I scheduled an appt specifically for a review of my son's ADHD meds. After waiting over an hour to be seen (even though I did not see or hear any other patients in the facility), it became apparent that she was actually performing a well visit on my son, and we were informed that she is not able to prescribe ADHD meds. This should've been addressed by her staff when I scheduled the appt.
During the appt, I questioned whether or not she was a doctor and was able to prescribe medication to which she replied, "Yes." Well, she is NOT a doctor, but a PNP and should've clarified herself as such. During the visit, she grilled my son about his being homeschooled and whether or not his siblings were homeschooled and asked how they felt about having to go to school while he got to stay at home.
Although she had promised during the visit to contact her medical director and call me back with his decision of whether or not to fill the Rx, I did not hear from her and had to call the office the next day to inquire of the status. She said she hadn't heard from him but said she would text him and that if she hadn't heard anything in 30 minutes, she would call me back to advise. During the call, she actually asked me why we homeschool and asked if we would like a referral to a psychiatrist for my son.
The fact that we homeschool and the reasons that we homeschool have ZERO relevance as to why we initially scheduled the appt. And, no, he doesn't need to see a psychiatrist to be prescribed ADHD meds. Her questions and comments during the appt and on the phone were egregious and completely unprofessional. To date, she still has not called me back.
To top it all off, unfortunately, I found out today that she actually lied to me by stating that she had not heard from her medical director. My insurance company spoke with her office today and was informed that she had, in fact, talked to him but that he had denied the request to fill the medication. read more
