1 bedroom suites next to each other. A $50 dine in credit does not compensate for all of our stress and effort, not to mention the time we wasted dealing with the front desk. In total we spent the night in 3 different rooms, all renovated, but here's what differed in each room: 1 bdr ste (limited view): The first suite had a side view (some ocean view) and was on a lower floor and had two queen sized beds with cushions. The bathroom had a bathtub and shower. The kitchen had a dishwasher. The living area had a small dining table and two chairs and a nice lamp. The walls had wooden paintings which meant less echo in the rooms. 1 bdr ste (with view): this suite had different bed frames (less nice looking, no fabric ), and no cushions on the bed. The living area had the same sofa bed but no dining table and/or dining chairs. No dishwasher or any way to wash dishes (sponge/dishwashing liquid). The living area also had more echo in the rooms with the glass covered frames. The bathroom was lacking a handheld shower head (half-installed). No bathtub. The TVs were smaller in both the bedroom and the living room. 1bdr ste (with view): this one seemed upgraded compared to the one next to it, with proper bed frames and a shower head in the shower. Otherwise it also lacked everything in the other room, such as the dining table and chairs, dishwasher, a way to wash dishes in the absence of a dishwasher, and no bathtub. Also had smaller TVs. The TVs have direct TV, Netflix, and Prime but nothing else. Couldn't login to our Hulu or Disney+. Beds were too soft imo. The ocean view is beautiful. Giving 3 stars for its location and the views. The indoor pool was very humid and very busy. There's a small game section with card access. You can win prizes. There's also a ping pong table and a tiki bar. It was extremely busy and loud with a lot of splashing. They allow swim toys, such as inflatable rings, water guns, and other floaties so you can imagine. Kids loved it. Adults have to fight for poolside seating. It's a battle! The gym is currently not available even thought the website claims it is. The lower arcade is also unavailable. The spa seemed closed whenever I checked. The restaurant also had very specific hours, which we were able to enjoy on our last day (ala carte brunch). The coffee shop was also often closed where several patrons were upset they couldn't get coffee in the middle of the day. The rooms have keurigs and free coffee though. read more

I really wanted to like this place but just didn't. Check in starts with you sitting in your car, blocked in the driveway until the person or two in front of you is finished. The room was clean but housekeeping doesn't come unless you call them. I called, they still never came. I called again and we had to wait outside in the hall while they straightened the room. There were kids jumping on the floor above us for 15 minutes after midnight, there was drilling at 9:00 am... and if you stay on the poolside, it's noisy from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. Would return.  Staff is nice, room very clean, lobby area looks great, glad they have a parking garage but it's tight.   I was expecting my room to not available until later, but it was available unexpectedly during check in.  My room was renovated and it had a kitchenette, it had plates glasses, Utensils and coffee cups.  Pool was cloudy and didn't seem to clean, but it was nice and warm and my daughter had a blast in it. I loved the bar right by the indoor pool.  They also had a little shack with ice cream, snacks, drinks and beach toys.  They need some better signage to the elevators.  I would absolutely return! read more

Stayed here for a conference. I ended up switching rooms because the power was out in half of my first room, so I'll give the details on both types of rooms Overall - Free parking is available with a parking tag. There is an arcade, spa, indoor atrium pool, tiki bar outside, Schooner Restaurant (only open on the weekends), a small coffee store, a small convenience store (which was never open during my stay), a photo booth area, gym 2 Elevators led to the upstairs - on each side of the hotel My first room partially faced the beach. 2 queen suite. Living room with a pull out couch, tv, small kitchen table/desk, chairs. Fridge, microwave, sink, 2 mini burners and plates/cups/utensils. The bedroom had a walk out balcony, a small tv and drawer/closet space. The beds were kind of hard. There were only 2 outlets along the head board walls and only behind one of the beds I was upgraded to a renovated room due to the power outlets not working sufficently to a queen suite that faced the beach. Beautiful site, ocean breeze and curtain coverage as needed. Plenty of working outlets, living room with large tv and drawer dresser. Refrigerator, sink, microwave, plates/cups/utensils. No mini burners. Bed was a little soft. Both rooms had blackout curtains, controllable heat/air 4 stars because there was no food available on site (except coffee area) not until Thursday/Friday. Cons: The breakfast place... there's a reason it's not very advertised. Almost completely empty at peak breakfast time was our first sign. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere outside of the hotel (Layton's is a quick walk away) The parking garage is tight to navigate and we only saw one elevator. Because the indoor pool is a main focal point smack dab in the middle of the resort, if you are in room 511 for example you have to trek up stairs then elevators then walk another 1000 steps to your room to go to/from the beach. It's exhausting. The resort is in dire need of renovations in the main halls/common areas. Now this isn't the resort's fault (entirely), but people really don't know hotel etiquette these days. Why are we on speakerphone at 5:13 am through the halls?? Why are we bringing pets (not ADA compliant service animals) and then leaving them alone in our room?? There's worse in OCMD though, so at least it's not bottom of the barrel. read more

This review was another group effort. If it were based only on our experience it would have been a 5 star. We rented a room with an ocean view at a surprisingly reasonable rate. OC has some crazy expensive rooms during the season. Ours was newly renovated. Looks like they are working to refresh the hotel but it is in process. Not done. Indoor pool looks great for kids. Outside has a bar where you can get snacks and watch the waves We stayed here kind of by accident. Family had a room so we decided to stay. Was giving a 4 star review until the checkout process. We had asked for additional TP around 8am and told "we'll get someone to bring you some" An hour later, no TP and we were leaving to check out and once we left our room there were three housekeeping staff directly outside our door. Carts and all. Still no TP. We get to the front desk to check out and my wife politely says that we never got our TP and they should really be able to provide this from the front desk. I was really excited about this hotel. It got great ratings. Check in is at 5 PM. Was told there wouldn't be daily maid service, you have to call for clean towels, toilet paper and anything else. Room was supposed to come with 2 burner stove. No stove. Wet bar. No Wet bar. Dishwasher. No dishwasher, but had dishwasher detergent. No extra amenities. Our "clean" room - Floor was covered with sand. Had ants daily on nightstand and in my bed. You are not allowed to use luggage racks. Only Bellboys can use them. I paid dearly for a 4 star hotel. This isn't. No room service at all. Ordered DoorDash. When I checked out I was going to tell them about our stay, but front desk lady was on the phone, grabbed my key cards and shooed me away with her hand. read more

Staying here for vacation went to the bar and was told I needed an ID in order to get a drink. I gave them an ID wanted to order a beverage for myself and my wife and was told no. My kids are 33 and 31yrs old now and I used to bring them to this hotel when they were younger. Such a Family friendly Hotel. I bring My GrandGirls annually now and this time I truly enjoyed my room that was on the 2nd floor which is the same floor as the pool. Customer service has always been excellent and the BellBoys are very attentive when you need help arriving and departing! My suite has the kitchenette which I enjoy having that option. My suite was clean. I have never encountered an issue with my stays. If it rains you can sue the indoor pool or if the weather permits you can just walk out directly to the beach! The hotel has a nice atmosphere when entering. The lobby area is very neat and clean and classy. There is a Starbucks in the hotel in lobby area. There is also a gift shop in the lobby area called Sandy's beach treasures. The pool is very spaces lots of room. The pool is also heated in winter time which is nice feature. When entering the pool area there is a strong smell of chlorine so be aware. There is a restaurant in the beach view of hotel called the Schooners. The hotel hallways are a little outdated and has a cold draft throughout. (Caused by renovations in hotel). The hotel rooms are very nice and have a great comfort feeling. Your first thought is wow there is a living room (beware couches are hard to sit on) and kitchen in here (Keurig coffee pods are decaf just reminder). In the cabinets of kitchen area there are plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Not to mention the bedroom area. The bathroom is also very nice, the shower has some high pressure which is a plus. The balcony is very small and not much room to move around. All that being said I give it a 4 star rating due to the high chlorine smell, drafty hallways and hard couches. This place has potential with their beautifully renovated rooms and incredible views. My boyfriend and I came here for his birthday weekend expecting a relaxing time by the pool and many trips to the beach. Unfortunately, our room was EXTREMELY far from the entrance so anytime we wanted to go anywhere we had to walk pretty far, and the pool was PACKED every time we tried to go. The first night we wwe noticed the TV's wouldn't connect to the internet no matter what we tried, so I contacted the front desk and was told "that just happens sometimes". We stayed for 3 nights and not once were we able to connect the TV's, luckily I brought my laptop so we watched movies on that, but sucked to pay so much for a room to relax in and we couldn't even watch TV. The worst part of the experience was the bugs for sure... our room was riddled with ants to a point where we had to keep all of our belongings off the floor or else the ants would get in them. At breakfast (which was $110 total for 2) our table had tiny spiders crawling all over it so we moved to a table with less spiders... still gross and disappointing considering the amount of money paid. It really stinks because this place is in a GREAT spot and has lots of amenities, but considering all of the negatives and the cost to stay here it is unlikely we'll return when we can just stay at a more affordable and cleaner hotel. read more

The oceanfront room structure ( inside) was slanted with the kitchenette cabinets partially off hinge , the beds were hard, and very comfortable to sleep in; the Balcony had a running light that stayed on all night ( very annoying), the Wi-Fi network was unstable our entire stay. Per Paula , the manager at the property advised room cleaning is only offered upon request due to size of resort( this was not mentioned upon our arrival at the resort ) . I stayed there for a convention a week ago. I made the front desk aware there were ants and gnats in the kitchen and bathroom. Maintenance responded quickly and sprayed. Later, while getting ready for bed I saw a mouse run across the kitchen and I was livid. I called the front desk and was moved from the 2nd to the 5th floor. Ofcourse, I asked how I would be compensated. I was told I would be comped one night. The next night I went to the bathroom around 2:30am and a roach was crawling down the bathroom door. While packing I noticed a dead bedbug on the spread of the bed I didn't use. Naturally, after shaking all of my belongings while packing I talked to the manager of the hotel. She asked if the one night was satisfactory. I told her I would like to be compensated for the entire stay because this was unacceptable. She only comped the one night and I'm still waiting for the refund. My union stays there every other year. Needless to say, I will never stay there again. read more

Overall best place to stay in OC MD, have stayed here over and over and over every year since and before COVID, very clean facility easy access to beach, on the weekends there is a full buffet for breakfast, inside pool is very nice and accommodating great for the kids, fairly priced and if it rains the indoor pool is the best ! My husband and I visited Princess Royale on 8/18/2025 and we were suppose to stay until 8/23/2025.The effects of Hurricane Erin left us unable to go to the beach( the beach was closed due to high winds and currents). The beaches are the reason we go to Ocean City, We asked the manager Paula if there was anyway we could get a partial refund because we wanted to go home. We left on Wednesday 8/20/2025. Two thousand dollars for 2 horrible nights, stuck in a room. She stated unless there is an evacuation there would be no refund. Paula the manager didn't even offer any kind of courtesy. Some hotels would have taken into consideration the circumstances and perhaps offered a credit for a free night stay, a free breakfast, a free drink or something to accommodate the customer. It seems the Princess Royale only cares about the immediate dollar and is not concerned about repeat customers. We will never go there again and we go to Ocean City every year. I plan on letting family and friends know they should not go to this hotel. Also, there is really no place to have dinner. The bar around the pool serves dinner and the pool is packed with kids. They also told me there was room cleaning upon request only..guess what we requested room cleaning to find nothing was done. They clean towels were left outside the door, Housekeeping never came I to the room. Garbage pails not emptied, bed not made used towels not taken away. When Housekeeping arrived they told me they weren't allowed in room There was a total contradiction of procedure amongst the entire staff..a total lack of responsibility. At this place the guest do not matter. Honestly I don't know how they get away with it!! Before you make your reservation here I would make it at the worst place and I bet they'll be better than here!! They had the nerve to tell me they'll give me a comp for a drink at Schooners restaurant in the hotel which is never open! This place is a joke don't know how they're still in business! If I didn't already pay I would be out of here! One more thing the entire floor had a foul smell for 3 days that was overwhelming. Very clean. Very quiet. Not near the boardwalk (no rides etc..) which we liked. Had a great time except there is no handicap entrance to beach. You have to walk around whole building for wheel chair access. There are steep stairs to Goto beach. If you have hard time walking as is it's not fun. Restaurant was closed but apparently had room service with a high fee for that. Housekeeping at this time not allowed in rooms unless you request. (Due to Covid) & understandable. They have a small spa as well if need massage/facial/etc... (which I took advantage of) kind of pricey but worth it.(separate establishment from hotel) pool open 9am-10pm (9am-10am) adults only. Small hot tub & 2 saunas. NO SMOKING in hotel / rooms $1,000 fine. Had a small gym as well. Was told new ownership & a lot of renovations are planned. very nice hotel. big and beautiful. we stayed 2 nights in Feb. it was off season and slow so our experience might not be typical. room was nice and clean. the whole place seemed clean. there's was repair work on the roof so the pool was closed. The front desk girl lxlild have been nicer. I did NOT like that the hotel charged my card with an additional $100 security deposit. we're seniors so I think that was silly. Also, i asked for a luggage cart but she wanted me to leave my drivers license with her. I thought that was weird so I ended up carrying our bags. In the room a couple of the electrical outlets were apparently worn out so the plug would not fit I. snuggly. the lamp and clock weren't working. the tv remote was hard to use. I think it needed batteries. the restaurant was closed. Again, we were there off-season in Feb so the hotel was just barely open. overall a nice place. read more

Both restaurants were fantastic, and most staff were very accommodating but I have to stay for the price we paid (more than $400 a night) I definitely would expect better than a "suite" where you have to literally move furniture in order to plug in a phone. Both lamps in the living room were broken, autocloser on the door to the hall was broken (major fire hazard there) door to the bathroom swings and hits you (hard) in the knees while you are sitting on the toilet if you don't slam it shut first. We literally had to defrost the freezer to get the ice maker to work (required since there is no ice machine in the vending area). We needed to use the laundry bc our swimsuits would not dry when hung in the room. The laundry only uses quarters and there is nowhere to get change (no machine in the laundry and no help at the front desk). A sign in the laundry proclaims that "laundry products" are available in the "convenience store" in the lobby. Of course no such store exists, at least not after 5 pm. Seriously, don't come here unless you are very well prepared. read more

Overall a decent hotel but with some caveats. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was a little dated but the full size fridge, stove and sink was great. The bed was very uncomfortable. We had a room facing the atrium which was a HUGE mistake! So much noise. The DJ played loud music until midnight every night. Sleep was not happening until after midnight. I'm fine with partying in the atrium, but 1100 at the latest. Midnight is ridiculous for a family hotel. Also, the schooner cafe on the property was overpriced, as expected, but the food was just ok. For the higher than average price, I expect better than average food. I may stay again if the price is right, but I will definitely get a room opposite the atrium and will eat off property. read more

On another day the water was turned off midway in the entire building for 40-60 minutes without warning. No showers, no toilets no sinks during that time. The second time we had no hot water we complained to the front desk. We were told there was nothing they would do for us. Other guests were also in line to complain and through conversations I discovered the hotel wasn't doing anything for those guests either. Another small complaint is the lack of usable outlets in the room. There were no outlets in places people would normally charge their phones overnight. IT WAS MICE IN THE ROOM!!!! I seen it run to the bed and back in the closet and got a video of it coming out the closet. We called the front desk to have our room changed and they said they were fully booked and will comp the night, they didn't ask anything about the mouse or want to see proof which makes me believe this is very normal for them. Then we left out to get food and decide how much we really wanted to take the 3.5 hour drive back home that night or early in the morning since my husband, our three kids and I were at the beach all day and tired, we get back to the room and my daughter screams as she was approaching the kitchen sink it was a MOUSE trying to climb out the sink. We just checked out of this hotel, we stayed on the 4th floor. Our room had roaches. We had to keep the drain to the sink plugged because that is where they came out of. We didn't see anything the first few days, then we saw dead ones then live ones. Their Current beach restaurant was disgusting. We refused to eat anything there. The cook did not change gloves between handling raw shrimp and putting cheese on a sandwich. I watched another cook eat fries off the plate he was about to serve. We paid almost $4,000 to stay here. Great stay. Second time staying here. Love the balcony. We always opt for an ocean front or partial ocean front view and it works everytime. My favorite part of this hotel is that it is literally on the beach. Walk right out the back of the hotel and you are on the beach. It's kept clean, our room was clean, we were able to dry clothes for free, (washing machine is not free) and no long waits for the elevator. Staff is nice. We called for more towels and got them right away, each time. I watched the staff keep the place clean the entire time I was there. The current is the restaurant with the beach view but it gives a hotel food vibe, food was just okay and was typical food, no seafood. We didnt get to visit the other resturant Schooners because it was not really open when we were there, they are only open a few days a week and only for a few hours a day. They have a coffee shop and a gift shop inside. Check in was easy, check out was easy and parking was free which is a plus for sure! The couch bed sucks tho, the mattress is really really thin, so thin you can feel the springs when laying on it. The room was fully stocked and everything worked, except we couldn't get the sliding door to lock. Loved that we could fully control the air conditioning to our liking. The pool hours are great, and the pool has semi-warm water. It can get crowded, but at least you have option other than the beach. The pool provides towels and they keep it clean and the perimeter of the pool as dry as possible. No lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. Great place for families. Negative if I could. My partner and I needed a getaway before I headed back to work as a teacher and summer ended. I called to ask for help booking and was told it was 20% off to book on your mobile. I went through the booking process on my laptop and phone and didn't see a 20% difference. The difference was $19. I asked for help understanding and the woman was so rude. I then asked for a manager and the RESERVATION manager claimed to be "very kind" to me after telling me I need to read everything before speaking like I know. Not to mention, I was able to prove the both the employee and manager wrong and I mentioned how inappropriate it was how I was treated. The manager stated, "It's not about who's to blame, but about getting to the bottom of it." REALLY!? I'm the guest and I'm getting treated poorly and that's what you have to say!? I then tried to get in contact with the HOTEL manager and every number and live chat I went through put me to the reservation team who wouldn't help me. I was able to speak to a third woman, Liz, who was extremely kind. She gave my info to the HOTEL manager to call me and gave me her email. The manager never called so I emailed her. She responded with an apology and mentioned that those employees would be spoken to. She then asked if she could help me book. I mentioned I already booked elsewhere, but that compensation would be appropriate for me to stay there. I never heard back from her (Iryna Poliakovska). I also found out I have a friend who stayed there and she too had a terrible experience. I'd never stay there. They don't value you and they're unprofessional. Rarely do I get the chance to stay at a hotel that does everything wrong. But there's a first time for everything, I suppose... Deceptive practices, an uncaring staff not empowered to correct problems, and a nasty WTFAY? attitude made for a miserable stay. * Delayed check in time. * Unannounced closing of the indoor pool (the main attraction of the property) 4.5 hours early for an unannounced huge private party. Coupled with the delayed check in, this left about 30 minutes total for pool time. * Said party lasting until 2 AM with thunderous live music, making any atrium facing room absolutely uninhabitable. * a few other trivial yet annoying items added up to a jaw-droppingly bad experience. The fact this place calls itself a resort is absolutely wild, but okay. I'll stick to our biggest issue as it plagued our entire 4 day trip- our bathroom was FLOODED the entire time. No help, no changing rooms, no refunds. Water was pooled around the sink and floor when we checked in- the room was disgusting so we assumed they just didn't clean. We wiped it up with a bunch of towels. It floods again, and now we can see it's pouring out of the base of the sink faucet where it connects to the top of the counter. They send maintenance out eventually- we know only because a bunch of the cabinets were opened in our room and they left trash behind. Cool. When we come back that night the entire bathroom is pooled with water- it was pouring down from a broken grate in the ceiling above the bathroom sink- down the mirror, filling the countertop (along with all my makeup, blow dryer, and straightener, and our toothbrushes) and completely covering the floor into the hallway. Hundreds of dollars worth of stuff ruined. The blow dryer alone was $400. The manager (so he says) agrees that it's egregious and unhealthy for us and our 11yo to stay in that room- but can't move us. All booked, he says. Doubtful. Also can't provide a refund- also doubtful. Save yourself the hassle- every hotel offers more than this one, don't let the admittedly nice pool area fool you- you deserve better. read more
