We have redwood shiplap siding and it wasn't painted for decades and it showed. Any areas that were exposed to the sun or didn't have any roof overhang was peeling. I could see layers of chipped paint down to the bare wood. It was a mess! Over a few months, I got over 15 quotes from lesser-known and highly reviewed painters from a variety of sources. Quotes ranged from $3k to over $15k. It was very frustrating and difficult to tell who knew what they were doing and who didn't. But most people that came told me it would not be possible to get the siding to look good again. It was too much work, the wood was too damaged and it was too difficult. In fact, one said it was the worst house they saw all month and others didn't even send us a quote for the job. Somehow I found Alberto on Yelp and decided to get a quote from him. Alberto is a very well mannered, nice, and knowledgeable. He sent us a professional and detailed quote in a timely manner and was willing to answer all my questions via email and on the phone. After some review, we decided to go with Alberto. It was the right decision! Alberto and team came on time every morning. They worked very hard sanding, priming, patching, and cleaned up every evening. He continued to answer my questions throughout the process and his team was always helpful when I pointed out issues. Aside from a rain delay, he was able to finish in the planned timeline. In the end, the house looked great and even the worst looking walls looked significantly better! We love the final product and it gave the house a facelift that took 70 years off. I had 5 estimates and decided to go with Howard. He wasn't the cheapest, but his price is very fair! Very reasonable. But the VALUE was what I got out of it. He went through the technical details of what he was going to do, and his crew delivered! His crew, Juan, is super experienced. He did all the tedious work that makes the difference of how the paint looks. I didn't know this, but the prep work is one of the MOST important things to get done for paint to stick. They pressure washed it, sanded down any bad rot, cleaned off as much dirt and old paint as possible, filled in the patches, taped all the doors and windows, then put on primer and 2 coats of paint. He sprayed and rolled it over, which most painters did not offer. This paint job will last 10-15 years easy because of his fine details. The house is more than 80 years old and needed a major make over. His knowledge went beyond just paint. He knew stuff about the roof, the wood, and the ventilation of the house. The roofing job done on our house had a slight oversight and didn't install a roof ventilation, and we were able to have our roofer someback and fix it. He pointed out the dry rots before we started work. Not only that, he went above and beyond to fill in a few patches, installed some basic window trims at no cost. Due to privacy these days, I won't post all the photos of the house. But we are very happy with our exterior paintjob. he also did a wonderful job on my interior orange door that I posted here.
