If I could rate zero, I would.... The staff is not at all responsive to any questions or concerns. Their "journalists" constantly misquote and misrepresent the citizens of Plattsburgh in order to push their own political agenda. They spread misinformation and are negligent in their news gathering. I was interviewed under false pretense, by someone who didn't even work for the paper, and then my views were misrepresented and used without my consent.... Do not trust the information from this source. I recommend NCPR instead, or WCAX for broadcast news. Negligent and unethical are the best descriptors for this deceitful corporation. read more

I received a call from the Press Republican representative soliciting the paper. The lady that called I did not get her name but she was very nice and said if I rejoined to have my paper delivered I would be receiving a $25.00 Target Gift Card in the mail. This has been months. I have called 3 times and spoke to 3 different people only to be told the gift card is in the mail! To this date I have received NOTHING!!!! They continue to deduct from my checking account monthly yet no Gift Card. This is False Advertising!!!!!!! Linda M Pilon read more

My name is Bill Tkacz and I have been a Press Republican newspaper carrier for 14 1/2 years. Throughout my tenure as a carrier I have been consistent and professional. I have not been perfect as no one is. I have delivered the press when I was sick and injured. On several occasions when the press broke down I had to rearrange my work schedule to get the newspapers delivered before I started my work day. I have delivered on one occasion when my manager told me not to because there was too much snow. I believe I was the only city carrier to deliver that day. The route took me five hours to deliver on snow shoes, the US mail didn't even deliver that day. I have delivered the papers in Champlain Park for the last 7 1/2 years. I know every customer on the route by name. Most of the customers on this route love us and our children . This is the most profitable time of year for a carrier as many customers are generous. I am raising a family of seven children on only one salary and a little bit of money that I can get from this route. On Sunday I was informed I was no longer a carrier. I was not given a reason. I assume it is because the papers were delivered late. Neither the manager or James Frenyea would listen to our reason. Our papers are delivered close to the route every day for us to pick up. The normal delivery driver working for the Press forgot our papers at the Press. We didn't know if the Press broke down or were left somewhere else. We spent a lot of time trying to find them. We had to drive-in to get them. I have seen the manager at the press republican named James Frenyea treat his carriers and his direct employees including the managers as pawns not worthy of respect. We have not seen any increase in our carrier pay for over 10 years. I would encourage folks in the North Country to consider their investment in this newspaper.
