It is so rare that I write a negative review, but I was incredibly disappointed with my first (and only) transaction with Pressbox Printing in Altoona. As a brand new customer, I dropped off 60 prints for lamination (price quote $390). Upon pickup, I discovered that EVERY SINGLE PRINT had been damaged by the lamination process (see photos) and that one had been re-printed/copied and no longer matched the set. I was floored that no one had even bothered to contact me about these issues; had I not complained, they would have happily taken my credit card and charged me almost $400 for my damaged prints (six months worth of design work).
I asked why on EARTH someone had continued to laminate all 60 prints after damaging the first few, and received no answer. When I asked whether the lamination quality was normal, I was told "no" and co-owner Dave offered me the damaged prints at half price--because "the lamination material cost us $200." Co-owner Mike's solution was to trim off the laminate border "free of charge." Are you KIDDING me.
With no other recourse, they reluctantly gave back my work with the only "apology" being "I'm sorry we couldn't provide you with the service you needed." As a small business owner myself, I am appalled that Pressbox wouldn't take the steps to fix THEIR employee's mistake--no matter how much it cost them. As a graphic designer, photographer, and educator in the State College area with many local clients, I would NEVER recommend Pressbox Printing to any of my contacts. What a shame. read more
