Imagine the focused care you'll receive. I feel as if I now have a partner focused on helping restore and maintain my health rather than a relative stranger giving me their best guess from a few clues. If I could give this place no stars, I would…read more Once doctor told me during an after hours call (and all within the span of our 15 minute conversation) that 1. My daughter was showing signs of SIDS, 2. On second thought, it was probably a seizure and I should take her to the emergency room, 3. No, wait, it's probably no big deal. The next day we went in to see a doctor and found that the experience that had prompted our after hours call was totally normal and the doctor we saw seemed shocked that we'd been told such wildly varied things. Another doctor marked my daughter, at 5 months old, as "obese" on her medical chart and suggested that we limit her breastfeeding so that she wasn't "snacking throughout the day". At this point, breastfeeding was her primary source of nutrition. She also suggested that our daughter sleep outside of our bedroom, though the AAP suggests waiting until at least 6 months. They really pushed the "cry it out" method on us and despite our protests that this wasn't the best option for us, they assured us it was the only option they could recommend. When we brought our daughter in as a newborn to see the lactation specialist, we ended up waiting half an hour while our daughter cried to be nursed because no one bothered to tell her we were waiting and we had been told not to feed the baby until the lactation specialist could be there. When we finally did see her, she told us she had been given a new scale and wasn't sure how it worked. After putting my baby on it and being unable to make it work, she pounded the desk on either side of the scale with her fists in frustration while my daughter lay there inches away. She also offered us a nursing pillow from a pile of them on the dirty floor in the room. In general, no doctors in the practice were willing to listen to our concerns or work with our parenting style. We always felt rushed and left frustrated. We decided on the practice because we loved Dr Ng but we were almost never able to see him and the other doctors on staff were so terrible we ultimately decided to switch to a new practice and have been much happier and visits have been way less stressful ever since.

I am a self pay patient so it takes alot for me to get myself to a dr. But when I went 4 days with no symptom relief and my mucus turning a bright green I figured I may need an antibiotic. I checked in as normal, I was called back pretty quickly and even though It costs me $150 just to be seen I was at ease to know I would be leaving with some relief. Nurse took my heart rate and bp, and asked about my symptoms. Dr came in and the only follow up question was "are you on birth control?" I said no. Haven't been in years. She then proceededs to do no swabs, no covid test, no bloodwork, no chest xray and tells me i need to go to the emergency room to rule out a clot! we went from zero to 100. Let's not rule out influenza or infectio. But let's make you spend potentially thousands of dollars on a ct scan for a blood clot!! All because I had a stage one elevation in blood pressure. Needless to say, I took my chances and left without going to the er. I think the 4 day embolism would have taken me by now. And left with no medicine or diagnosis!

And it was one of the best decisions we have ever made. The PH team -- and especially Dr. Critser and Nurse Kimberly -- has been there for us since our initial visit. The team is very easy to get in touch with; they gave us the number to the PH cell phone, and we text with them regularly. They made changes and additions to our son's medication plan, and a week into our care with them, we reached out about some worrying symptoms. They had us come up to the hospital that day to be admitted. A week-long hospital stay followed, but out of that we got a plan, and our son has been free of serious symptoms. He is able to run and play with other kids -- something we didn't know would be possible again. And regarding our hospital stay, it was about the best you could get. No one likes being the hospital, but all of the nurses, attending doctors and other techs and staff were compassionate and patient. The room was comfortable, and you could order meals from the iPad in the room. The cafeteria downstairs was also top notch. The past six months have been full of worry and heartache for our son. And while PH is a serious condition that we continue to take seriously, coming to Cincy Children's has given us new perspectives and new hope. We really can't thank this great facility enough!

This is a wonderful practice with excellent doctors who truly care about the welfare of your child, and I highly, highly recommend them to anyone searching for a pediatrician in the NKY area. They are associated with St. Elizabeth Edgewood and Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. This is a three-doctor practice, and each doctor is personable and knowledgeable, but they each have a very different style and personality, and so I think the practice could appeal to many different types of parents (and varied parenting styles). We specifically saw Dr. Cahill, who saw us through the birth of our first and second child, through illnesses, injuries, and check-ups. She was never rushed with us, we always felt we could ask as many questions as necessary and take up as much of her time as we needed. She was calming when my wife was stressed, filled with wonderful advice for a new mother, and was accepting (though not supportive) of our alternative vaccination schedule. I feel she truly got to know my children. In addition, the staff is warm and affectionate with the children, they are very good about getting sick and/or injured children in same-day without appointments (call ahead to avoid an additional fee and longer wait-time), and they have an after-hours answering service where you can call and leave a message if you have a serious health concern, and the doctor-on-call will get back to you within an hour. My wife used this service several times as a nervous new mother, and no matter which doctor was on-call, they always responded promptly, were extremely helpful, and never made her feel that she was putting them out or being silly by calling after hours. My ONLY complaint is that, because they are so good about seeing sick children same-day, because they do make regular rounds at the hospital, and because they don't rush through appointments but talk through parental concerns, the wait to see the doctor was always very long. I understand why it is long, but I feel it does deserve mention. My wife always tried to get the first appointment of the day to avoid the wait, but even so, we often had to wait longer than we expected to see a doctor. I did not deduct a star for this because, frankly, I feel the service and care my children received was worth the wait.
