Our side wasn't that big, but it felt cozy rather than cramped. We loved all the window options - for light, a switch controlled the shade for a large top window, and many of the others could be twisted open to let fresh air in and had screens for bugs. We slept with the window above the bed cracked to allow a nice breeze in since there's no A/C. The gas fireplace was extremely easy to use as well, preferable to the wood option I saw in other upscale lodges around here. I didn't mind no TVs in the room as it went with the serenity vibes, but the spotty wifi was annoying. Even in the main lodge, I could not do certain things on my tablet. No gift shop, no spa, just a completely introspective experience they're going for. There is a little lake you can sit by lined with classic Canada red chairs, which is very peaceful, though the water is so cold. Now to dining... the food was outstanding! They use seasonal/local ingredients which can change the menu from day to day. We were part of a larger travel group, and everyone was raving. Standout dishes from the party: Duck Confit Gnocci appetizer, Venison Tenderloin entree, and Carrot Cake dessert. I'm personally gluten free which they accommodated very well, but multiple folks rated the Carrot Cake the best they'd ever tasted. Seating was clunky. The outdoor deck has top heaters and blankets on request, but dining there still got very chilly especially during windy breakfasts. When being seated for the included breakfast, I objected to the outdoor table, but the staff claimed it was the only option due to reservations while half the dining room was totally empty... I requested for this not to happen the next day, but the next morning I was again showed to the same exact outdoor table...

Stay two nights both times the front desk was friendly and fast at getting ours (2 different rooms)…read more. The rooms are typical of what to expect at a hotel. Found the housekeeping did well at first sight and closer look at closet window etc it was Bed is medium soft so we didn't mind. And the pillows case had stitched in ( soft hard ) nice touch Though both rooms we felt it was a bit colder, even though we spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to get the furnace to blow warm air. After at least 10 minutes in both rooms we gave up. First night we went into the hot tub and pool area ( hot tub wasn't extremely hot 40 c more like 30, no way to adjust the temperature and the jets were not that powerful). But still nice enough to soak in. The pool was nice though . The breakfast Continental was extreme there was ( pancake, omelette, sausage, potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels, yogurt, juice's coffee teas, cinnamon buns fruit hard boiled cold eggs ) wow !!

Our rooms was nice and clean, we had a great view of the mountains. I loved opening the drapes every morning to get that view. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. We had no issues and the place was completely full. The complimentary breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, omelettes, turkey sausage patties or pork links, and various fruit. The fruit was always plentiful. They also had cinnamon buns, yogurt, boiled eggs, a pancake machine, oatmeal and the list goes on. The breakfast area although busy was kept clean and stocked. Coffee was always fresh and no line up when I went to get breakfast or coffee. In general this was a clean hotel. The only thing I have a suggestion on, is there's a sign in the room saying if you don't want new towels keep them hung up, if you want them replaced throw them on the floor. Well we always hung ours up and they gave us fresh ones each time. We did discuss it with the front desk to which they only said "ok thanks". That's my only suggestion if I don't want a new towel don't give me one please. I would stay here again. The price was right as well. We paid $800 for the 3 nights.

The cabin (cabin 2) has a wood-burning fireplace, hot tub (use with doors and windows open for full effect), and an extremely comfortable medium-firmness california king bed (my wife prefers a soft mattress and I prefer firm, so medium is as happy as we can find). The views of the mountains in the morning and evenings are truly magical, especially after a day spent doing mountain activities in Glacier National Park. We ate 3 meals at the restaurant. 2 dinners and a breakfast. The service was exceptional, and I wish I lived closer to the food! I had the most inspired charcuterie plate that I've ever had, my wife was extremely impressed with the gluten free bread for her sandwiches, and do not pass on the creamy leeks with baked eggs and maple bacon! I wish this place was in Chicago. Oh, and if you are a beer snob like me, you have to try Mt. Begbie's Cream Ale if they have it.... All the staff are extremely accommodating and ready to help you find things to do between the best meals you'll have in Canada.

I went to this place for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised. It was more beautiful and nicer…read morethan I even imagined. The lodge is simple, but has tastefully appointed rooms with most amenities. The view is stellar, and it was great sitting on the adirondack chairs, or hanging out in the hot tub when the sun goes down facing the beautiful mountains. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and knowledgable about all the questions we had about the hikes, and activities in the surrounding area. Breakfast was included, and was all local or used food grown in the hotel's garden. My only gripe is, there are no fridges, and you either have to drive to Golden or Revelstoke to eat, otherwise it has to be the food at the hotel restaurant, which isn't cheap. They serve it buffet. Breakfast is $15, lunch $20 and dinner $23. we brought our own snacks, but ate at the hotel twice outside of bfast and then in Revelstoke for the other meals. This hotel is gorgeous in summer and has so many places nearby to hike, and horseback ride, as well as is a heli-skiing heaven. I'd definitely go back. Apparently they have wedding here all the time, we saw one taking place and it was absolutely stunning.

When we reported the problem, the staff just dropped off new sheets and we had to make up the bed ourselves. No new toiletries were provided...just the remnants of what the previous guests had left. Out of toilet paper. When we checked out, the clerk took our contact information and promised the General Manager would be in touch. She never called us back, even when I left another message.

But if you need more than that, let me help you out…read more Ski in/ski out - The Palliser is located right at the base of Kicking Horse so you you can ski from the hotel down to the gondola, and head back to your room on your last run of the day. It's just a short walk though, if you feel like hanging out at the restaurant or grabbing a caesar at the on hill pub at the end of the day. It's good quality and it's casual. It's classy enough for a romantic getaway, but not the kind of place you'd feel uncomfortable bringing the kids. Both the rooms in the 2 bedroom are of a decently equal size so it's a good place for groups of friends or couples to stay, as well as family. No one will wind up feeling miffed that they paid full price for a trip and wound up staying in the kids' room. The floor plan is really nice and open concept and has a large kitchen island with bar seating. There's a pullout couch in the living room so the place could sleep up to 6, if you're so inclined. If you're staying in the middle of the rockies and you need to watch TV, I think you're doing it wrong. But if you're addicted to the boob-tube, there's 3 flat-screen options - One for both of the bedrooms and one in the living room. The hot tub says max 3, but I won't tell anyone if you put in more. It seats 4 people very easily, you could cram in 6 if you don't mind playing "Who's Foot is That? The ice machine is in the parkade.

With humble, but clean accommodations in vintage log cabins, panabodes or the lodge guest rooms, this is a place to enjoy pristine sub-alpine and alpine beauty. Totally off grid (no internet, room phone, or cell coverage), no fancy trimmings like spas or night life, this is where to come for unpretentious mountain hiking and scenery. But beyond location, location, location, hosts Bruce and Allison, as well as David, Amanda and the rest of the staff provide exceptional hospitality and dining (breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner in the lodge) and lunch bags for refuelling on the trails. This is a special place. You need to apply in the fall for a spot on the invitation list for the following summer. If you get an opportunity to go, take it. I'd recommend going in on the morning transport, leaving on the afternoon transport. You park near Hwy 1 between Field, BC and Lake Louise, AB, and take the Lodge shuttle up 11 km to Lake O'Hara. That may mean staying some place else not to far away to 'stage' your visit. The Lodge at Lake O'Hara is very exclusive, not just because the high cost per day, but the number of people who can access this part of Yoho National Park is very limited. Be prepared for variable weather, take good hiking footwear, and lots of capacity on your photo memory card! Also hydrate well, due to the elevation and the elevation changes on some of the trails.

You must be a very experienced skier/snowshoer just to reach the Lake O'Hara Lodge and enjoy it in…read morethe winter! The trip up to the lodge, on a narrow, one lane road, is 11 km (7.2 miles) long, ascending 578 m (1900 ft) up a steady 13 per cent grade to an altitude of 2025 m (6650 ft). At a minimum, skiers need wide, metal-edged backcountry skis (described as "light touring" locally) with skins. The trip from parking lot to lodge took us, experienced xc skiers, over 4 hours. Once at the lodge, the food is terrific and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The terrain from the lodge is too difficult for touring skis, due to the steep trail pitches, and is suitable only for alpine backcountry skis or snowshoes. The rerun trip to the parking lot may be the most challenging aspect of the trip, particularly on touring skis. The trail, c. 2 m (6 ft) between ski tracks is extremely narrow for the steep, continuous 11 km descent and is one approachable by strong, very experienced skiers, particularly with backpacks attached. If you need outsiders to get in touch with you while you are away or vice versa, Lake O'Hara Lodge is NOT for you. There is very limited phone service and no wifi (the front desk has a computer but not for public use). Cell phone coverage is nil. If no one answers the desk lodge phone, it is not possible to leave a phone message to staff or guests because the Lodge does not have a voice message machine or service, nor email address. The telephone hours at the desk are very limited, 9-3 Monday thru Thursday, not including holidays. If one needs to get in touch with any staff member or guest between Thursday at 3 PM until the following Monday morning, it is not possible. There is only a general emergency number for Canadian Parks. Be sure to bear all this in mind before booking a trip. The views are unsurpassed and the lodge experience is very tranquil and friendly. Just be very careful getting to and from there in the winter!
