This school has been such an amazing place for our kids and an incredible community for our entire family. The play-based learning and conscious discipline approach has given our kids a great start, and we have loved the opportunity to be involved every step of the way. We've made life-long friends and strong connections to the local community that we'll carry with us even after we leave the school!

Love this school. I'm a nerd so I created a spreadsheet of 25 Atlanta intown preschools, went on…read moretours at 6 or 7 of them, and submitted applications to 3. Got my kid into all 3, and chose IPCP. Why did we choose it? The co-op approach. It's not for everyone -- you might just want a transactional relationship with your preschool, you do you -- but I was looking for a place where I could feel more involved. The coolest way to get involved is as a Parent Helper -- 1 day per month you get to (have to) work as a teacher's helper in the classroom. That's a lot of fun, you get to see what your kid is doing all day, and you learn a few new songs. Also love the outdoor focus - unless it's pouring, kids spend almost half their day outside, which I think makes my son happier and less cranky. The biggest downside is that they have limited space. So may Lady Luck be on your side.

Initially, we weren't happy because we weren't getting the information we were looking for on his daily report which was supposed to detail how much he drank, when he napped and for how long and when his diaper was changed, etc. We were getting almost blank sheets that seemed to be haphazardly checked. When we asked if our son had a BM (constipation issues), they never knew...they would get on the phone and call someone else and then they wouldn't know. Sometimes they would say yes, he did...and I feel like they were literally making it up. Things progressively got worse from here. One night about two weeks in, my husband and I went to pick our son up. When we walked in, he was sitting in a swing getting no attention...covered in dried puke. When we picked him up, his diaper was FILLED with pee and poo and weighed no less than 2 lbs. So we changed his diaper, cleaned him off and changed his clothes and left. I was in shock in the car...thinking 'did that really just happen?' We're paying these people a lot of money to ensure our child is taken care of and this is what we get??? There is a laundry list of issues and I only have a limited amount of characters to get my point across. Hopefully what I've just explained is enough for you, as a parent, to seek care from another daycare and NOT the YWCA.

After touring SoulShine, a virtual group tour, we were not impressed and felt that prospective families should know about the schools structure before applying. This group of facilities does not operate to the level of a preschool and instead would be better reflected as a nature based daycare. The director who toured us was over the Kirkwood location but we saw photos of all three facilities. The rooms were well furnished but the curriculum in each space was greatly lacking with a student-led approach focusing on centers rather than a structured teaching day. We did not hear about the daily curriculum or milestone tracking for our students development. The tours involvement of curriculum seemed to be focused on what they had in each space (toys, playgrounds, book corner) rather than the learning. We were immediately put off at viewing the Kirkwood location when shown that the infant room opens directly to the outside of the building. While I am sure there are safety precautions in place there is not a way that I could feel comfortable as a parent knowing my newborn could potentially be interacting with strangers that approach the building. We will not be applying to this or any of the SoulShine locations and feel it is a overpriced daycare option and severly lacking preschool option.

If I can't trust that there is a working phone or that someone will pick up the phone for a tour, why would I risk leaving my child in your care? I called both locations. No luck. I will not be moving forward with touring either location and I wouldn't leave your children here until the communication is clear and consistent for parents. Not to mention, this tour was scheduled by a team member who called ME to accommodate me and my family for the tour. I hope a leader can change this for future family's. The people working here have fragile emotions and they take it out on the parents to the detriment of children. My son had bruises, rashes and multiple incidents of the staff losing him/being unaware of his whereabouts. What else? Passive aggressive employees speaking through my child in the third person like "I see mommy carried you in today" which points to a low level of emotional intelligence. To top it off, the accreditations listed on the website don't appear to be real or valid. The school leaders child gets to attend, presumably for free and receives top notch care (I'm sure they know where this child is at all times ) while the rest of the families shell out between 2k and 2500k a month for subpar treatment. If I could rate with zero stars I would. Protect your children by not sending them to this toxic environment.

I just dropped my kids off to find that the usually pristine facility was just covered with filth on the floor. Like someone had just dumped dirt and trash around. A teacher was trying to clean it up, because apparently the owners had just left it that way over the weekend for the old teachers to deal with unexpectedly before the parents arrive. The new owners are rarely there and when you ask when they'll be there, you get this vague "we're here whenever we can!". When they are there, they skulk in this back room area where you can't see them but they can hear what you say to the prior staff. They're just... listening in but refusing to actually communicate. They're also changed things that didn't need changing to the point that it just seems like a power trip -- like no teachers have a chair where they can sit down for a second except one, hard, dining room style chair. The final straw was that there were plastic bags left around in the trash. They talk "safety safety safety" but are leaving dangerous choking hazards left around toddlers? Filth on the floor where babies are learning to crawl? This isn't even an issue of "I just don't like their non-montessori style." This isn't a safe place any more.
