Dear Sameern and Channy, I am writing to express my deepest…read moreappreciation for the exceptional care you have provided to my son, Gabriel Gonzalez, here at Kentfield Marin Hospital on August 28. You both have been incredibly compassionate, loving, kind, and professional. You keep Gabriel clean and comfortable, answer every question I have, and speak to him with patience and respect. Whenever I ask for anything, you respond so quickly and make sure his needs are addressed. Your attentiveness and dedication have touched my heart deeply. Gabriel has been sick for one year and eight months and has received care at several hospitals. Although there have been caring people at each facility, the care he has received here has truly stood out. The compassion and kindness you have shown make me feel that Gabriel is being treated as someone very special--not simply as a patient. I could write a thousand-page letter and still not fully express how grateful I am for everything you do. Your care goes above and beyond, and I want you to know how much your hard work means to both Gabriel and me. Thank you again for your outstanding service, your warm hearts, and the dignity and respect you show my son every day. You are both a blessing, and Kentfield Marin Hospital is fortunate to have you on its staff. With sincere gratitude, Teresa Gonzales Mother of Gabriel Gonzales

THE WORST CARE. My brother had a traumatic brain injury…read more(TBI) in June. I will bypass his care up until he was transferred to Kentfield. He was at Kaiser in Oakland where his recovery was going well. He was having physical therapy every day where he was starting to walk with assistance, occupational and speech therapy regularly. He also was starting on a soft food diet about two days before he was transferred. Things were looking good. When he got to Kentfield, for a reason unknown to us they switched him to pureed food, which is a step backward. He laid in bed for days. His therapies became minimal at most. HIs NG tube was constantly falling out or being pulled out even with his hands restrained. He was heavily sedated at night so the nurses would not have to 'deal with him' until we asked them not to do it. The effects from the sedation lasted into the next day where all he wanted to do is sleep. How can someone go through therapies and get better if they don't do it because he is sleepy or asleep? Made no sense. The incident that put this over the top was he was in a wheelchair at some point and he was left unattended and fell out of the wheelchair and hit his head. WHAT the heck - he has a traumatic brain injury and they let this happen. I had it by this point. To make us feel better they had a 'sitter' placed in his room 24 hours a day, like that was supposed to make us feel better???? Always after the fact they take action. His PA was a joke. She was so scattered. No one could make a decision on anything. No follow through was ever done. It was us having to ask for information and even have 'meetings' at our request to get up to speed on their plan of care. The food - don't get me started. I have to mention they are going through a kitchen renovation (5 months - yes, 5 months into the job) and it still wasn't finished. The food was brough in daily from a third party. To say it was nasty is an understatement. Disgusting is probably a better word to describe it. They just don't care. No one there does. Do not let the admin staff BS you and convince you they are an excellent facility. They are not. It was all sweet talk because empty beds don't make money. TRUTH! I worked as an EMT for 9 years and was in hundreds of facilities like this so take my word - don't do it.

Dr. Cornell, listened to me and actualy cared about my results.

"Compassion paired with courage."…read more I want to share my experience with Carol in the VA advocacy office because what she did for us goes far beyond ordinary help. Carol showed the kind of compassion, courage, and skill that you rarely see in any system, and she did it with complete grace. I came to her with concerns about an elderly veteran who was clearly vulnerable and being taken advantage of. Navigating a situation like that is complicated, emotional, and fragile. But Carol handled it in the most thoughtful, respectful way I've ever witnessed. She protected him without making him feel embarrassed, criticized, or ashamed. She made him feel safe -- and she made me feel safe too. She asked careful questions, looked at the situation from every angle, and gently guided the conversation so everyone's needs were honored. She set boundaries without hurting anyone's feelings. She advocated without escalating. And she managed to defend someone who needed protection without making a single person defensive. That is a rare gift. For the first time in a long time, I saw a VA staff member step into a difficult situation with genuine compassion, wisdom, and patience. She didn't judge, she didn't rush, and she didn't dismiss anything we shared. Instead, she created a calm space where the veteran felt respected, supported, and understood. I walked away thinking: This is what advocacy is supposed to look like. If the VA had more people like Carol--people who can be both protective and kind, both strong and gentle--the entire system would feel different for veterans and for the families who support them. She is truly exceptional.

It's my heart, you know?! It's my ticker, and it has slipped backed into Afib. I mean, I had it…read moreonce before and had a cardioversion done at Kaiser to correct it, and it worked. But now I no longer have Kaiser, and I am a man who fears change. But let me share with you all about my experience at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. My Cardiologist Dr. Sidhu was absolutely amazing, I couldn't wait for each of my next appointments (weird right?) But he made me feel safe and informed about everything that needed to happen, where I was at in the process, and what was his most educated plan of action to get my ticker back ticking right. He was thorough folks! I appreciate that kind of service. Then, they didn't make me wait months out San Ramon Regional Medical Center acted promptly at this serious matter, even if they did this everyday, I couldn't tell. They took my Afib seriously. We can get you in Friday for a cardioversion because you have taken your pradaxa consistently we can move forward. I arrived at the hospital at 8 am for prep. Hospitable guards, check in folks, all the way to the nurses. Prep time was swift and efficient. The entire time people are sharing with me what to expect and reassuring me that I will be ok. Perhaps fear shown on my disposition. My previous experience was nothing like this, not comparing, I appreciate Kaiser and the professionals there, but this felt sooooo safe. My Cardioversion without TEE, happened and when I woke my ticker was right back where it should be and I was met with a slew of caring physicians who wanted to see my smile with a regular heart beat. I recommend San Ramon Regional Medical Center for all your medical needs. They will not disappoint!!!!

This has been my families hospital since it was established. My first encounter was taking my 13…read moreyear old son to the ER when he was having terrible seizures. The first time we were there the ambulance had put a neck brace on and strapped him to the board they carry you with. They left him strapped in a bed in the ER this way with NOBODY WATCHING HIM. I told the nurse he usually is nauseous and vomits after a seizure. She dismissed my concerns and walked away leaving me alone with my son who promptly started vomiting WHILE STRAPPED DOWN AND IMMOBILE. I grabbed the board, turned the board and him sideways so the vomit would not drown him. I screamed "I need a little help here!" And after a minute the nurse came running to help. She said "oh I guess we could take off the neck brace." Holy shit lady you almost killed my son, geez ya think? If I wasn't there my son would have died because they weren't looking in on him. Next was my mom who tripped and landed on her wrist which shattered it. They admitted her but since it was the evening they had NO ONE to take care of her arm so they made her sleep overnight with her shattered wrist by itself LAYING ON A PILLOW. They weren't going to give her any pain meds either until I asked for them. Next was my dad a year ago. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and they know this. My dad went to the emergency room from his care home so no one was with him. When he was being discharged transport people were there to pick him up. They left him in the ER room by himself and my dad thought he would get out of ER bed and to the transport bed on his own. Well he fell and broke his hip. This is entirely the hospitals fault. They left him alone knowing he had Alzheimer's and not able to walk. They then MISSED that he had broken his hip released him and sent him back to his care home. He ended up in a huge amount of pain overnight and had to go back to the same hospital. While he was admitted there his nurse decided to square up on me when I was voicing my concerns. Next up! My mother was admitted with a bad infection last week. She has dementia and she freaked out and lost her mind while in there. All the hospital did was call me to talk to her on the phone at all times of the day and night. I am on crutches and it's very painful to walk so couldn't be there all the time. The nurses looked to US to control her behavior while there - isn't that their job?? I was traumatized by seeing my mom in that mental condition that they left up to the family to handle. She kept trying to leave, kept accusing people in the hospital of assaulting her (no they didn't) she was aggressive and agitated all hours of the day AND night and they did NOTHING. Edited to add: flashes from last week are coming back. One of the days I was hurriedly hobbling into the medical center (on my crutches) and was in the 2nd floor elevator, just as I walked out I heard overhead "CODE GRAY - CODE GRAY" and the nurses station that happened to be right in front of me ALL of the workers (nurses, EVERYBODY) audibly groaned and let out very loud audible gasps and groans and said very accusatory and loudly "It's THAT lady!" and "Oh my GOD!" I felt so very humiliated and embarrassed because I just knew it was about my mother who they were unable to manage. Please tell your workers (because I know you are reading this) to NOT be so very childlike and unprofessional to do something like this. Tell them the family might be rushing to the hospital - and could hear them - to manage their mother when the hospital couldn't or wouldn't.
