He added an expansion tank at the top to protect the heater from main line water pressure surges. Also installed a catch pan and drain pipe under the heater just in case for when a water heater might leak decades later. Mike called me back promptly. Job is simple a shower cartridge replacement. Typically takes less than 30 min. Part original from Home Depot likely $60. He wanted to charge $485 cash, 4% for credit card. Would not answer the question of how much he charges per hour as he does it by the job. Would not tell me ballparking it what the part costs. And now I know why. Not upfront and if I can't trust him for a simple job, I certainly won't hire him for a complicated one. read more

Along with advice from a friend in the plumbing industry on what this job should cost, I did quite a bit of research in the San Diego area and was referred to Primo from a drain specialist. After getting many quotes over the phone and through Yelp, I found Mike's quote to be a fair price, low-to-middle of the pack, and definitely not trying to charge an insane amount like some bigger companies do! My water heater started leaking and I was unable to stop the leak locally, so I had to shut off the water to my house for the evening. In the morning I called Mike and he was out to the house in a few hours with a water heater and tools ready to go. He replaced the water heater and the shut off valve with top quality products that will last me a long time. I needed to have a new 3hole kitchen faucet installed so I called Mike, who did excellent work for me a year ago when I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom. He was able to find and repair the leak. Outstanding honest plumber. Mike answered the phone this morning at 630am, mentioned he had customer appointments at 8am and 10am. After I described the gas leak he came right out at 9am right between two customer appointments for quick professional fix. After the repair, he lit the pilot light in my water heater and stated even though an old heater, in good shape and no need to replace since the heater is in a side room accessed only from the outside. I have a Brondell Swash bidet toilet seat that I needed removed. My old plumber was no longer in business and I called a couple of plumbers who said they couldn't do that.
