I honestly viewed it as due diligence more than anything. But Sally really impressed us. She made good suggestions, listened to our desires and was quick to help us zero in on the types of things we were looking for (and not waste time looking at things we didn't want). It was clear to me she had many years of experience working in this field. In the end, her bid for our job came in just sightly higher than the quote we got from Costco, and the difference was so negligible that it was a wash for me. We liked the options Sally had slightly better, and we honestly just liked Sally a lot more than the sales guy from the Costco vendor. We also were super impressed with the gentleman who came to install the blinds. Tony, I think. I laughed in disbelieve when he told me it would take an hour but it was pretty close. He was a total pro, and he knew exactly what he was doing. I appreciated that he noticed that the valence wasn't 100% perfect and so he had them order a replacement that was 100% perfect. The attention to detail was great, and we were very pleased with that. In addition, the blinds look GREAT. They look like they were custom-stained to match our room and they were cut perfectly for the space. We could not ask for better and it's improved our room tremendously. For the first few days I didn't even want to leave the livingroom. I just wanted to sit there and stare at my pretty window. Thanks, Sally!

After getting them installed the color didnt seem right with our paint. I thought maybe they made a mistake. Steve came back out and they were right. But he said they would reorder a different color with their satisfaction guarantee. We were so impressed with their customer service.

I got two kinds of shades that look really, really good. Seriously, I love the way they look. The shades themselves are made by Graber; this company employs the sales and install people. In particular, my installer (Nate) was very fast and knowledgable. I will probably always wonder just how much cheaper this could have been if I had gone a cheaper route, but other than the price tag I'm very happy.

He brought in one book with one style of blind. Seriously only decision I could make is color. I asked if he had other sample books with him. He replied 'this book has the best options for my windows'. I have standard Anderson casement windows, an interior French door, and a sliding patio door. The only unusual window I have is a half circle over one casement. I wanted honeycomb style, and one top down blind that can open the top but keep lower window covered for privacy. He showed me a cheap single Z-fold that I could add a room darkening layer to for added privacy! The quote was very high for the low quality. But I would receive a Costco gift card worth 10% back of what I paid to Custom Blinds. Injury to insult when I asked about options for the half-circle. I was hoping for a soft fan style blind. He said they don't make blinds like that. I said but your name is Custom Blinds? He said we have new owners and they only buy Graber brand blinds in sizes offered by the factory. Steer clear, don't waste your time with them.

A woman called me on a Thursday to schedule installation for the following Monday at 8:00 a.m. No one showed up. I had to wait until 10 a.m. when they opened to call and ask where the installer was. No answer, so I left a message. I didn't receive a call back until 10:30 when they said the installer called in sick, but they did commit to sending someone out that afternoon. Great! Except he only showed up with 4 out of the 5 window treatments we ordered. I called Home Depot to ask about they 5th window treatment and they said it would be shipped separately and they were surprised that the company didn't wait to receive the entire order before scheduling install. The Home Depot rep said the shade would be at the installer by the following Monday. I waited two additional weeks to see if they would call to schedule the installation, but heard nothing. Finally I called the Home Depot to check on the status. They said they would call the Drapery Place to follow up. Low and behold, the Drapery Place calls me an hour later to schedule an install for this morning at 9:30 a.m. Do you think the installer has shown up? Of course not! And now I (AGAIN) need to wait until they open to figure out what is going on. I have wasted SO much time as a result of their ineptitude, so if you value your time I highly recommend you go ELSEWHERE. It's so unfortunate, too, because I like to support the local guy, but terrible service like this drives customers away.

The original installers were friendly, but sloppy: they accidentally drilled several holes in my new patio door frame for an inside mount when the product was made for an outside mount (damage is still not repaired). Of the 21 items purchased, 4 had to be sent back for repair/replacement (not due to Draperly Place error), I had to call back a month later to check in the status of the repairs. Round two of the install: whoever prepped the order in Bloomington sent the installers out with 3 of the 4 items, but included a product from another customers order. In the meantime, one of the shades originally installed turned out to be malfunctioning so in addition to still being down 1 shade, I had to send back another item. Once again, I had to call to follow up on the status of my order in April. I was told the items were ready but that the installers only worked Tuesdays and Thursdays - despite the inconvenience, I agreed to be home a couple of weeks later (the earliest of the restricted days I could manage). I was assured I would be the first stop of the day between 7-8am. By 8am, I no one had arrived so I left for work and called the Drapery Place (which mysteriously is never answered by a person - only a series of voicemail messages) and requested that since I had to leave, could the installers just leave the products on my porch so I could put them up myself and be done with this. My call was returned about 6 hours later with a vague message about how they could stop in later that day, or the following morning "whatever was easiest for me." By this point, I've had it. I returned their phone call and had to leave another message asking for the 2nd time if they could just drop off the items. No one has called me back - that was over a week ago. For the money spent and their access to resources, I expect more from Home Depot! From a customer service standpoint, this has to be one of the most painful experiences I've ever had. Waiting 6 months for a few window treatments is unacceptable!
