Prices were VERY competitive to SALE prices!! I will be back to purchase meats!!! I loved that the bulk buys were vacuum sealed they were not smothered in globs of fat either!! Mexican candy; there was a good selection of Mexican candy!! Canned goods: Not a lot of canned goods passed jalapeños, beans, hominy, tomatillos, salsa.. Cooking oils: a large selection of cooking fats both cold and shelf stable that include HUGE tubs of both butter and margarine, crisco, oil, Pam, other cooking sprays, and other cultural types of oils I was not familiar with but was happy to see, will be researching and looking up for myself! Cooking utensils: great selection of knives, spatulas, serving spoons, ladles, cutlery, steak knives, plastic serving utensils (disposable) Cooking equipment: Large selection and everything you could need from griddles, grills, cooking pots, woks, pans small and large, Molcajete, grinding stones, stone comals, metal cooking sheets, bowls, storage containers of all shapes and sizes. Some of the produce and the meat and dairy is in a walk in cooler , so you need to dress for 40 degrees if you are going to spend times in these departments. Sizes are larger- for example - mushrooms are packed in 2.5 lbs, not 8-12 oz like a supermarket. Some items are equivalent to club store sizes, others are larger. Items may have a unit price and a case price, I bought a comercial quality non- stock cooking spray to try, a larger spray can than the supermarket which was also available in a case of a dozen. I like skirt steak, the slot was empty ( happens from time to time,), but if it's on their online order system they can get it , like when I want a lot of boneless beef short ribs. I asked about veal, which US Foods has on their food service restaurant supply side, I was told some items are available and some are not available through the Chef Store, just ask about specific items. One cool items were bamboo skewers- which were available in 4 lengths , 6,8,10&12 inches. The restrooms, which are in a location for the shopping public and not hidden in a store room have a coded lock, so you need to ask for the code.

They were a lifesaver right before Thanksgiving when I was madly in search of a brine injector. After going to several other stores in town with no luck, I happened to stumble across J&E via a Google search. Before heading over I called over to see if they had what I needed and they said, "oh yeah, we've got all kinds" and indeed they did. That said, once you're inside, the selection and overall experience make it worth it. This location has everything you'd expect from a full Costco including a food court, gas station, tire/auto center, bakery, meat department, seafood, alcohol selection, and all the bulk wholesale items Costco is known for. The store footprint itself is very large, and the inventory selection is consistently good. The bakery, meat, poultry, and seafood sections are especially solid here, and they usually have a great alcohol selection as well. One of the best parts of shopping at Costco is still all the rotating food samples throughout the store, and this location always seems to do a good job with them. Customer service has consistently been excellent too. The employees are friendly, helpful, and efficient, even when the store is crowded. One newer thing they've started doing that I really like is improving the self-checkout process. Employees now come through the self-checkout lines with handheld scanners, scan your membership card, and scan everything in your cart ahead of time. By the time you reach the register, all you really have to do is pay, which speeds things up significantly. The food court can get busy depending on the time of day, but honestly, it's hard to complain when you can still get the classic $1.50 hot dog and soda combo. Their pizza is also consistently good.
