There's a lightness and cheerfulness about the place - the staff works hard, but there's a lot of laughter in everyone from the valet at the front door to the receptionists, the cleaning and maintenance staff, and the caregivers. I'm always surprised and heartened by how kind the residents are to each other - there's a good community spirit. My mom has mild cognitive impairment, is in assisted living there, and needs help every day. Sarum Talivaa, Senior Resident Care Director, and her team of caregivers are fantastic. I consider them partners in this crazy caregiving journey and I really value their experience and insight. I visit 3-4 times a week and I've seen that their work is very hard...so hard it would be easy for them to just phone it in to save their own energy. But Sarum and the caregiving team genuinely care about the residents and show it every day in the way they interact with and assist my mom (and me). I know she's in good hands and I'm so grateful for that.

We found Bed of Roses when my grandma needed hospice care in July. All of the staff are extremely…read morenice, comforting, and are confident in what they do, caring for patients with varying levels of needs. Among the biggest perks is they cook food in the kitchen. My grandma's appetite mainly revolved around homemade soups, eggs and oatmeal, smoothies, watermelon, and vegetables with meat (which had to be blended up because she refused to eat otherwise). They encourage patients to get some outside time in the backyard or a short walk in the neighborhood, but also had patience and understanding when it took about a week before my grandmother ventured outside. Accommodations and personal preferences are taken into account. For example, the 3 weeks my grandma was there she almost constantly alternated between being too hot and too cold. So the fan was adjusted accordingly, throughout the day. Bedside manner is above and beyond. Rose and her daughter Christina were the two main caretakers for my grandma whenever we visited. Their cheerfulness and general positivity is just the type of energy a person would want when not feeling their best. Even in the middle of the night when my grandmother would often wake up several times a night, Rose would get up to comfort her by sitting next to her bed for periods of time and saying calming words to her. My grandmother was a bit of a high-maintenance patient, but that didn't deter any of the staff's efforts to make her time there as comfortable as possible. Cleanliness is excellent as well, with diaper changes and showers being a top priority. The staff understands the effects of medications well, and talked it out with us a few times regarding which route or routes we wanted to take. My grandmother's room was soothing and homey with a good exposure of sunlight (and blinds) and had a nice TV. Sometimes we watched baseball with her or nature shows. Their communication with us was clear, and we always felt rest assured that the most was done for all patients there.

The caregivers were very communicative as her needs changed and helped arrange transportation to doctors and in house special care. I will be forever grateful for this wonderful care of my beloved mom.

My mother had gone on hospice at least 3 times while there, and each time the Memory Care and staff were so communicative and responsive so that my brothers and I could always know how she was doing. There were many times where Campbell Village helped us to get our mom and dad to the hospital for urgent situations, helping us to coordinate our dad's dialysis appointments, and also helping us to reserve the special dining room for our birthday dinners, special lunches, and holiday dinners. Campbell Village staff and the Memory Care staff significantly helped improve the quality of life for both my parents and my adult siblings so that we were sure our parents were safe and taken care of for their needs. And when the inevitable day arrived for my dad in 2024 and then 1 year later for my mom in 2025, Campbell Village called us immediately so that we can be there in those last moments. I will always be so grateful for their care, attentiveness, support, and empathy for both my mom and dad. The staff here really do care and I really felt that. Thank you Campbell Village for showing kindness to my mother and father in their last years.

My father has now lived at The Watermark for one year. During that time, the experience has been…read moreinconsistent--at times acceptable, and at other times deeply concerning. The cost of care is extremely high, and additional fees are added for things that should be basic. If a resident exceeds a certain number of medications, there is an extra charge simply to administer them--despite these being small, routine pills. If staff are asked to ensure a resident showers, that also results in additional charges. Housekeeping is supposed to be included, yet there have been multiple occasions when my father's bedding was not washed, leaving him sleeping in what I would consider unsanitary conditions. In addition, there are many times when I visit and the fronts of the cabinets are covered in greasy fingerprints, as if they have not been cleaned or wiped down in months. After his first year, his rent increased by over $300 per month. The increase is for no other reason than to get more money. Just because you can raise the rent doesn't mean that you should. He hasn't been given more care, he hasn't utilized any of the facilities on the grounds. In fact he sits in his room and just watches television all day. The food hasn't gotten better or worse, he hasn't gotten more care or less. So again a rental increase is not necessary. Compounding this issue, prior leadership sent me the rent increase letter that failed to include the discount he receives, making it appear as though the increase was nearly $1,500. This caused unnecessary alarm and confusion and further eroded trust. There have also been numerous occasions when I have specifically asked staff to please not allow my father to simply sit alone in his room in front of the television all day. Despite these requests, I have not seen any meaningful effort to engage him in the community or encourage participation in activities. This lack of social engagement is particularly concerning and directly impacts his quality of life specifically since he has dementia and Alzheimer's, social interaction is extremely important to help the disease progress less aggressively. Many of these issues stemmed from prior leadership, which I understand is no longer in place. I believe I can personally attest to at least one reason for the high staff turnover. On one occasion, I called and asked to speak with a specific leader. I was placed on hold, and when the receptionist returned, she said she was transferring me. When this leader picked up the phone, she answered with a curt and rude "what," as though she believed she was speaking to the receptionist rather than a family member. Speaking to staff--or anyone--in that manner is completely unacceptable. When I clarified who I was and why I was calling, her tone barely improved. The interaction was unprofessional and left a lasting impression. While the care staff themselves appear to want to do a good job, there have been serious lapses. One example was when my father complained of what was dismissed as a sunburn, when in reality he had a severe case of hives. He later ended up in the emergency room while traveling. When we returned from that trip, we found his bathroom had flooded. Rather than immediately sending someone to clean and sanitize his apartment, staff was told to offer to him in a model room for the night. This was an unacceptable solution. He had just returned from vacation here he was ill the entire time and wanted to rest in his own apartment--not be displaced. We were also informed that there was no maintenance staff on site at night, which is deeply concerning in a facility of this nature. It took an excessive amount of time for someone to come up and mop the floor, and even then, the area was not sanitized--only mopped--despite the fact that it involved toilet water. I have read many reviews stating that appearances can be deceiving, and unfortunately, that can be true. It is a beautiful new building. There has been significant staff turnover, which I believe was directly related to certain members of leadership who are no longer there. Overall, I am cautiously hopeful that with the leadership changes that have been made, things will improve. However, given the level of cost and the expectations that come with it, meaningful and consistent improvement is not optional--it is required.

In every circumstance, I have been so appreciative of the care my parents received at Westgate. Because of the care they showed to my father before his passing, I felt completely at ease entrusting my mom's care to them when the time came. The director, Aidah, knows every detail of what goes into each resident's care, and somehow also manages to remember little details about their loved ones too! She retained many of the same people even through Covid, so in some cases the same people who cared for my dad then are caring for my mom now! This speaks to the atmosphere and oversight at the facility. My mom had more complex needs than my dad, and without Angie I could never have put together all the pieces together to ensure those needs could be met. Lead nurse Jessica and her team let me know of every change to mom's health. And Clara in Activities is one of my mom's favorite people, never failing to make her smile. I could go on listing the various staff, but I say all this to say, that Westgate helps you to navigate the care your loved ones need in the least stressful way possible. Deciding to place a loved one in a care facility is never easy, but I'm so glad to partner with Westgate in doing so.

It was incredibly difficult to tell my dad that I could no longer manage his growing caregiving needs, but Merife and Michelle made the transition easier by assisting me when I shared the news at his home, where he had lived for 60 years. Our first lunch at Villa Fontana was nothing short of serendipitous--my dad was reunited with a former co-worker he hadn't seen in decades! The meal was so delicious that he kept saying "oishi" (Japanese for "delicious"). It truly felt like a home-cooked meal, starting with a cream of potato soup, followed by a bountiful salad with hardboiled eggs, olives, and more. The main course featured chicken parmesan, spaghetti, perfectly prepared vegetables, and a berry pie à la mode for dessert. My dad's room is bright and cheerful, overlooking a gorgeous courtyard. It was recently remodeled with new carpet and granite countertops, making it feel fresh and inviting. To help ease his transition, Merife arranged 24/7 caregiving services from Harmony for the first three days--an unexpected but deeply appreciated gesture. Each caregiver was kind, attentive, and communicative with me, which made all the difference. Just 3 days after moving in, my dad had a small accident during the night, falling on the bathroom floor. Thankfully, he wasn't harmed, and the staff immediately provided me with pictures to reassure me that he was okay. Their attentiveness and quick response gave me so much peace of mind. Perhaps the biggest change has been in my dad's daily routine. Before moving in, he spent his days watching TV from morning until night. Now, he participates in group morning exercises, and when I asked what he liked the most about Villa Fontana, he replied, Bingo! He also loves that he can enjoy ice cream every day--a small but meaningful joy. The entire staff at Villa Fontana has been incredibly friendly and kind. In addition to Merife and Michelle, I want to give a special shoutout to Jefferson, who always greets me at the front desk with a smile, as well as Allyssa, Maryann (the activity director), Maryann (the med tech), Manny, Marycris, and Roselily. I know I'm still learning everyone's names, so my apologies if I've left anyone out! Villa Fontana has truly exceeded my expectations, and I'm so grateful my dad is in such a caring and supportive environment.
