It was a massive landscaping/hardscaping project…read moreinvolving new stone stairs, a large paved patio with a beautiful fire pit, 2 walkways, walls, sod, mulch, fill, leveling, etc. He provided an exhaustive and detailed proposal and worked with our available budget to produce a beautiful, artistic and professional exterior to our home. His team was very respectful, friendly and approachable. Esvin is also a great communicator and gave us updates on the project and provided solutions to the many challenges encountered, such as septic placement, underground utilities, etc. Whatever he could not achieve due to these reasons were compensated by other features, balancing the agreed upon total project price. He also had great communication with our next-door neighbor who we share the driveway with and went out of his way to tie up our new features with the neighbor's existing features seamlessly. We also had the exterior painters overlap with Esvin's project and they did a great job coordinating among themselves. We had been dealing with several contractors throughout these nearly 2 years of renovations and I am pleased to say Esvin's team was one of the most pleasant to work with. They typically started at 7:00 AM and finished around 7:00 PM from Monday to Saturday to complete the project on time. Thanks to their skill, commitment and hard work they completed our massive project in 2 months. I honestly thought it was going to take at least twice as much time. Now we have a new beautiful space we can actually enjoy before the Summer is over! Do yourself a favor and go with his team if you are investing on an outside project. It is worth the price and since they do things right, it will last long. When I first started the project, all I had was a high level vision. 5 Stars for Fresh Landscaping & Masonry!!…read more Patio/ Staircase Installation We worked with the owner, Jorge, over the summer to completely transform our backyard. Jorge came many, many times to work with me on my design choices for our patio. I scoped out many different ideas with him, and we discussed a multitude of different pavers/retaining wall blocks. Jorge was always a pleasure to work with. He was friendly, *patient*, and helpful throughout the entire process. We have a very tricky backyard, and the masonry project was split into two phases. First, we had a staircase built into the hill over an existing retaining wall. This involved digging out huge boulders and drilling into ledge. Next, Jorge installed and re-graded a new paver patio area that was 3x the size of the existing patio, including adding a french drain to correctly re-route water from our gutters far away from the house. Again, the expansion was an impressive feat due to ledge/rock in our backyard. Also, I had really wanted a certain paver to be used as a surround trim, and he had his team put in the extra effort to make it happen as the trim pavers were a different height than the patio pavers. THANKS JORGE! Finally, we capped off the existing retaining wall, adding a gorgeous stepping-stone walkway surrounded by river rocks, saved/replanted existing plantings, put in new plantings that I selected, put in new sod, installed new irrigation zones and heads, added a new Wi-Fi irrigation controller, added an outside water shut-off, and included beautiful lighting, Jorge was personally there on-site a large percentage of the time. He focused his various teams on getting the job done so they were there every day/all day until they were done with their portion (digging/drilling/masonry, landscaping, lighting, irrigation). His teams work very hard. They were all polite, friendly, helpful, and reliable. We are so satisfied with Jorge's masonry work that we switched all our landscaping services to Fresh Landscaping as well. Jorge is a true professional. It was a pleasure to work with him. He cares deeply about your satisfaction with his team's work, and he will work with you to get the job done right! I found Golden Hill Landscape through a Yelp search request. Aroldo responded to my inquiry very…read morequickly. We scheduled time for an in-person estimate. He came by, and I gave him an overview of what my condo was looking to achieve. Our front garden was a mess with weeds growing as tall as me. We also had weeds growing along our back yard fence line and a garden where my previous neighbors were planting flowers. The rear garden bed was filled with rocks too. Aroldo advised that his team can remove all of the weeds in the 3 locations, put down fertilizer and mulch and even a cloth to prevent weeds from coming back. He also indicated that he can use the rocks to create a barrier of the garden beds in the front and back. He provided some options, but we ultimately decided on the basic package. He even agreed to transfer flowers over from the back to the front, and promised to remove some branches on the side of the house that was blocking the pathway. His team came and did a fantastic job. My condo neighbors, my wife, and I are so happy with the job that Aroldo's team has done. We have nothing but great praises. We look forward to hiring him again in the future.

After several attempts to just hire Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction (during a bid process),…read moreI finally did. The rates seemed comparable, at first. However, there were many projects to be completed at my deceased mother's house. Because I am disabled and not able to get to the property, I couldn't see how badly I was taken advantage of. Not only did I pay for a job they did not do, I also paid for another job that is unfinished, plus a french drain that is causing a sink hole, and the buried equipment is now above ground. All 3 of these projects pose safety risks. The french drain collapse is only 6 months after installation. After bringing these issues to the owners attention (the unfinished project I'd requested be completed for months), the owner began ignoring me. When I mentioned that litigation was going to move forward, the owner said he'd look at the work that week then blew me off again. When they actually do work, Golden Hill's quality of work is atrocious and will need to be fixed. They broke the house vinyl siding when cutting down a tree branch and refused to fix it. I hired a contractor to fix that. They will overcharge (snowplowing is expensive), take advantage of you if you are a senior or disabled, and will try to get paid without working. They should not be in business and allowed to take advantage. I now have to pay someone else to fix their work, finish their work, and do a $375 job they never did. They've been paid over $10,000, with more work to be done at multiple properties. They agreed to do a quote at a second property, then never showed up. One would figure, with that kind if business, a company would want to perform quality work and respond to a dedicated customer. Aroldo at Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction will do a poor job or not at all, blow off appointments, ignore requests, and refuse to fix problems. He will, however, not hesitate to pick up a check. You should not ever hire them. If you do, be prepared to throw money away.
