Excellent Roof Repair Service! Highly recommend!!!…read more After last winter's ice damming caused leaks in my kitchen, I contacted JP Lucky Construction based on a friend's recommendation. From the start, Wendy was quick to respond and set up a free consultation within two days. James inspected my roof and offered an honest, practical solution without pushing for unnecessary work. The repair was done promptly and professionally, and Wendy kept me updated throughout. I'm very happy with their service and would highly recommend them!

On September 3, 2022, I entered a contract with Wendy, representing JP Lucky, for the framing of a…read morecustom home in Stouffville. Throughout the construction process, Wendy frequently changed the contractors assigned to the project--ultimately involving four to five different teams. I was present on-site regularly and personally observed these changes. The subcontractors engaged by JP Lucky often delivered substandard work. Once deficiencies were identified, JP Lucky would dismiss the existing team and hire new subcontractors to continue. Although I fulfilled my obligations under the contract, JP Lucky failed to complete the project on time, and the work completed was defective. Due to these issues, I submitted a claim for adjudication through the Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Construction Contracts (ODACC), Case No. XXXX. On December 18, 2024, ODACC issued its Determination, providing copies to both the Respondent and me. The Determination ordered the Respondent to reimburse me $XXX,XXX (including HST) and $X,XXX (including HST), representing 50% of the adjudication fee. Despite my repeated demands, JP Lucky has failed to comply with the Determination or remit the required payment. While Wendy and JP Lucky initially present themselves as amicable and reliable, their conduct reveals a failure to act in good faith. Despite receiving payment for services, they have refused to return funds for work that was either unfinished or materially deficient, thereby disregarding the interests of their clients.

Unlike most handyman companies that don't bother or don't like to fix a job that was not done right the first time, Lesley and her team really took care of things. She came with Mike to work with me and found the best solution at the best cost for the issue I was having. He fixed the job quickly and efficiently and I will be calling them again!

I contacted Icarus Services yesterday to repair a bedroom window at my sister's home. The…read moretechnician arrived while I was not present. He began the repair and initially quoted approximately $350. My sister was surprised by the high price, but because the window was unstable and at risk of falling, she felt pressured to proceed. After about 10 minutes of work, during which he had already removed the window from its frame, the technician informed her that the repair would actually cost $530, claiming he had discovered additional issues. At that point, my sister felt she had no choice but to agree, since the window was already removed and she could not stop the repair midway. The entire repair took about 40 minutes. The parts he replaced--shown in the attached photos--cost approximately $75 when purchased retail. This means the company charged $465 for 40 minutes of labour, which is unreasonable by any industry standard. At the end of the job, the technician requested cash payment, stating that he would "not charge taxes" if paid in cash. This is highly unprofessional and raises serious concerns. The following day, I contacted management to file a complaint. They were dismissive and only provided a receipt after I insisted and mentioned the technician's cash request. The receipt they issued is not itemized--no breakdown of parts, labour, or time spent--despite my request. This lack of transparency is unacceptable and appears intentional. I have home camera footage confirming the technician was present for only 40-45 minutes. I also have proof of the actual part costs. There is no justification for the inflated price, the mid job price increase, or the refusal to provide an itemized invoice. Lessons learned (and advice for others): * Always demand a final price before any work begins. * Never allow a contractor to change the price mid job. * Request an itemized estimate (parts + labour) before they start. * Ensure the time billed matches the actual time spent. * Always insist on an itemized receipt. A vague receipt is a red flag. I acknowledge that I made the mistake of allowing the work to begin without a confirmed final price, and my sister felt pressured. However, the company's behaviour--price changes mid job, refusal to itemize, and a request for cash to avoid taxes--is unacceptable and unprofessional. In my experience, this company's practices are predatory, and I would strongly caution others to avoid them

Within the…read morewarranty period, we started noticing significant issues with the coating [add specifics: e.g., peeling, bubbling, cracking, discoloration]. We contacted them right away to have it addressed. That was over 4 months ago. Despite repeated follow-ups, no one has come out to inspect or repair the work, and we've received no clear timeline or explanation for the delay. A warranty is only as good as the company's willingness to honor it, and so far that hasn't happened here. We'd gladly update this review if they follow through, but based on our experience, I can't recommend them until they start standing behind their own warranty.
