Pain causes people to be irritable at times and I have certainly been irritable with Paige. However, she is always professional and treats me with respect. I haven't always been pleased with this office because in the past the staff were quite rude and treated the patients as addicts. They have made some recent changes and the staff are so nice now! I have been going to PSC for a couple of months and drive 1 hr 45 mins to get there. Last week I arrived for my appointment about 5 mins early as they have a sign up that if you are 19 mins late you must reschedule. I was told they would be right with me. Then I was told I would have to reschedule because the person who had the key to the supply closet was on vacation. I asked if they could call a locksmith as I had driven so far to get there. I was told no they couldn't. And that I needed to reschedule. Near tears because I had driven so far I said i was not going to reschedule. I left and 5 mins later they called to say they found the key and I could come back in 2 hours. I asked could I just come now because no patients were there but they said no. So I agreed to come back in 2 hours. in about 5 more minutes I got another call saying I would have to reschedule because the person who verified insurance had not done it yet and had taken the day off. After posting on their website I was contacted by someone who said they were sorry this happened... but I could reschedule. I explained I was on Social Security. I don't have money to drive back and forth over 100 miles each way. When I asked if they could reimburse me and then I could reschedule she said she didn't know. Dishonest, unethical pricing practices. I'd be scared to death to have a high dollar surgery done with them. Sold me a back support belt after their tech gave me an estimate of $150 for my cost after insurance. Found out later from my insurance company that Precision billed the insurance company $1878! My insurance wouldn't pay for it, and wrote it down to $666, still an outrageously high contract price. Precision then came after me for $518, as I hadn't met my deductible, after missing their estimate of my cost by over 350%. When confronted with their egregiously high pricing, the office manager was extremely rude and refused to be reasonable. They said they never provided me an estimate at all (not true, I made their tech go back out of the room and get an estimate before I agreed to buy it, which my wife witnessed) , and then hid behind an irrelevant policy, saying me it was their policy not to write off deductibles. The problem isn't the deductible, it's the uncommunicated, egregiously high price being billed, which resulted in a balance due that far exceeded the estimate that I was given--an estimate that I used to make my buying decision. Medical providers have a moral and ethical responsibility to advise their patients the total amount that they will be billing for a product. It allows the patient to assess their risk, and understand how much they will be responsible for if: 1) they haven't met their deductible; 2) the insurance company refuses to pay their price; or 3) as in my case, when the insurance company, after writing it down, still accepts an egregiously high price like $666 for a $30 weight belt. If they had told me the real price, I could have assessed my risk properly, and made an informed decision to buy the belt elsewhere. I offered to pay $50 more than the estimate, at $200, to settle it. They refused, and Dr. Gordon's office refused to take any responsibility for his tech's estimate as well. After dragging me along, promising for six months they were going to look into it, they sent it to the office manager, who told me I could send my demand letter to "wherever my little heart desires".
