He was supposed to call ahead to let us know when he'd be arriving, but instead showed up without notice. Part of the agreement included filling in all cracks before sealing, but several were left untouched. He also promised to apply two coats of sealant but barely managed one -- and the coverage was noticeably uneven. His equipment broke down multiple times (including different machines), causing a four-day delay in what should have been a straightforward job. It was clear throughout the process that he lacked the necessary knowledge and expertise for the work. To make matters worse, he caused a scene at the end, demanding payment despite the poor quality and incomplete work. We do not recommend Richards General Contracting for any commercial or professional sealing projects.

For the negative reviewers, I am not family to Tom, not one of his Facebook friends, etc. Nor have I been offered a gift card. I was introduced to him by another contractor whom I've known for a number of years and trust his judgement. We had to take on a roof project when we had a slow leak destroy a corner of our laundry room. When I took apart the ceiling it was obvious that this had been going on for a while. We'd had this fixed previously though the water had found a way to come back and had gotten much more serious. This occurred about March timeframe so it was problematic getting someone to come out. Tom came out with Alex and did a thorough check of the roof, found the area in question, and provided options. The part of the roof with problems wasn't quite a flat roof but wasn't pitched enough to always shed water. We wanted something we would never have to worry about again, plus while we were fixing this one side we figured on just doing the whole thing and making it right. Tom gave us a few different options. We did also contact a couple other roofing companies to get competing quotes. We decided to go with Tom because we felt the price was fair for the value - not cheap, or cheapest but well explained as to what was going to be done. We also had a solar installation to remove, and Tom knew of a firm that could do this (which ended up being the same people the solar company recommended). It took almost 6 weeks to get the requisite approvals from the town thanks to the 'Rona, but once that was done, we made our down payment and then maybe only another 2 weeks to get everything ordered and on-site. The crew ended up having to strip the roof down which was an unexpected add-on but not egregious. (This actually helped to ensure that we were able to get the water damaged area completely taken care of later.) The crew brought a big dump trailer and tarped off all of my gardens around the house. Considering what came off the house (two layers of shingles, tarpaper, drip edges, flashing, nails, etc.) they did a pretty good job keeping stuff from getting everywhere. There were a couple of spots where it wasn't perfect but they took care of it. The team that did the roof was extremely polite and professional. They came to the house early, worked their butts off all day, and stayed late. They definitely understood the technical aspects of the roof system and ensured that the components were applied in the right order, using the correct methods. It was easy to see they took pride in what they were doing. The results were outstanding. First and foremost, no more leaks (there was a false alarm on this but more about that in a bit). Second, the job they did was professional and looks great. The small details were well taken care of. Third, I had no issues getting a hold of Tom, Alex, or the team working on the house. I always knew what was going on. This extended to after the job was done. About 6 weeks after this finished, it had rained heavily and I discovered some water damage to a bathroom ceiling. Naturally, I thought something was wrong with the roof. So I texted Tom and asked him about it. He said he would be right on it. Alex called me in 5 minutes and set up a time to come take a look. Long story short, it wasn't the roof but the way the original plumber did the vent. Fixing the roof just exposed the problem with the way the vent was installed. I would recommend Tom and TH for roofs without reservation.

I am please to write a review about our most recent experience with M&N Construction for the work…read moredone in my home. This was our first time using this company for the staircase landing leading up to the main entrance and pavers. It has been nearly 2 years since we moved into this home and needed renovation to the outside of our home, so we was excited when Melvin and his crew came on board to help us accomplish that especially during covid. Melvin and his crew worked so hard to be done within the time frame promised which was 5 days and I was very optimistic from the start. Upon completion we hired them again to do the basement because we had to fire the guys who was doing our basement which was at the same time melvin was refacing the front of our home. We asked melvin if he wanted to take on in sealing the floor and painting the basement and so he did. Their work was done in such a timely and professional manner we acted fast and had him look at our backyard where we wanted to add a floating deck by extending it another 15×16 feet. He replied by saying that "He specializes in Decks which was his favorite area of work. We actually had to let another guy go because he was going to be done in 14weeks and he didn't even start yet, and Melvin and his crew was going to take 7 days. At this point it's business and nothing personal. The crew couldn't have been more courteous and conscientious to detail also very patient with my vision in how I needed it to look. When he began, I have to admit that I was skeptical. I just did not see what I was invisioning and describing but that's because it was just all a mess back there (see Photos) Again I'm so pleased to report that the crew worked tirelessly and pretty silently throughout the week onsite and demonstrated respect during their brief encounters with us. Overall the jobs involved waiting for permits, digging, scraping, cementing, building, cutting & painting. Once finished, the cleanup could've been better and that's the only Con I have. I am partial to supporting and maintaining a relationship with a true contractor. M&N has demonstrated the same quality of work from our first project to the current ones. Before the project began, I requested/checked references provided. I also spotted their ongoing work throughout yelp, so I made it a point to privately embark on my own personal inspection as I do with everything. I have already determined that I will be using M&N Construction for our next project around Spring 2021 for now our In-Home renovation and I would be happy to offer a more detailed recommendation and referral if/when needed. Replace floor, instal vanity etc.. Received his estimate and to save us some money we agreed we would do the demolition. And we did. Ripped up flooring, removed toilet and existing vanity. Today 7/18/20 the day he was to begin. We receive a TEXT not even a phone call saying he couldn't do the job and tried to extort more money from us ! He knew we had gutted the bathroom already and tried to take us for more money !!! Needless to say that's not going to happen. - K
