I've been in charge of the day to day banking of my and my families business since the mid 1980's. Many banks have come and gone. One stands out. That is Bank West The service level is un-matched. The staff is strong and has experience in depth. They make a habit of saying 'lets see if we can get that done' instead of quoting from a policy manual of why it can't be done. My wife and I are smart consumers who have spent 25 years studiously saving and spent frugally We understand 'needs' and 'wants'. Three times in this economic downturn we have been able to take further steps to our long term financial dreams. You know, the kind of plans that take decades to build. Each time Bank West has been our partner in our pursuits. Can you say the following? "Our hard work and savings combined with our bank are making our DREAMS come true". I can. It is Sunday, my account is locked and I have absolutely no way to unlock it. I tried logging in online, and it's giving me an error that says "opps something went wrong." I tried to call to get a live person or even a computer to validate my purchases and unlock my account, I am getting a busy signal when i click on the prompt. They say they specialize in customer service, however this is customer service at it's worst. If you mind not getting a hold of a person or a computer that can actually help you on a Sunday, I definitely would not open an account with this bank. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON A WEEKEND. The teller said we had to make an appointment with a banker to renew the CD & that the soonest appointment was in an hour & 10 minutes. We decided to take that appointment & wait in the lobby. The lobby has exactly 2 chairs, so it's SRO for most of the people waiting to see a banker. (Thankfully a woman gave up her chair for my Dad.) The bankers' office walls that face the lobby are floor to ceiling glass, such that it is easy to see what is going on in each office. In one of the offices a woman sat at her desk intently scrolling her phone. In another, 2 women were chatting, obviously not about business because we could easily hear them from where we were. After we waited an hour and 20 minutes, my Dad's frustration led him to return to the teller to complain. Only then did anyone else pay attention to him & tell him he could see a banker now. My Dad pulled his money from his Blaze accounts & closed them due to how he felt he was treated. If you are looking for a credit union for your banking, I'd suggest you avoid Blaze.

She had to scrounge around in two different tills and then go into a back room to scrape up enough money to give me, some of which was in $5 denominations. What sort of bank has no cash on hand? Fast forward a year: In attempting to close another account, we've been transferring money into our account at Midwest. I had my other bank send me a fairly large check, which I intended to deposit at Midwest. Went over there today, a Friday, only to have the rather sleepy-looking cashier tell me that both managers were off for the weekend (!), and that he was the only employee in the bank and so couldn't help me (!!). WTF? We will be closing this account and going somewhere where customer service is still a priority. The very substantial amount of cash from our home sale will also be going elsewhere. AVOID THIS PLACE.
