I made a six-hour drive to The Clyde Theatre for the Ryan Adams Heartbreaker 2025 Tour, my second…read moreshow of Ryan's in two days. So, yeah, I had high hopes, being a repeat concert attendee. This was my first time at The Clyde, and while the drink from the bar missed the mark--zero flavor and nothing like the picture on the menu--it was the only hiccup in an otherwise smooth night. I couldn't bring myself to drink the "Easy Tiger" (the only reason I bought it was because it was Ryan-themed, honestly) because it was sooo bad (deduction of star for this reason). When the lights dimmed and Ryan Adams took the stage, the sound wrapped around me, filling every corner of the space with his signature, aching voice. I won't go on too long about the sound, though--it's a Sweetwater Sound building and a Ryan Adams collaboration. The sound had no choice but to be tight, clean, and alive. Security was present but relaxed, letting the night unfold without being a distraction, something I have seen security be at other venues. Parking was easy--probably the closest I've ever been for a Ryan show. Like literally right outside the front door. What is this!? I can't leave out the art in the bathroom--unexpected and quirky, a small touch that speaks to the venue's attention to detail. I'd return to The Clyde without hesitation. It's a space that supports live original, soulful, introspective, haunting music with ease. Next time, I just hope the drink tastes as good as the show sounds.

Overall...not a good experience and I will not come back here for another concert/event…read more The seats were small and positioned tight to each other. Additionally the seats are hard plastic and not comfortable. Couple this with wide bottom people whose rear ends spill onto my seat...not a comfortable experience. I would much rather go to another venue that specializes in comfort that do the Clyde again. On the positive side...buying tickets was easy. There was lots of parking close to the door. The facility is very attractive. The bar looked like a fun place. The show was excellent. The lightning and sounds were very good! The security lady was not friendly. All business - get in the door. The ushers were nice and full of smiles. Very kind. I was actually mildly offended by the security team that was "pushing" us out the door. We waited for a lot of the crowd to clear as it was a packed show. We stepped into the aisle as we were the last of the crowd leaving. These two thug-type Gestapo looking man stared us down. Every step we. Iced forward - they moved. It felt like they were crowding and pushing out the door. His forbid I had to go back to my seat to retrieve a left item. Again...the show and facility were nice. The close seating and security people made the experience not worthy of repeating!

My family and I came to the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre about a month ago. It was my mothers birthday…read moreand I got tickets for all of us as a birthday gift for her. We drove to Fort Wayne hoping to watch good theatre. The Civic Theatre is part of a larger complex called Arts United center which has a philharmonic, art exhibits and other cultural venues. The staff is friendly and helpful. The lines in will call are practically non-existent. The lines in the ticket booth are not much larger. There are certainly some negatives 1) No valet parking. Parking is also a rather long walk from theatre. I am used to theaters with either valet parking or at worst a nearby parking lot. May not be a problem for me, but my mother is older and she does have problems walking long distances. Several other patrons were also in the same situation. The nearest parking garage is several blocks away. 2) the seats are narrow and a bit uncomfortable. The narrowness didn't bother me, but my brother is larger and it was a tight fit for him. Not a lot of cushion on the seat though 3) The decor is a bit spartan compared to other theaters I have been to. 4) No alcohol sold either before the play or during intermission. They do sell sodas/pop and small snacks. I still believe though that even with these negatives, it is worth coming. The play was entertaining and well acted. My mother loved her birthday gift. Whats better than that?

Last month I took my family to see the Nutcracker Ballet by the Fort Wayne Ballet in the Arts…read moreUnited Center. My family have seen that ballet done before in Miami, Florida by the Miami City Ballet. We moved nearby to Van Wert, back in 2020, and were excited to finally see ballet again. My family and I also love in particular the Nutcracker ballet so we were especially excited. Moreover, my mother's breast cancer surgery was schedule a few weeks after this and I was hoping this would cheer her up. First thing i will say, is I love how the ballet company was selling nutcracker Christmas ornaments. One of my two Christmas trees in my house is one decorated in that theme, so I took advantage and bought several ornaments I did not have to add to my tree. The ornaments are made by Kurt Adler, which are great quality... well worth the price. They also sold nutcrackers (of course), and they were selling nutcracker themed chocolate from local chocolatier DeBrand Chocolates. Since I am chocolate obsessed, I also bought some. Already just a few steps in, I was happy due to the goodies I was taking home. Before I entered the area in the Arts United Center where the ballet was taking place, there was a booth for the Fort Wayne Humane Society. They were there to get support from the public and also go showcase a few of the animals they have up for adoption. Two small little black kittens, who were a few months old and two cute dogs. I thought it was very nice of the ballet company to have this booth there, i love animals. What was really cool, is those two dogs up for adoption actually were part of the ballet. They showed up as the dogs of several of the adults who brought their children to the Christmas celebration that forms the beginning of the ballet. What a clever idea! The scenery of the ballet was incredibly well done. The Arts United Center is a bit spartan, less beautiful and decorated than other theaters I have gone to. To make it beautiful, and make you believe you are in a literal winter wonderland, you have to have incredible set design... which they did. I loved how before intermission, right as the curtains were dropping... artificial show came down from the ceiling onto everyone watching the ballet. Wow! Magical! Were the dancers as polished as those in Miami? No. But wow, I enjoyed the ballet more in Fort Wayne due to all the things I described above. It was just a better overall experience. When my family got home, I got onto their website and got tickets for future productions. My family had a wonderful time! My mom left with a smile on her face! I added some beautiful ornaments to my tree! I love Fort Wayne Ballet!
