Over a period of three months post-delete, I went down a rabbit hole chasing a P0299 (underboost) code on a 2016 EcoDiesel. With no dedicated diesel shops nearby, Googling around led me to Precision Diesel, and I cold-called them, hoping I had missed something obvious during the delete. Matt was very helpful over the next four or five calls. He was patient and informative every time, knowing I was doing the work myself to save money. Not once did he suggest I stop asking "silly" questions or just bring the truck in. He understood it was a 2.5-hour drive for me and helped as best he could over the phone. I eventually took the truck to a local shop with some EcoDiesel experience. They mainly specialize in custom gas builds and a few Chevy deletes, so I don't blame them for the conclusion they reached--that it was likely a cab-off turbo replacement. So, faced with a $4,000-$6,000 turbo job and having already put about 30 hours of my own time into chasing gremlins, I figured the 2.5-hour drive (and a night in my friend's camper) was worth it to let the pros sort it out. I was very happy to see at least ten EcoDiesels in various states of repair--from flat-tired, rusted hulks to shiny, newer models--filling up the yard. It took them just two hours to figure it out... Wait for it... It was a dirty MAF. I had pulled and cleaned the MAF sensor myself--or so I thought. But I guess my instincts were right. After so much time running in circles over the P0299, I was deep in the weeds and just needed a professional. And boy, did I get one. We (four teens and one adult) were on day one of a sixteen-day trip when the truck started to struggle. I pulled over and called Precision Diesel, who said they would look at the truck and diagnose the problem. The staff were amazing and made a challenging start to our vacation fantastic! They were kind, helpful, understanding, wonderful, and went above (I mean above) and beyond. I have already been recommending them to friends and will continue to do so! If you want to be treated like family or old best friends, then you need to come here!
