As a student of Mike's for several years, I honestly cannot express how helpful his tutoring lessons were both immediate and longterm. I first worked with Mike as a Freshman in High School. These first lessons were focussed on the basics of skilled and developed writing. We began with simple exercise, basically writing sentence to sentence, slowing moving into writing larger writing assignments. These basic lessons, which Mike had came up with on his own and tailored to my skills, had improved my writing dramatically. In between the individual lessons, we also worked on the assignments in my Honors English class at my High School. Mike made it a point to read entire prompts, a rather bad habit that I had previously of skipping over seemingly unimportant parts. Not only did Mike work with me with to write essays, but he also helped me with understanding how to be successful in an English class, which I later used in my AP English courses. After working with Mike my Freshman year, we picked up again during my Senior year to work on my college applications. To make it a point early, I WOULD HAVE NOT FINISHED MY APPS WITHOUT MIKE!!!! Because Mike moved, we worked over Skype and Google Docs. Although would seem to be difficult, Mike and I successfully completed all my apps together. With the several essays in front of us, we tackled each down one by one, working several hours at a time. We spent many hours on choosing different prompts, attempting alternate responses, until we had a close to perfect essay in front of us. I would write on my own then check my work with Mike, going over sentence by sentence. Each essay, we went through a similar process. I cannot put to works how much Mike helped me with my application essays, but it did not stop there. Together we went through my entire applications, from top to bottom, paying more attentions to activities lists and writing me resume. Mike helped me with my essays and also, more importantly, coached me through the entire application process. For the schools I was applying to, Mike helped put me ahead of the other applicants in my application. Like I said before, I would not have turned in applications anywhere close to what I had completed with Mike. He helped me get into schools like UC Davis, UC Irvine, LMU and several others, along with some scholarships. Mike was not just a tutor, he was a mentor. Through both in person and over the computer lessons, Mike helped me become a better writer and made the stressful application process so much easier. Great and talented tutor! If you need your goal to be reached in a short time, then you should definitely consider Michael. My brother is attending a boarding school in US, however, being as an international student he has no waiver for TOEFL and SAT. Michael did a great job!
