Luckily after touring 4 different daycare facilities around Wauwatosa (where I live) and Muskgeo (where I work), we found Grandma's house. A huge plus is that the center is a 3 minute drive and less than 15 minute walk from our house. Also, we love V's teachers- They have made the transition to daycare so much easier, trusting that they are providing lots of opportunities for playing, learning and interacting with others. Grandma's house does family style homemade meals and they try to keep the center very clean (constant handwashing and parents must wear blue booties over their shoes when they enter). They're also very willing to go with the flow with their schedule. Rather than having exact start and end times for activities, they adjust the start and end times to fit with how the day is going. The kids nap at different times depending on their need for the day, which then allows for kids to have more one on one time while other kids nap. The only thing that is challenging for my family and this center is the cost. I think they provide financial assistance for families in great need, which we are not. But we're kind of at the edge, where this is a bit more than we can really budget, but can't imagine settling for less. However, I won't take off a star for this, because they are willing to let teachers or others who only work part of the year, take off during the summer at no penalty. This keeps her attendance there within our financial ability. Overall, we are very pleased so far. If you're searching for a daycare nearby here, make this one stop on your list!

I get updated every time she goes to the bathroom, what and how much she ate, and minimally one picture a day, sometimes more. I LOVE Haley, the director. And ms. Jackie and ms. Karen from the two year old room are the absolute best. Very satisfied.

Also a couple of weeks ago we noticed when we would drop him off no one would acknowledge us so of course my child didn't feel welcome and then he would tell us this child would push and hit him. What bugs me the most is that no one said anything to us but I found out from my child and then when I confronted the teacher she played it off as a game! How is pushing and shoving a game? What if someone got hurt? Also did the teacher really see it happen and wouldn't they stop it if it did? I paid all this money for him to be well taken care of and apparently no one cares! Why couldn't the teacher tell me when I go to pick up my child that something like this happened before I had to find out from my child! He use to love going but he didn't want to go anymore. Right after I brought this up to the teacher my husband took my son to drop him off and that's when they started acknowledging him but to him it seemed really fake meaning very over dramatic. The next day I called to talk to the director and she would play it off and make it seem like it was no big deal and then she proceeds to tell me nicely that it could have been my child fault! That is when I had to stop her and tell her that we wouldn't be attending there again. I found out later that day that this has happened to other parents and it is unacceptable! We are paying them a lot of money to make sure our children have a safe place to play and learn. Also another thing I need to bring up is that we decided to have my 3 year old do phonics only to find that his workbook looked like his teachers did it for him just by how perfect it looked... I am so very upset. I do not recommend kindercare to anyone especially at the cedarburg location. Please beware!!! I also sent this info to Kindercare but apparently they don't care.

So, after a number of days of bypassing their own "three strikes" policies and forcing us to pick him up early after a single minor incident (still charging us the full rate, mind you), they unceremoniously kicked him out without warning us that we were anywhere close to that possibly happening. Which, ok, I get from their perspective and communication could have been better - BUT. The reason this is a 1-star review and I won't recommend Glendale Heights to any other parents? Is because, for that last week that he was allowed to attend, it seems that he was told that he was being kicked out and it was _his_ fault, and not Glendale Heights' inability to accommodate his needs. For weeks, we had a 2-year-old constantly melting down every time he realized he did something wrong and _physically beating himself up_ for it. Who blames a 2-year-old like that? Who tells a 2-year-old they're a bad kid? We will forever regret sending our child to Glendale Heights.
