I'm glad that I gave it a second chance. I was promptly greeted, my coat was taken, and offered a beverage. I was then paired up with Kira to get my beard trimmed, and haircut edged up. Kira was courteous, professional, and engaged in just the right amount of conversation. When asked what I wanted done I gave the typical guy answer of "do what you think looks best". Unlike most stylists she didn't keep asking me if I was "good", she gave me her opinion and told me what would look best, then executed it perfectly. I appreciate not having to make that styling decision, and leaving it up to a professional. When she was done she suggested some beard care products that fit exactly what I had been looking for. I had been researching a few products but was unsure of what to buy, but Kira's guidance was spot on. Overall I am very happy and will definitely be returning to see Kira.

If you plan to patronize Colosi's you'll have to pay close attention to the signage in the small plaza where they are located, since the plaza itself looks a little lifeless since their next-door neighbor (the Hi-Lo smoke shop) has closed. Like so many things labeled "fusion" out there, Fusion Salon tends to do American much better than…read morethey do ethnic. Recalling the fondness my most fashionable (White) friend from college had for this place, I came to this place in August 2010. I had just received an iffy haircut from a cheap Asian hairdresser in Swillberg with rudimentary texturizing and fading skills and I wanted something a step above the standard 15-minute haircut. I figured if anyone could cut my difficult hair well, it would be these guys. At first glance, Fusion was all I had ever dreamed of in a salon. They had comfortable chairs and an extensive magazine collection in the waiting area, Vampire Weekend and other cool indie tunes pumping from the speakers, local art on the walls, and Harney & Sons tea in the pantry. The massive leather barber's chair in which I sat to get my haircut was even more comfortable than the chairs in the waiting room and a peppermint facial massage and hot towel treatment came with every haircut. At $30 plus tip, the price was a little steep, but I loved everything about this place. Except my haircuts. While Jes gave me decent, fashion-forward haircuts when I first started going there, it was never exactly what I asked for and I found more and more wrong with the end results as time went on. After about 5 months, I began noticing unevenness (I'm talking 1/2 inch difference from left to right sides) and my fade soon began to resemble a bowl cut. Admittedly, I have two large protrusions of bone on both sides of my head and my Asian hair is ultra straight, but over the years, I have discovered that these things could be compensated for by cutting my hair to a certain shape, rather than cutting it based on how it might look in a couple of weeks or how you believe my hair might eventually fall. Asian hair doesn't fall. Like a bad relationship, I continued going to Fusion probably much longer than I should have because I was comfortable. I liked the people who worked there, I liked the atmosphere, and the haircuts were satisfactory, at times. I knew how difficult it was for me to find someone who could actually cut my hair and I had tremendous anxiety when thinking about searching for a new salon. But I had to break it off. I'm not saying that Fusion Salon isn't a good place to get your haircut. I'm sure if I were a White woman looking to update her look or a White man asking for something easy, I'd probably still go here every three to four weeks. Unfortunately, I don't fall into either of these categories.

DO NOT GO TO THIS BARBER SHOP! WARNING!…read more Just recently moved to Rochester, NY as I am a small business owner expanding to the area. With that said, I'm all for small business's and supporting them! This is one business that I CANNOT. Looking for a local barbershop I came across Altered Image, I called before coming in an hour in advance, was told that they had barbers available anytime no appointment was necessary. They took my brother, paid a ridiculous $30+$10 (TIP) for his shape-up, but again, I support it They, then told me at 10:30AM they could get me in the chair by 11:30AM. Already I'm thinking, an hour wait and there are FOUR barbers sitting down texting and chatting not working at all? FINE. I waited the hour plus more. 11:50AM someone ELSE comes in and gets sat in front of me. At this point i said, I've been here for almost two hours now with an appt for 11:30 and people are still walking in and sitting in front of me? They just allow you to wait in their lobby and ignore you until you don't have a choice but to get up and to somewhere else! GO TO ANY OTHER BARBERSHOP! They will get you in right away and treat you GREAT! This barbershop will have you wait HOURS, IGNORE YOU, All while they sit on their phones to make sure their wives aren't cheating on them back at their studio apartments. Pathetic. Sad story for a small business. Side note. If this barbershop is the ONLY option that you have, do not get sat in the females chair, she will butcher your hair for practice.
