There are two levels of car driving available - a modern go-kart racing track for juniors and adults, and a more serious off road driving course only available for people holding full driving licenses. One of those things which is great for an expensive birthday / Christmas present or simply a treat of your really into cars and driving. There's a junior Birthday package available for an hour and a half of fun for up to 10 little drivers, it costs £350 so isn't cheap but promises to be an exciting experience all round.

It's quite hard to find down several winding lanes past Whitchurch and towards the village of Hunstrete. When we arrived we were amused that the people who would be instructing us were two oicky looking teenage boys who had obviously been quad biking since they were in the womb and thought smoking was like the coolest thing. But they actually turned out to be fairly good at getting us out of all the scrapes we got into and teaching us techniques to help us have a good time. Despite what the website says we did have a quad each and were not allowed to progress through the different driving tracks until we had improved our skills and confidence. Needless to say within ten minutes we were doing everything at top speed with some pretty hilarious results. And the week after everybody felt like they had been run over because you use all sorts of muscles you were not aware you had. It's an ideal place for hen and stag parties as they also do paintball and laser tag and offer lots of group friendly packages. And the estate they work on seems fairly extensive in size. Just glad I don't have to live next door to it!

First of all their use of the phrase 'Unlimited' is a little misleading, you are put into groups, given a few laps, then another group has a go. You follow this order several times until around 11pm. This meant that in about 5 hours we had less than an hour on the track. There was nothing to do between times, I wish i'd brought a book. The go-karting itself was fun, though occasionally I would get a kart that did not accommodate hips so would feel incredibly cramped and restricted. There was no tutorial apart from the obvious 'go', 'stop', 'don't get out of the kart and get run over', so I must confess to causing a collision or two due to my complete lack of knowledge when it came to knowing when to accelerate and break around the bends. Hydration was necessary and the drinks were expensive as they clearly knew that we would need them. I asked for tap water and was begrudgingly given some in a mug that looked like it was owned by a member of staff; clearly distributing a free drink was a rarity. If you are an experienced go-karter, this will be a fun place for you; for the uninitiated it was alienating and awkward, I wasn't encouraged to go again especially considering the length of time it took for my bruises to go afterwards!
