The presentation was stunning and I loved the meal. The bread was toasted yet still soft enough to bite. The pesto and veggies were a perfect savory topping. We also ordered the zucchini planks, which were plentiful on the plate and paired well with the dipping sauces. My friend ordered a veggie wrap that came with a side of fresh fruit, and had nothing but positive things to say about the dish. We both ordered white wine (I had a pinot grigio and she had a riesling) to go with our vegetarian meals. Huge props to the chef, Matt! We loved it all! Our server, Susy, was so nice and accommodating. She was a pleasure to talk to and did a great job serving! We also got to meet Brad, who walked around to each table and chatted with the members (he also recommended the veggie tartare, such a good call). Mark (Sales & Catering Director) gave us a tour of their event space, as we are looking for a venue for a bridal shower. He was great! Very personable and knowledgeable of everything Edgewood has to offer. He gave us a packet of information to go home with. They renovated their main event spaces in early 2020, and we were very impressed with the classy look and feel of each room! Every person we met at Edgewood was friendly and attentive. Bag drop was efficient, and the course was in pristine shape. Nice from the tee box, through fairways, to nice rolling greens! Fun to play...with interesting challenges. After hitting the little white ball around we enjoyed a delicious buffet supper. Staff kept busy checking on guests and keeping thing tidy and clean. The clubhouse building and facilities are obviously well-kept, attended to and clean. This is a quality country club. If I lived closer I'd be a member for sure!

Golf Course Review - Williams Golf and Country Club - 071617…read more I played the Williams Golf and Country Club (WGCC) course on 7/16/17. The par 72 course is a private club with a long history dating back to 1932. I have known about it since I was a kid but never had the chance to play it. It always had the reputation of being in great shape and a special place to play. Since I was visiting my parents near Pittsburgh, I checked out the WGCC website and found they offered a 'member for a day' promotion for $59 that included greens fee, cart, and a drink. I called to check on availability and it was my good fortune to set up a midafternoon tee time that was on the same day as the second day of the men's club championship. I figured this timing should present the course at its best condition. WGCC is a short drive from the Pittsburgh suburbs down Route 22 and once you exit Route 22 and negotiate a few turns and a steep hill climb, you enter a piece of property that has large trees shading the entrance, and makes you feel like you stepped back in time to an old school kind of country club. The design was interesting. Every hole seemed to be different from any other and presented a scenic and tight challenge with mature trees lining the fairways. Since the course is laid out across the top of a hill, most of the holes seemed to slope toward the right. This course is not overly long, and some of the holes invite you to try and bomb it, but if you do, you will spend a lot of time chipping back to a fairway out of the trees. WGCC requires patience and strategy when playing it. The course is a par 72 that includes 3 par fives and 3 par threes. The two par fives on the front nine follow each other as the third and fourth holes, and were the longest two holes on the course. The par three sixth hole was a bear playing at 243 yards that day. Several of the par fours were relatively short at 350 yards, but the mature trees made placement of tee shots critical. The eighth hole was a downhill par three that only measured 133 yards but was surrounded by sand traps. The course is located about 3 miles off Route 22 and using my iPhone's map function made it easier to find. I played the blue tees which is one of seven tees or combinations available. The blue tees play to 6,586 yards with a rating of 72.2 and slope of 138. The various tee combinations play from 6,586 yards to a short course of 5,403 yards. Service I called WGCC, after seeing the Member for a Day promotion online, on a Friday and asked if I would be able to play Sunday afternoon. The pro, Luke, was very friendly and welcoming; invited me to come on down; and set up a 2:30PM tee time. When I got to the course, everybody who worked there was welcoming and friendly. When I was finished, those staff members were also friendly; asked me how I liked the course; and encouraged me to come back and play it again. Overall Condition I was pleasantly surprised by the condition and appearance of the course even though I had always heard the course was in great shape. Fairways, greens, and tees were in great shape and the course was visually very pleasing. Since I was playing by myself, and not being pushed by anybody, I found myself taking pictures on many of the holes. I have included a few of those pictures including a picture from the tee of the fifth hole which is about 400 feet above and overlooks the Ohio River. Clubhouse/Amenities This course has a restaurant, clubhouse, driving range, and practice green. I had no time to use the driving range or any of the other facilities. The golf carts were modern and clean, and I have attached a picture. Value I played the course on the 'member for a day' rate of $59 plus sales tax. I thought the course and service provided solid value for the price and was a very pleasant experience that I will repeat on a return trip to the Pittsburgh area.

Coming around the bend, you couldn't imagine that anything could exist in this lot, but there it is... The world headquarters of the Professional - Amateur Pinball Association. PAPA, for short. As soon as you walk through the doors, the atmosphere is ripe with excitement, frustration, joy, superstition, determination, and perseverance. The clanging of electro-mechanical pinball machines harmonizes with the music and sounds of their more modern counterparts. You're immediately greeted with a desk, and a handful of faithful volunteers, who devote their valuable time to make the World Pinball Championship a resounding success year after year. A quick tour of the facility reminds you of where you are. This isn't some second rate arcade, nor is it a first rate arcade... You aren't in someone's basement, nor are you in somebody's private arcade. This is the real deal, and the facility reminds you of that everywhere you go. As you make your way left, there are rows of pinball machines. A quick step down and you are on the delightfully tacky carpet, staring at the machines used for the B and A division of the championship. (Advanced and World Class divisions, respectively) As you stroll further to your left, there is an endless supply of pinball machines, ranging from the very rare "Cactus Canyon," to the all too common "The Addam's Family," to the so obscure I wish it didn't exist at all "Shaq Attaq." You've finally reached a wall, but it isn't the end- Not by a long shot. You've passed four back to back rows of machines, which is more than most have seen in their lifetime... But you haven't even made it a quarter of the way. Crossing a sparse brick partition is the "back room," which takes up more than a third of the facility. In this space are another 200 pinball machines, including the wall of time, showing pinball's progression from the inception of the flipper to the DMD days of today. After shuffling past the 10+ rows of pinball machines, you finally emerge at the other end. To your right is the qualifying bank for the C division, Juniors, Seniors, and Classics. Directly ahead is a wall lined with pinball, and the multimedia center, with computers for use and tables to use your own. And now you've come full circle, back to where magic is made year after year. The A division bank is where the small family of world class players congregate and reunite for a grueling week of pinball. While everyone may be competing against each other, there are no enemies in the pinball world. The place is perfect for anyone who has ever played pinball, and even more perfect for those who never have. Where else do you have such a beautiful selection of the best kept machines at your disposal? It is the ultimate training ground, and the ultimate proving ground, open only twice a year. The owner, Kevin, is a very compassionate person... keeping the pinball spirit alive with the World Pinball Championship, and also does a lot for charity, which the other event is exclusively held for in February. With the help of the amazing Dave, a God-send to the competitive pinball world, they make sure that this place will live on forever in the pristine condition it's always in, come hell or high water... Literally. Whether or not you live in in Pennsylvania, and whether or not you are a serious pinball player, you owe it to yourself to come to the biggest event in the pinball world- If not to compete or watch, to relive the glory days of pinball, and the days that everyone remembers. When we arrived, there was the option of valet parking or self-parking. We opted to self-park, a got a spot only a few minute walk from the door. The entrance is on the right as you pull in. If you were dropping anything off, there is a governor's drive that you can use to park essentially right next to the front door. The indoor portion is quite nice. There are several rooms likely used for various purposes. For this event, we got to see about 3 or 4 of the different spaces. The room where the cocktail hour was held has a lot of windows, and you can see out into the golf course. There is some seating here, and four the event they had some cocktail tables set up. The ballroom held the 150 person wedding just fine. There is a side room off of the ballroom that was used for the Cookie Table. It had some seating so guests could enjoy their desserts without having to take them all the way back across the ballroom. Also, the restrooms are very nice. In the women's, there is a seating area and plenty of stalls. It is not outdated, but think of a restroom from a by-gone era in terms of layout. They also had various hygiene products On the counter for guests to use. Also used during the cocktail hour and beyond was the back porch area. It also had a good amount of seating, and overlooks some of the holes on the golf course. We were able to get an up close view of the course and walk around a little bit while out there. This was especially cool because this wedding happened about two weeks before the U.S. Open, so they were preparing for that event outside. As stated, this wedding happened right before the U.S. Open. The County Club used some U.S. Open branded cups and napkins throughout the venue for the event. We even got to take some of the cups home as a "souvenir" since they were plastic. Also, wedding guests were able to visit the Pro Shop, and purchase some U.S. Open merchandise. This was a big hit with the crowd! The food served was not bad. We had the option of three plated meals. Most got the Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables. Nothing wrong with it, but could have used some more seasoning. The steak was cooked well. The other options were a Lemon Beurre Blanc Salmon or Eggplant Roulade Florentine. The eggplant dish was the favorite of all three, but it was all good. Everyone was also served a salad and bread. The logistics and setup of the event were great. The staff did a great job of executing the event and running it smoothly. The staff here were wonderful. They helped with anything we needed and were very friendly. One of the staff got us some extra U.S. Open cups to take home with us! Also, I made cookies for the Cookie Table and had to drop them off the night prior. The staff then was very helpful and made the drop off process a breeze. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to the Oakmont Country Club. If you are looking to host an event here, it is a great place to do so. I hope to return in the future! NOTE: Even for a delivery, those coming on premise have to wear either business attire or golf attire. No jeans are permitted.

Attended the 125th US Open on Saturday and all-in-all, it was a pretty cool experience. The amount…read moreof people that attend this event is just insane, but it was very well organized. Never had to wait for a shuttle. It was nice that the route to get to the course allowed the shuttles to use roads that were closed to the public so it took less than 25 mins to get there from the lot where we parked our car. The workers and volunteers were super friendly and welcoming despite working very long hours over the course of the week. And the food - SO GOOD. I wish I took a picture of the crab cake sandwich - it was HUGE. And ALL crab! We were in the Trophy Club for the majority of the day so we had an amazing view of the 3rd fairway with the iconic Church Pews bunker. Really cool spot to see the pros play (and struggle) on this course. The bathrooms were air-conditioned and well-stocked. Waste was managed timely and efficiently, and the entire place was immaculate despite all of the rain. The only area of improvement would be to set up more seating or counters to set down your drink/food because we spent a lot of time walking around looking for a spot to eat. They also had to close several of the crosswalks on Saturday, also due to the rain/mud, which meant bottle-necks of spectators funneling through to get across to the other side of the course. This meant up to 45-60 mins of standing and waiting to cross with nothing to see except the mass of people surrounding you, doing the same thing. They did offer a full refund for your tickets the morning of because access to certain viewing areas of the course would be limited throughout the day. Of course, we still decided to attend knowing full-well that this would complicate navigating the course. I was perfectly happy staying on the side closest to the entrance since that's where most of the amenities were located, but I can see how this would be frustrating for many fans. All-in-all, this experience was definitely worth the cost of admission. The staff and level of organization is what made this experience so memorable!

The service is very good and the bar maid, Whitney is fantastic. Drinks are relatively cheap compared to other bars but you must be a member to sit in the bar area. Any one can eat there in their separate dining area. Parking is ample and the place is clean and very accessible. The building itself is a little older but well maintained. The dining room extension is new. I go there often.
