Friday, May 20th
I found very nice returned fencing and was told a matching gate would cost roughly $350 and take a couple of weeks. She instructed me to call Malia when I was ready to order, and gave me a brochure with the color circled.
Saturday, May 21st
I called in and was told Malia would call me Monday to complete the order.
Thursday, May 26th
Thinking I had been overlooked, I called in and spoke to Malia. She said she was waiting to hear from me, and I could come in the next day to pick up the fencing and complete the order.
Friday, May 27th
I borrowed a larger vehicle and took part of the morning off from work to look at stone and pick up the fence. When I arrived I was told
that it was not out and it was unclear how long it would take to get it. I was invited to wait for someone to return from a job site and find out, him, but I chose to go to work.
I wanted to have the fence so I could choose matching stone and get started that weekend, so I was annoyed. I foolishly agreed to pay for the purchase, including the now $450 fence that would take two weeks to arrive. I made the purchase on the condition that they would tell me the width of the fence, so that I could build the stone pillars at the appropriate distance. They did not know, so Diane had Malia print the instructions for me, and said that that would give the answer.
Upon arriving home, I discovered that the instructions had the dimension of the gate, but not the gate plus posts and mounting. At this point I had been told to await a call that never came, told to miss work and come in when it was not ready, and fully paid in exchange for information that was not there. I called back in and said to put my order on hold.
That evening Adam called to placate me. He said that the fencing would be available on Tuesday (after Memorial Day), and offered to deliver it if they were working in South Minneapolis. I told him that I was concerned about the reliability of information from them. I asked him if the fence would definitely be ready on Tuesday. He said yes. I said that if they were coming here on Tuesday or Wednesday then I would like it delivered. Otherwise I wanted to pick it up because I needed to get started on this project. I do not understand how he could have misunderstood me.
Wednesday, June 1st
Not having heard from anyone, I decided to call and cancel the next day.
Thursday, June 2nd
I was busy at work, and didn't have a chance to call in. At home I received a message from Adam saying that the fencing would be ready the next day. Why he called my home mid-morning when he had my work number I don't know. I spoke to him that evening or Friday morning, and told him that I had little faith in anything I heard from them, was unsure the materials would be ready if I made the trip, and had no idea how long it would take to actually get the gate. He told me that it would take 2 to 3 weeks, and he was certain because he did the ordering. I tried to explain that after these mistakes I had no confidence in his claims. I asked why he had not called at the beginning of the week, and he told me that he was waiting to see if anyone would be working here Tuesday or Wednesday. When they did not have projects he called to let me know to come pick it up.
I had told him I needed to get started, so if they couldn't drop it off Tuesday or Wednesday I wanted to come pick it up. Why would I want to wait longer to not get free delivery? It makes no sense. I couldn't pick it up Friday with such short notice, so that was another weekend lost. At this point I was furious, but figured that I had paid and so I might as well get the stuff.
Monday, June 6th
I arranged transportation and took off part of the morning. The fencing was brought out a few minutes after I arrived, and I was happy to be done with that. On the way into work a careless driver hit me while making an illegal turn. My wrists were sprained and I have been unable to do any heavy labor until now. This is not the fault of Premier, but it is their fault that I was repeatedly misled about the timeline for pickup. If I had known how long it would take to get IN STOCK fencing I would have looked elsewhere and been done before the accident. Instead I have been delayed for weeks.
Friday, June 17th
I believe this is the day the gate arrived.
Tuesday, June 28th
We put the fence up to see what it would look like and discovered that the gate is a different color.
Wed June 29th
I called early afternoon and was referred to Adam, who was on another line. I left my name and work number. When I returned from work at 7 PM I had a message from him at home asking me to call.
Thu June30th
I called at 10 AM, and Adam was unavailable. At this point the gate will need to be reordered, so even the revised 2-3 week timeline will actually be 5-6 weeks minimum. Ouch. read more
