I was disappointed with our flooring installation. We had tile removed from the living room and hardwoods installed, and we also had our existing hardwoods refinished. We've had hardwood floors installed in our previous home, and we had a great experience. We knew what to expect. However, this time was more challenging because we have two kids, and we were already moved into our home. The subcontractor who installed our floors was sloppy. The floors were not sanded properly, and even though we asked for a satin finish, our floors feel like sandpaper. They left large gaps between the casings/room transitions and filled the gaps with wood putty which has already chipped. We asked for primed quarter round, and stained quarter round was installed. Nails are sticking out in several places of the quarter round. Not good with littles ones crawling around. We were told we could have our stair case railing and treads refinished, too, but this was done terribly wrong. It also felt like sandpaper, and they caused damage to the molding that required tons of wood filling and paint. I have learned one project only creates another. That's just how it goes. To top it all off, the workers kept leaving cigarette butts out in the front steps and deck area. My father in law politely asked them to clean this up one afternoon when he came to check on the house. They did not, and they left their trash filled and a a cup of water filled with cigarette butts which smiled horrible. It was a total slap in the face. The only reason I give any stars is for the owner, Brian Viles. He was polite and accommodating on the phone. He even came out to fix the staircase until I was satisfied, but I was so over the experience (and having the house in disarray) that I could not fathom having all of the floors fixed, too. read more
