Both chalets had excellent bed linens and comfortable beds, which along with the crisp mountain air made for wonderful nights' sleep. I liked the layout of the Garden Chalet better, and appreciated the dimmer switches on the lights and the high kitchen counter bar and the high dining table. The shower was better too, although the Dragonfly bathroom was more practically laid out. You don't have much privacy at the garden chalet, with windows to parking and paths on most sides. Dragonfly is more secluded. Oddly, the kitchen dishes and equipment was different at the two chalets.

We absolutely love it...so we decided to visit again for my Birthday this past weekend. There are 3 chalets to choose from, although we always book the Cedar Chalet. Darrin had a fire going in the wood stove when we got there, making it warm and inviting after our long drive. There's a fully equipped kitchen, a big couch that's perfect for cuddling up by the fire and the bed is ridiculously comfortable...which made it very difficult to get up on time to hit the slopes the next day. If you are staying at the chalet, you absolutely must visit the restaurant! I can easily say that the best meals I have ever had, have been at the Cedar House! The menu always has an interesting variety of dishes, as well as great vegetarian options. On our last visit, my husband and I shared their delicious Bison turnovers as an appetizer. For our main course, Darrin recommended the sablefish, which was so tender it almost melts in your mouth! After our dessert we returned to our chalet for a soak in the private hot tub and watched the stars. The Cedar House is truly the perfect place for a romantic weekend in the mountains! Darrin is a wonderful host and always makes sure we are well cared for and comfortable. Can't wait to go back!

Bed is a feather ticking on top of the mattress so it is a soft bed. It would be great to get screens on the bedroom windows as the mosquitoes were huge and voracious. They have had rain for weeks, so everything is lush and green (and a perfect climate for mosquitoes).

The suite had everything we needed to cook dinners. With our room was an equipment locker right at the base of the gondola. This fit two snowboards and five sets of skis. The hot tub is a max of 10 which is quite small for the size of the resort. As well the Friday morning the Plows ( for not much snow) started at 5:30am. Saturday morning at 3am they were moving snow which was very loud and disruptive to our sleep. I would stay here again because you can't beat being right at the gondola.

During our stay, we experienced approximately 14 hours without electricity, Wi-Fi, or hot water. The power outage also meant we could not cook or properly refrigerate food, and the spa was unusable. The water coming from the taps was brown and unsuitable for drinking or brushing our teeth. We were especially concerned that we did not receive timely communication about the water issue, which was particularly problematic while traveling with five children. There were additional issues, including a bathtub that would not hold water because of a faulty drain plug, dead batteries in the TV remotes, and emergency lighting in the stairwell that stopped working during the power outage. No flashlights were provided in the units, making it difficult to navigate the stairs safely. To be fair, the units were clean and well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. We appreciated those positives, and we understand that some of the circumstances may have been outside the host's control. However, the lack of basic utilities and safe, usable water significantly affected our stay. After checkout, we sent the host a detailed message explaining our concerns and requesting a 50% refund to reflect the substantial disruption. A week later, we have received no response. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and follow-up has added to an already frustrating experience. Based on our stay, we would encourage future guests to consider these issues when deciding whether to book.

When we reported the problem, the staff just dropped off new sheets and we had to make up the bed ourselves. No new toiletries were provided...just the remnants of what the previous guests had left. Out of toilet paper. When we checked out, the clerk took our contact information and promised the General Manager would be in touch. She never called us back, even when I left another message.

It's just a short walk though, if you feel like hanging out at the restaurant or grabbing a caesar at the on hill pub at the end of the day. It's good quality and it's casual. It's classy enough for a romantic getaway, but not the kind of place you'd feel uncomfortable bringing the kids. Both the rooms in the 2 bedroom are of a decently equal size so it's a good place for groups of friends or couples to stay, as well as family. No one will wind up feeling miffed that they paid full price for a trip and wound up staying in the kids' room. The floor plan is really nice and open concept and has a large kitchen island with bar seating. There's a pullout couch in the living room so the place could sleep up to 6, if you're so inclined. If you're staying in the middle of the rockies and you need to watch TV, I think you're doing it wrong. But if you're addicted to the boob-tube, there's 3 flat-screen options - One for both of the bedrooms and one in the living room. The hot tub says max 3, but I won't tell anyone if you put in more. It seats 4 people very easily, you could cram in 6 if you don't mind playing "Who's Foot is That? The ice machine is in the parkade.

Along with her kitchen brigade they fed everyone quickly and with a smile. I had the Popeye Benny $10.50 which was 2 eggs on whole wheat bagel with pan fries. Hollandaise may have been authentic, or in the least from a good quality package brand. However, we all found the pan fries to be too small, too fried and too greasy. Our two sons enjoyed double eggs and french toast $8.50 per person, and hubby had Huevos $11.50 which he really enjoyed. You order at the counter and help yourself to teas etc then Nancy delivers your meal to your table. Quick, efficient and cheerful process thanks again to Nancy's great attitude. We wouldn't hesitate for a moment to return to Bugaboo Cafe in the Kicking Horse River Lodge.

The fruit was always plentiful. They also had cinnamon buns, yogurt, boiled eggs, a pancake machine, oatmeal and the list goes on. The breakfast area although busy was kept clean and stocked. Coffee was always fresh and no line up when I went to get breakfast or coffee. In general this was a clean hotel. The only thing I have a suggestion on, is there's a sign in the room saying if you don't want new towels keep them hung up, if you want them replaced throw them on the floor. Well we always hung ours up and they gave us fresh ones each time. We did discuss it with the front desk to which they only said "ok thanks". That's my only suggestion if I don't want a new towel don't give me one please. I would stay here again. The price was right as well. We paid $800 for the 3 nights.

We reserved at $150 a night but since it was a long weekend and every hotel in golden had sold out they decided to sell our rooms at an inflated price. Local RCMP stopped by while we were trying to figure out where to sleep for the night. The officer said the motel does this all the time and they get calls weekly to the motel. Then the motel manager somehow managed to find 5 rooms at a price of $237 a night. You can guess where we told him to stick it. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT SUCH A SHADY BUISNESS THAT HAS NO PROBLEMS OR REMORSE ABOUT LEAVING PEOPLE STRANDED IN THE RAIN WITH NOWHERE TO SLEEP!
