Really cold, inside and out of the water, and with very little provisions and facilities for swimmers, it's not the best. It's never busy in term time though, so if you fancy a splashing up and down for a while, it's not too crowded. It's probably best if you wait till you get home for a shower as there's only one, which looks out onto the pool. The building is quite interesting, it looks a little like a church, and has a balcony all around for spectators. The council really needs to step up its game though, or it will definitely loose out to the likes of the Lido in Clifton or other private pools.

If you spot a colourful balloon above the Bristol skies there's a good chance it might be a Bailey Balloon. What's lovely, is you experience the whole shabang, you don't just turn up and jump in and out, the whole experience lasts 3 or 3 hours as you help help prepare the balloon for flight and find out about all the internal workings. It should definitely go on your something to do before you die list!

I'd already seen children wandering in there in their karate gear, so I knew they did some classes there - but I had no idea how many. In fact, they do 5-a-side, basketball, netball, fitness classes, dance classes, yoga, martial arts, and even language lessons! They have a Welsh children's nursery, host after school activities and holiday programmes, and parents and tots groups. I had no idea there was so much going on right through the week. There's also a car park at the back of the building, which is handy! Well worth checking out if you're new to Canton and want to find some local activities.

The Thursday group is Welsh speaking and Welsh nursery rhymes are sung, although a lot of non Welsh speakers and triers also go. The hall is vaste and 'islands' of mats, activities and toys fill it. You pay a couple of quid and you get tea, squash, biscuits and apples. The other parents seem friendly and me little one loved it. Next to the hall and within the same building is a Welsh speaking nursery for 2 year olds to primary. I went to check it out and got a really good first impression of it. Forgot all the questions I was going to ask, just saw a room full of happy children, that seemed to be all that mattered.

It's a bowling alley - by now surely we all know what to expect - accept that sometimes there maybe a long wait to get a lane at busy times so as soon as you get into the building register to bowl then get to the bar and sink a few and you'll probably bowl better. Last time I went there I asked for the biggest sized shoes - they gave me a size 15. Why? It was funny and they were brand new - no chance of getting a varuca there then!

It can be expensive on the weekend to bowl but if you fancy a midweek dabble and there's a few of you then it can work out pretty inexpensive. It's always worth booking just in case because even though there's a million lanes, you never know in Cardiff. The bar is nice aswell with quite a modern feel to it. It's totally soulless and overpriced as you'd expect but it does a job if you're waiting for a film in the cinema nearby. It's also got some of the nicest pool tables in Cardiff outside of Riley's. I love going here though and it's got that typical hustle and bustle that you always get in bowling alleys. It's the same kind of background noise and fun atmosphere that you get in a good casino, except it's great for kids and you might just have some money left at the end of the night.
