However, once it arrived, the lack of understanding with regards to how to grade the subservice base was bad as the "install team lead" had no idea about allowing for settling of the base. Supervision and leadership was severely lacking. The company promised follow up and fall/spring maintenance which has never occurred and no contact with the Owner/manager of local company has been non-existent. I had asked for assistance with levelling of the base as certain areas had settled. The owner said they would be able to do the work in April, 2026, and have yet to hear a word from him. No surface maintenance, no call-back, not a single word. I have been forced to look for someone else to help me with establishing a smooth playing surface of which I paid over 25,000.00 for with promises that have NEVER been fulfilled. I always want to support local companies but have continued to be bitten in the ass by lack of professionalism and integrity. This whole experience with SYNLawn has forced me to never recommend this company for "Intricate, precise" work that is needed with certain projects. If all you want is an artificial lawn and don't mind substandard work (in and out and on to the next job) then you can have them but don't expect true professional craftsmanship with an eye for detail. Short version: stood us up and were rude…read more Long version: In 2023 we spoke to Beyer about installing artificial turf and he was very nice and knowledgeable. His rates seemed good but we decided not to proceed for our own reasons. When we were able to go ahead this year, Lawn Guru was the first and only contractor we contacted. And it was all downhill from there. We were going to go ahead and had a date picked for the install. Beyer would not confirm the date, although he said he would get back to us and I asked several times. Other communication by text was fairly good and reasonably timely. I asked him to come by and reassess the space and have an in-person conversation about the work. He agreed and gave me a 1.5-hour window in which he would show up. At the end of that window I texted to ask if he was still coming and he said he would be here in 5 minutes. Another 40 minutes later, I texted again to ask if he was planning on rescheduling for the next day since it was getting dark. He replied that he had already been there, gotten no answer, quickly measured the yard, and left. I cannot say he was lying, but a) we never heard a knock on the door and b) we were sitting a room with huge windows directly overlooking the backyard space and never saw him wandering around out there. Our space is not square and it took me about 15 minutes to measure it so he had to have been there for at least 5-10 if he was very good. He didn't call when he got no answer, even though he knew we were waiting for him and he didn't knock on the back door (which is glass, so he would have seen we were home). We were left with wasted time having worked our evening around his timeline and waited for him for two hours for nothing. I requested he come back the next day and gave him a 1.5 hr window in which to make an appointment to come so we could work our day around him, again. I received no response and assumed he would not be coming. The next day, a text came in 23 minutes into the window of time I had given him asking if I was home. He replied "Be there in 10" when I responded that we were. More than 15 minutes after that message, I was told he (and a woman) had shown up. At the time, I was in my front yard in the middle of a time-sensitive task but my husband was there to receive them. 5 minutes after they showed up, I was finishing up my task and the woman came around to me with an annoyed, rude look on her face. I mentioned that I had asked them to let me know what time they would be coming in advance so we could work around them and that I was finishing up my task and would be there in just a few minutes. I may have sounded slightly annoyed by both the look on her face and the presumption that we would drop everything the moment they decided they were going to show up but I was not rude in any way. In addition, I had no reason to assume I even needed to be there since Beyer was already speaking to my husband. Less than a minute later I walked around to the back yard where they should have been speaking to my husband and they were walking off down the street. According to my husband, the woman came back, said "We are leaving" and Beyers walked away with her saying "See ya, bro!". There was no excuse for them to be so rude to us. The woman and/or Beyers could have easily started going over the work to be done with my husband and/or spoken to me while I was doing my task in the front yard. The woman never even greeted me, just shot me a dirty look. Beyers never came to speak to me at all. The lack of professionalism shocked me. I have come to expect that from contractors but since Beyer was so great in 2023, I did not expect it from him. I have never met the woman before so I do not know if this is normal for her. I had hoped to give them our business and refer them to others in our complex and our friends who would see their work and be impressed and interested to get their own artificial turf. Now it looks like we will have to recommend someone else.
