If there's something that a person wants to improve or enhance, I'm all about it & the confidence it will give them. Of course, within reason. I've heard some pretty good things about Boulder Valley, so I decided to check them out. They run a clean and modern establishment that does surgery in house. The ladies that help Dr. Swail are pretty nice and friendly. I did wait a little longer then anticipated in the waiting room but I really didn't mind too much since I wasn't on any particular schedule that day. The roomy waiting area had a box of toys for kids to enjoy and tea or coffee available if you wish to grab a cup. Dr. Swail was kind and I felt comfortable with him. He was also reasonable with pricing which was great because I've researched many doctors back home in California that are qualified and priced right. Nonetheless, I am fairly local to this area and would love to patronize a great practice. I am still doing my due-diligence (as should all of you) but Boulder Valley is up there in the ranking of potential places to get some work done. Not sure exactly when & exactly what I will be getting, but I do know I have the option to come back here to discuss further when the time comes. After my appointment in January, I was initially told I would not receive a bill. A few months later, my credit card was charged $28, which was not an issue. However, when the charge appeared on my bank card, it showed up as "Boulder Valley Dental Office" rather than Boulder Valley Dermatology. Because the charge name did not match the provider I visited, I reasonably believed it could be fraudulent and reported it to my bank. I later spoke with Flora in the billing department, who explained that they are aware of this issue and have been trying to resolve it for over a year. I was also told this problem primarily affects customers using certain banks. Unfortunately, despite the confusion being caused by the billing descriptor, I was still charged a late fee. My original balance was approximately $28, but I recently received a bill for $63 due to added fees. While I appreciate Flora's assistance during our phone conversation, I was ultimately told by her supervisor that I was responsible for paying the full amount, which I did. I truly like the medical staff and the care I receive here, but this situation felt unprofessional and unfair. At a minimum, patients should be proactively warned that charges may appear under a completely different business name to help avoid unnecessary fraud disputes and late fees. The professional thing to do here would be to give me those late fees back.

I had…read morea botched surgery from another clinic that I went to in boulder and he did his absolute best to give me what I wanted no matter how many surgeries it would take. He didn't charge me the second time because he wanted to get me what I wanted no matter what. He cares for his patients is quick about it and talks you through everything. The nurses are lovely and always helpful, and I have never had a bad experience here. I am so glad I was recommended to this clinic by a friend who went to Dr Wolf for a gyno surgery. It looks amazing now and I'm recovering now, super happy and excited to see how it heals! The only thing I will say is that the front desk is very 50/50. I told them my nipple was possibly necrotic and they did everything in their power to not help me. Sometimes they're great and sometimes they're awful. This time I had to call over 10 times after being hung up on and told to remove stefi strips myself one day after surgery, just to get someone from the staff to contact Dr Steinwald, which once he heard he immediately called me in. I find the cherry creek front desk staff are usually way worse than the golden front desk.

I echo what others have said about the providers booking out pretty far but for any emergencies (re skin cancer), they've been able to fit me in. I've been seeing Dr. Bryn Marsh for 5+ years now and cannot say enough good things about my experience with her. She listens and is attentive, offers various solutions and is open to trying new things as I navigate very acne and skin cancer prone skin. I see her for everything from biopsies to skin checks to Botox. Lots of turnover with the PAs but never had a bad experience. I also saw Dr. Pusey while on Accutane due to scheduling conflicts with Dr. Marsh and she was equally as attentive, calm and knowledgeable. Robin (who helps schedules Mohs surgery) is one of the kindest people ever. She is so sweet, level-headed and explains things extremely well. Ann in billing is amazing and really works with you and your insurance. The front desk had a lot of turnover recently and due to the learning curve, was charging me (and my partner who sees Dr. Fender) for wrong things or wrong amounts, and Ann remedied it for both of us quickly and effectively after we called. The only negative experience I had was with Dr. Walter for a chemical peel. Without getting into too much detail, I felt dismissed, talked down to and as though normal post-op questions from a first time peel patient were a waste of his time. I will not book with him again, but am extremely happy with the other providers at Hill Center so hasn't deterred me from going back.

I was left malformed and needing a corrective surgery to fix what had been done to me. I sought, and received care from another local plastic surgeon. I have had one surgery to fix the botched surgery from Roesner and will be needing another to be performed in 2027 to get anywhere near back to semi-normal. Being nice is not the end all.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, Nathan Roesner intervened during the most daunting period of my life; he helped me. To add to the hellish diagnosis, I was hit with the death of my younger sister, Maya, who passed away the very day before I visited the Aura office. Dr. Roesner was incredibly empathetic when he and I first met. He shared that he had lost a dear friend of his earlier that year. His words were precisely what I needed to hear that day. He then explained the complex phased breast reconstruction process using visual aids and sketches. The plan reassured me that I was in excellent hands. On December 20th, 2023, I had a double mastectomy, and then Roesner performed Phase 1 of my reconstruction. The following day, I awakened and immediately leaped out of bed to look in the hospital mirror. I unzipped the white sports bra the surgical staff had placed me in and took a good look at myself. The Tissue Expansion Devices (TEDs) were slightly filled. I am so grateful that I didn't have to go through the additional trauma of waking up flat-chested. My post-surgical pathology report revealed that more cancer was lurking, so Dr. Roesner had me scheduled to undergo the removal of more tissue, D[r. Roesner's surgical coordinator deserves a quick shout-out. She got me in the OR before any metastasis occurred. THANK YOU.] The more radical clearance of breast tissue led to an epically received report of NED (No Evidence of Disease)...not even any RESIDUAL disease remained in my system - (or at least none that can be detected by the state-of-the-art surveillance systems we have to date). Roesner removed some of the air from the TEDs to protect the fresh incisions from the stress of being stretched. I looked deflated, which was not very cute, but only briefly, for the air fills began shortly, eventually replaced with saline. During that second surgery, Roesner also removed a chemotherapy port from my chest that I wouldn't be needing. Having the port so seamlessly removed was a tremendous relief for me. Over the next few months, I would visit the AURA office for TED fills and facial treatments, including BBLs - Broad Band Light laser treatments. Master medical esthetician Kerri McMain performed my BBLS and other facial work. Kerri is probably one of the most careful, competent medical estheticians to have ever worked on my face, neck, and decolléte. As a licensed esthetician, I am highly selective with who wields a laser over my skin; I knew I was safe with Roesner's practice. I even brought my 11-year-old daughter in as we were struggling to clear up her acne. Not only did Kerri work on her face with great care, but she also gave us fresh ideas regarding care and prevention. With just a single microdermabrasion session at AURA, there was marked improvement in my daughter's skin. Kerri is also a delight to converse with; she seems genuinely concerned about the health and beauty of the patient's skin and overall wellness. I felt valued as a patient at AURA. The desk attendants always seem upbeat and accommodating. Dr Roesner's Nurse, Tanya, was the one who typically performed my TED fills (gradually expanding the breasts via painless needle puncture). Even with the injections, undergoing those fills proved to be some of the most incredible medical fun ever. Growing breasts was an absolute blast for me! Nurse Tanya was always a pleasure to see, as was every other individual who works at Aura, conveniently located near Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. My reconstruction has become more aesthetically pleasing than 97% of the reconstructions I have viewed. [Mind you, I am a brutal critic.] Since the 3rd surgery (swapping out the TEDs for silicone implants) on April 22nd, 2024, I have noticed that my breasts are outstanding in symmetry. They are also my preferred size -my original size- and have minimal scarring. Dr Roesner must have used some technique that looks anything like butchery. Best of all, the new breasts feel like they BELONG inside my body; they cause me zero pain; granted, I am half numb, but with consistent scar massage, the sensation is starting to return. What's a nice bonus is that I can wear almost all of my favorite pre-mastectomy bras. I had some pretty great native breasts before all of this, so the bar was set very high for Dr. Roesner. By the grace of God working through him, he managed to hit the high bar. He hit it aesthetically as well as perfectly excising an invasive cancer that would have left my daughter without a mother. Instead, I was SAVED, and I have literally been resurrected. So, I insist that you give AURA a go.

I called to schedule a new patient exam and was asked what I'm interested in. After answering that question (with my concern about potential skin cancer) was I told that the doctors are not accepting new patients. I told the receptionist that it was strange to be asked what I'm interested in first, if the doctor is not accepting new patients. I asked if the answer would be different if I was interested in cosmetic services and she told me "yes". There would be a significant wait, but I could schedule for a cosmetic consult, and I could not have medical concerns addressed at such a visit. This told me everything I need to know about this practice. Skin cancer, which is potentially lethal, is not something they have time for - cosmetics pay much more.
