I want to share my wonderful experience at Cascadia Montessori School over the last 5 years…read more In our interview, Mrs. Franklin said that compared to the rest of the kids heading to K, my daughter was behind academically because of her delay in speech. (My daughter, Emily did not say the words "Mommy and Daddy" until 3.5 years old. Emily would point instead of talking.) Mrs. Franklin indicated that to help my daughter accelerate, parent involvement in the school and homework are essential, and her strict vacation policy is not negotiable. Nevertheless, Mrs. Franklin accepted Emily to Cascadia for K. Mrs. Franklin takes the time to talk to each parent on the progress of their child. If your kid is doing well, she will tell you. If you kid is doing poorly, whether it is academically, an attitude adjustment or something not right, she will tell you. She spends time with every child, knows their behavior, strength and areas for improvement. The kids in Cascadia are loved, they treat their teachers and classmates with respect. The kids do not use foul language in school or at home. They are happy, idealistic, safe and can be kids at this age. At the same time, they are learning so much. Each summer starting from pre-K to 3th grade, the kids are given packets for the summer so that they will retain the work and not have to spend 2 months re-learning the work in the fall. The kids learn to type in 1st grade and proficient by 3rd grade. The kids start to write 3 to 5 to 10 page-type stories and essays by 3rd grade. By the 4th grade, the kids writing proficiency at the middle-school level. Fast forward to the present, Emily is in 4th grade. She is intelligent, witty, a vivacious reader and writer, and extremely talkative. My husband and I really appreciate the attention and love Cascadia Montessori has shown to our daughter.

Mrs Keeton's leadership and high bar for the teachers and students is amazing. Cascadia provides our kids with a safe environment (home away from home) where there is focus on academic rigor but also on whole child development. Mrs Keeton and all the teachers/staff genuinely care for the children and set a high bar for them both academically and socially. It is also very well recognized amongst other middle/high schools of the region (Overlake, EPS, Lakeside, Eastside Catholic etc) and Cascadia alum have made great impressions at these schools. If you are looking for a nurturing yet academically rigorous school, this is your place!

We just love this school. can't say enough good things about it. Storm and Kelsey are phenomenal…read moreeducators. Our 2 sons currently attend and they both love going to school. Why we love it: 1. We are big believers of the montessori method and Storm is the real deal when it comes to Montessori. It's clear when you walk into the classroom but also in how she communicates with the kids. 2. Small class size - we really wanted a calm environment and find that our boys thrive in it. 3. Outside time - we love that they are in a yard surrounded by flowers/trees/nature. They get to participate in planting (which they love!). Storm has a very sweet/calm dog and we were nervous about it at first because both boys weren't comfortable with dogs. Now, they love to greet any dog that passes them! The exposure got them not only comfortable but actually interested in dogs. We also love that the arrangement of the backyard really inspires imaginative play (as opposed to purely physical activities). 4. We love getting all of their "work" on a weekly basis. We get folders of art/craft projects, writing projects, etc every single week. 5. Academically, our 4 yr old is starting to read and write (and most importantly, is genuinely interested in learning). 6. I love that they have responsibilities at school (helper jobs). They get super excited about them and are learning basic life skills (like folding towels). We HIGHLY recommend it and are so very thankful to have found them!!!

She promotes politeness and friendliness within the classroom, as well as curiosity. Many students leave the preschool reading as well as having an understanding of math. It truly is a gem. My daughter loves school.

Our son has been going to Mango Montessori for close to a year and he is about to start…read moreKindergarten this year. We moved to Redmond from West Seattle where our son was doing fantastic in the previous daycare. In Redmond we tried a number of places (tours and placements) and were reluctant to keep moving him. With other daycare in Redmond he would come home overly energized, struggling to focus and difficult to put down for the night. After going to Mango Montessori, it was night and day difference in behavior. Our son become more composed. He picked up where he left from in West Seattle and started progressing in his learning. He is now far ahead of where we thought he would be for his age, reading full words, writing & counting to high numbers. And drop off and pick up is a breeze. For anyone looking to invest in your child's future in the right environment for a balanced curriculum with great teachers look no further then Mango Monteessori. They're devotion & passion for kids education is clearly apparent and greatly appreciated.

Our 4 year old has been happily going to Ms. S.'s Montessori school since last September. We were…read morenew to the local area and after visiting a number of in-home and stand-alone day-cares, we knew right away that this would be the place. Heck, I wish I could be a kid again just so that I could go to kindergarten there. So many experiments and crafts for the kids to do, culturally diverse, small (10 max, I think?), and a really pleasant and caring atmosphere. I am just a little worried that when our 4 year will go to public school, she'll be bored since she has already learned all the letters of the alphabet this year. But, they do so much more than academic basics: it's the whole Montessori curriculum. I do wish they would go outside a bit more to play, but we make up for that at home. I also like that they don't charge an arm and a leg unlike some other options in the area that we explored and didn't like as much.
