If I could give 0 stars I would. John Barrow (Owner of Precision Pools and Spa) has single handedly created the most unpleasant, stressful, and chaotic business transaction I've ever experienced. Here's why: 1) 5 months late on pool (after $14,000 deposit). 2) Delivered different pool than originally ordered. 3) installed pool outside agreed coordinates of the yard. 4) Promised discounts for unbelievably flawed business practices that turned into price increases as the project progressed. 5) Failed to pay the tree company for their services resulting in a lien on our house. 6) Failed to pay electrician which resulted in another lien on our house. 7) Failed to pay electrical permit which resulted in a stop work order from the city. 8) Technologically incapable of accepting credit / debit card payments. 9) 2 major pool manufacturers (Barrier Reef and Viking) eliminated all business transactions with John because of his shoddy and unethical work. I have a feeling Leisure Pools) will follow suit. 10) Attempted to coerce us into "helping" him conjure up "evidence" on a prior lawsuit against him with even more discounts. This guy, John Barrow, and his business (Precision Pools and Spa) are pathetic, and that's putting it mildly. Do not recommend Precision Pools and Spa!! They installed our pool but left us with a mess. The concrete form broke and about 5 gallons of concrete went in the pool. The owner John, abandoned our job. We were left to clean up the pool and had to hire someone else to do the electrical and plumbing work. We also paid for a spa and concrete coating which we have not gotten and can not get John to call us back. He owes us $9,000.00. Do not recommend them!! read more

My husband and I hired a pool company (John H. Barrow with Percision Pool & Spa) to put in a pool. They were supposed to start July 5 and be done around July 21. We had to give a large deposit then.  We took out a loan to pay for the pool so we have been paying on the loan since June.  John kept telling us because of all the rain he was pushed back.  Long story short I received a call from the pool manufacturer company saying they no longer would do business with John and his company because of complaints and we should try to get our deposit back. I called, emailed, and texted John.  When he finally responded he asked if he could come talk to us.  We agreed.  He told us that because of push backs from the weather he had a customer go all over social media & call the pool manufacturer to complain.  He said as soon as he finished her job we would be next. Since he already had a big chunk of our money we agreed to wait. He then told us he was using a new pool manufacturer so the pool would be different then the one we agreed on. The two pool manufacturers that he normally uses had stopped doing business with him because of all the complaints.   But, he said if we stuck with him, he would give us a bigger pool with a $10,000 discount, so Oct. 15 we gave the pool guy another payment. He showed up on Oct.18 to start work. The tree guy was the 1st to show. They took down limbs that hung over the pool.  The next few weeks progress was being made daily.  We made another payment on Oct. 22. On Oct. 26 the tree guy showed up saying he has not been paid and he was going to put a lean on our house unless it was paid.  He said John had blocked his calls. When my husband called the pool guy he said the tree guy was over paid from his last job.  The tree guy & all the subcontractors hired should have been paid out of the money that we had given to John already. John said he would take care of it. The tree guy says he's going to the courthouse this week to put a lien on our house, because he doesn't want to deal with John anymore.  I also received a call from the city where I live stating that the pool guy had the electrician apply for the permit and it was never paid for so all work must be stopped until paid in full.  The electrician actually came by yesterday and said he was now going to put a lein on the house too! How many more contractors will come to us looking for payment?!? The pool price ended up way over the estimate. John H. Barrow with Percision Pool & Spa has so many contractors wanting to be paid that our attorney advised us to stop all work on the pool being done by John. This means we have to find someone else to complete the job which will cost more money. The yard is a total mess too. The attorney had to be paid for. The $$$$ keep on adding up!! BEWARE of John H. We signed a contract with John in May 2018 and paid $17496.25 deposit at which point he text a picture of the pool he said he placed on order with Barrier Reef. He never placed the order and in August 2018 promised a full refund and said our yard was unfit for a pool. We finally received a portion of our refund but it was a struggle. He will not respond and has disconnected is cell phone so we have no clue why he shorted us. We are in the process of filing a lawsuit on him. DO NOT USE JOHN BARROW WITH PRECISION POOL AND SPA located at 267 Nowhere Lane Athens, Georgia. We hired John to install an inground pool and spa in April. Per our contract, the pool was to be finished by May 1. Precision Pools and Spas started the project and then stopped showing up and returning phone calls and emails. The work that was done on the project was done so poorly that it required the pool's manufacture, Latham Pools, to come and make multiple repairs. The pool was set too high, the electrical was not up to code, the pipes were not done correctly, and the backfilling was not done up to standard resulting in cracks and a hole through the spa. John Barrow has not done any work on our pool since the last installment payment and refuses to refund the payment, even though it would follow his own contract. He has stopped returning calls and emails, and has even changed his number. Since we've started completing the project ourselves, we have been contacted by 6 other families and former employees with pending lawsuits and criminal charges. My review should be negative stars. Found John at Atlanta Home and Garden Show. Signed contract 2/2018, with work to start March and complete in April. Job did not start until June. He stopped showing up the week before Independence Day holiday. Rain came and the pool was not installed and lifted from the ground, required crane to re-lift and reset. Scope for John Barrow (aka Precision Pools & Spas - he is a one man show with day labor), was to GC a total backyard oasis (pool, hot tub, grade and level yard, retaining wall, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, fencing, etc. It is now November and we do not have anything complete, our yard is deplorable and John is unreachable. I have found several other customers who have experienced the same and have filed complaints and may have pending litigation and / or criminal cases. My wife and I met with Mr. Barrow on 6/26/18 and gave him $15,166.66 as a downpayment to start construction on our pool with an estimated completion date of our pool to be 8/15/18. The money was to be used to purchase the pool we agreed on. By October 18, 2018, he had not sent us any plans, he had not pulled any permits (by his own admission), and he had delivered nothing to the worksite (our property) to begin construction. He continues to deny and blame others for these issues stating it is not his fault. We have contacted the pool company/manufacturer(Lathem/Viking Pools) and they have verified that they have not processed a pool order for Mr. Barrow for our pool. Mr. Barrow attempted to sell us on a different pool from a different manufacturer because Lathem/Viking refused to do business with him due to the excessive issues they are having with him. Since the Manufacturer is unwilling to do business with him, our agreement with him cannot be filled and is now null and void. We have been attempting to get a full refund from Mr. Barrow as nothing has been done in over 4 months. He has continued to delay and avoid. He has made two appointments to meet us to give us our refund and he did not show for either meeting; one of which I had to take off work and drive to another town, only to sit there with no communication from him that he was not going to show. Mr. Barrow has taken $15,166.66 from us and has done nothing. I have advised him that this is a felony for this amount of money. This is Theft by Conversion and I will be pressing charges. read more
