Last night I visited with a group of 6 friends for some late night snacks. We ordered a handful of milkshakes, some small burgers, and fries for the table. Nice thing is that service was prompt and our food was served as quickly. In past visits when they were busier the wait time for food was much longer. But that's usually been ~dinner time when the restaurant is also otherwise impacted, so nothing out of the norm. My key lime shake was delicious. Warning: these things are HUGE. Split or be prepared to have an unproductive rest of your day. Fries are so-so in my experience, but honestly when you're gorging down other things like burgers and milkshakes, I'm not focusing too much on any kind of superior fry quality. I'd have shown you a photo, but it was so good it was gone before it came to mind to snap a shot. At restaurants I'm a "get one thing and only get one thing" kind of guy, and for me that's the double Texas Ringer here. If it's your first time, that's what I'd start out with and you can branch out from there on later visits. SOLID burger. Restaurant is generally clean, given the amount of traffic that comes through. The neon 50's (?) vibe is a nice touch to match with the food that's being served for an all-around experience that matches. And open late? Great for your late night dinner or dive food cravings!

What a wonderful neighborhood gem I stumbled upon!…read more I was on my way to pick up breakfast from one of my favorite vegan spots when I came across this pretzel shop. I was walking very slowly while recovering from knee surgery, and someone ahead of me kindly held the door open. I initially said, "Oh, no thank you, but thanks anyway," and then I noticed other people going inside and thought, "Wait a minute...what is this place?" So, of course, I had to check it out! I'm so glad I did. This is a husband-and-wife-owned spot, and Annie was the one who assisted me at the counter. She was kind, welcoming, and made my first visit such a pleasant experience. They have so many tempting options -- cinnamon pretzels, pepperoni and cheese, long hots, chocolate-covered pretzels, and more. I ended up picking up a few things for my son, too, because there was no way I was leaving without bringing something home for him! But what really stood out to me was the sense of community. They have photo copies of pretzels available inviting young artists to color them. The finished artwork is then displayed throughout the shop. I absolutely loved seeing that! It's such a simple, sweet way to make the neighborhood feel involved and give young people a chance to be part of the space. Sometimes the best places are the ones you discover completely by accident. I'm definitely glad I stopped in. Great food, friendly service, and such a welcoming community feel. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more!

I phone scrolled, and finally jolted myself up when I came across an Instagram post that had me drooling. Pretzel Day Pretzels. Yes- we needed breakfast and a road trip snack. Out of bed, got ready for the day, packed up and woohoo off we go to Pretzels!! We took the venture from Center City to South and fortunately found street parking a block away. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 11am. The gal behind the counter was so charming. My excitement over this post was deserved in how delicious these pretzels actually are! So truly, my favorite snack and guilty pleasure in the world is a soft pretzel. That said- I can easily disappoint. But Pretzel Day Pretzels- only excitement to be found! Soooooo good. So inventive! We tried a few creations- The pretzel with long hots and provolone. And the pretzel with berry streusel. It took me the whole hour home to eat my long hot pretzel- Because I didn't want to not eat it. Loved everything about it. The pretzel texture, some chew, a bit doughy, slight salt but bite- heat and cheese pull. Drool. My husband loved his sweet pretzel. This jam HAS to be homemade. It was fresh and fruity, nothing artificial. Chunky smooth and sweet. What a little gem at Pretzel Day Pretzels. Definitely bookmarked for our next Philly on-the-road breakfast!

I ordered the combo with the bacon on the stick. My order was ready in 15 minutes. They accepted every form of payment, which was great. I asked for the whipped cream topping but changed to the maple syrup instead. Let's just say the French toast was delicious. It remained warm all the way to the bottom and it was lightly toasted. The only thing I wanted was more maple syrup throughout the entire meal. It was only put on top to drizzle down. I would have preferred it be layered so I can taste the syrup in every bite. OK, so let's talk about the bacon on the stick. It was VERY crispy, just the way I like it! The best takeout that I have never had- way better than any diner or restaurant bacon. It stayed crispy the entire time. I'm definitely going back for a second combo. Everyone reading this should head over there. They have vegan options as well. 'Til we eat again, talk to you all later.
