This ia a great place to learn about Tae kwon do…read more Having practiced Tae kwon do myself growing up I know how much you can gain from it - both in terms of discipline and control as well as from a sports perspective. The guys behind Sangrock are worldclass. Master Singh is very involved in the global Tae kwon do business and him and his instructors reflect the true meaning behind this sport. I had my now 9 year old in this school since he was 6 and he achieved some amazing things - next year my now 5 year old will start there (he asks me about it every day). This is one of the better schools in Charlotte - not primarily about "fighting" or "self defense" but about control and body/mind liaison.

Sadly as she gets older, it becomes more apparent to other peers that she is different and is often treated as such. She strives so hard to be a part of a team and participate with peers but often can not achieve the same pace, especially in organized sports. When we joined CMAA, she immediately took to it. It is a team environment but she is free to move at her own pace. Everyone is at a different level of their journey so there is no ahead or behind. Everyone from instructors to staff to students have been more than welcoming and not one time has she ever been made to feel she is different. She takes great pride in her accomplishments and is so proud to achieve each next step. She has made major strides in all forms of life while studying at CMAA, everything from physical improvements of balance and control to mental improvements of discipline, control, and socialization. She takes pride in the many things she learns about respect and discipline and uses these in everyday life. I cannot say enough about how great this has been for her and her development. It is teaching her skills to not only defend herself but more importantly how to succeed in her life. It is a great environment for any kid of any age to start. You will see the difference it makes right away.

So we ended up walking away :(

I have interactions with all staff members regularly all of which are always very pleasant, helpful, and caring! They have gone above and beyond teaching my child Tae Kwon Do skills. When picking my child up they ask about school, grades, extra curricular activities, etc. In class Master Bun has worked to improve my child's confidence, holds high expectations for my child, and pushes my child to achieve those by giving constant positive encouragement as needed. Master Ron fixed a band instrument for us which was a life saver that night! Both Master Ron & Master Bun have been wonderful to our family and awesome to work with!

From day one, there's nothing intimidating, macho, or uninviting about being here. Students old and new are genuinely excited to welcome you into the Black Belt USA family. I have trained martial arts in a number of other locations and styles, and I can say that Muay Thai at BBUSA is the absolute elite choice.

They even provide feedback when they get a chance during class changes. It's a community type of atmosphere if you allow yourself to engage and participate. I made the financial sacrifice because my son needed something like this after being beat up in school. Coming here really boosted his self-esteem and confidence. They were positive, upbeat, and provided great directions. The room was full of kids 4-10 and a few parents joined in too. Each kid got a headband to keep. They went through what is respect, and kept reminding them to say yes/no sir/mama, and would call them out when they didn't. They showed them correct way to stand, and ran through several drills. The most impressive thing was the demo the instructors did. They showed the kids different ways to break wooden boards. Then each kid got to break a board!! They handed out an information packet with offers. I was shocked birthday parties were only $145, with unlimited kids. My only issue was at the end of the party it was very rushed to get us out so the next one could come in.
