I would not recommend this tax preparer based on my experience. There was a clear lack of communication throughout the entire process. I made it known that I was not familiar with taxes and needed guidance, but my return was delayed until very late with little to no updates. The numbers I was originally told did not match the final results "over 1000$ off" After having another professional review everything, my return was significantly different than what I was told to expect. That raised serious concerns about accuracy. There were also missed opportunities and lack of guidance regarding tax benefits and credits that could have applied to my situation, including items related to overtime and recent tax law changes. None of this was properly explained to me. Another major issue was being told that an extension may have been filed. I never provided authorization or a signature for that, and since I potentially owe taxes, that creates a serious problem. This should never happen without clear consent. Overall, the experience felt rushed at the end, inconsistent, and poorly communicated. I had to seek another professional to verify everything, which I should not have had to do. I recommend others proceed with caution and make sure everything is clearly explained and documented before moving forward. read more

I would rate zero stars if I could. I am so frustrated and saddened that my experience with Cynthia was so negative. This was not only a disappointment, but so much time and money wasted. After my accountant suddenly died, I contacted Cynthia to file a corporate and personal return, which she did. When engaging her services, I asked about quarterly estimated taxes, and she told me over the phone that those were wrapped into the corporate return fee. When I first asked her to calculate my quarterly estimated taxes, she did, and there was no issue, but the following quarter, she seemed confused about the due date for those taxes, was incredibly rude (in my opinion) to my bookkeeper, and kept me waiting for a number until the day estimated taxes were due. She then invoiced me a fee for these calculations, to my great surprise (she had not charged me previously, and an additional fee was never discussed or agreed upon!). We terminated our relationship as I no longer trusted her, and I immediately found a new CPA. That CPA has access to the SAME documents Cynthia did, and it turns out that both the corporate return and individual return have numerous errors, numerous misreports (investments that just weren't reported at all, retirement contributions with an incorrect amount, etc.,) and we will now have to be amend those returns. Working with Precisely Right was a terrible experience for me, and I could just never recommend them to someone else. read more

I do not write a negative online review lightly because it is simply too easy to say negative things about anyone's company. However, in this case I think it is warranted. I do not recommend Precisely Right Accounting for personal income tax preparation. Occasional mistakes are excusable, but we suffered multiple tax filing errors resulting in VERY expensive penalties and, in one case, a complete failure to e-file tax returns in 2021. While trying to rectify that issue the principal of Precisely Right Accounting was not at all cooperative. In addition, we contracted for business bookkeeping and payroll services. It was inconsistent and resulted in late payment penalties from the IRS. Even now (March 2025) I am getting penalties from the IRS for errors in 2023 caused by this firm. I strongly encourage you to seek bookkeeping and tax filing services elsewhere. read more

Big fat zero! It is standard business practice to drop off a letter and have a copy date stamped received. They refused to do this. They made a big deal about it. I started as a Real Estate Broker two years ago in Lacey WA and decided to have Cynthia do my taxes (2016). I was nervous and had never needed to really write off a lot and knew I would owe the IRS a good amount. I am SO saddened by my experience. After she did my taxes for me, I received a letter from the IRS for all sorts of charges for her DOING THEM WRONG. "Failure to file on time" "Failure to pay correct amount" which adds up to be about $200 worth of charges. The list just kept going on...and I'm thinking "WHAT THE HECK! THIS IS WHY I PAID SOMEONE SO MUCH MONEY!" But hold on.... it gets worse. I went into her office, emailed and phoned her and her office multiple times and got no response for weeks and whenever I went in she was never "available". By this point I have gotten another letter from the IRS charging me a late fee for the previous errors while I'm sitting here thinking my tax account SHOULD be taking care of the problem! WRONG. Finally I sit in the Precisely Right Accounting office until Cynthia decides she is "available". I explain to her my frustrations, and she says she will take care of the problem, which she eventually did. This meeting was about 45 seconds long. THEN a week later I receive an $80 bill in the mail from Precisely Right Accounting for an hour worth of "tax advise" when really all I was trying to do was get her to fix HER OWN MISTAKE. so I've been with precisely right for about a year and in that whole entire year they have not had my quickbooks which they say they are pros at correct at all cuz they don't know how to run QuickBooks obviously. So I canceled them as my bookkeeper and told him I'd still do my taxes with them and Cynthia cancel everything so now right around tax season I get to go find a tax person which is going to be nearly impossible since I'm sure any decent tax accountant is going to be filled up so thank you so much for the inconvenience here's your one star for shity service. When your gut tells you something is wrong go with it I've had a gut feeling ever since I started doing business with them that they were screwing me over sending me $1,000 bills every 3 months and I just can't understand that especially when everything's automatic put into my quickbooks account from my bank account to my square so I just can't see spending that especially when my QuickBooks has never been correct. read more

Their reply for their bad review was that "Mrs. Aguon wasn't ever a client" well seeing as how it's a family business that MY husband is running, and as his wife it is partly my business and I also deal with his emails and misc paperwork he needs help with, I 100% know what I'm talking about. I also worked in an accounting dept before becoming a stay at home mom so I can also see how unprofessional and uneducated the staff at this business is. The owner is just mad that my husband reported them to the BBB after they didn't file taxes correctly causing him to be receive a large penalty. Honestly I don't even want to give this business a one start rating. The final straw that broke the proverbial camel's back is this; I had sent an email requesting that electronic copies of existing tax forms be sent to me. I only wanted copies of the forms. My email was very clear. What I got instead was this; She went ahead and filled out all new tax forms and then went ahead and filed on my behalf. Then I was sent an invoice due payable on the same day it was sent. I contacted her office immediately to explain what I had wanted and quoted my email communication. I was told that because I did not specifically state in the email items that I did not want done, I was told that I am obligated to pay the invoice in full. I was also told that I am obligated to pay for all services wether or not I wanted them. I was told that this is stated in my contract. The problem is; that I have signed no contract, nor have I ever been presented with one, nor do they even offer to send a supposed contract for me to review. They simply make this up and tell you that you are obligated to pay for services that you did not desire of ask them to perform. I had planned on taking care of my taxes by other more reasonable means in order to save a little, or in this case a lot. There is some back story as well; I had been working with Cynthia Collins and Precisely Right Accounting for some time, too much time really. There had consistently been items billed for that no body just should not have to pay for, such as brief amounts of time on the phone getting my questions answered about things like items I was being billed for, billing practices/policies, and brief email exchanges with the same sort of questions. In one years time, she has gone thru so many assistants that is was impossible to keep up. My own billing and accounts manager finally told me one day that she simply could not handle communicating with this business any more. She told me that talking with this person was very unpleasant and she went on to describe this person using expletives describing a fairly negative personality type. So with this last screwed up service with Precisely Right Accounting, I had had enough of being taken advantage of as a small business person. After contacting her office with my concern and with no resolve other than I was "Obligated" to pay for services I did not request, I have filed formal complaints with the BBB and The Washington State Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Protection Division. Interesting thing happened during my call to the AG. They have no such record of Cynthia Collins, or Precisely Right Accounting being registered as a CPA. Cynthia herself had on several occasions verbally told me that she was a CPA, but she just doesn't advertise it. I strongly feel that there are many red flags with this business relating to unfair business practices and un ethical behaviors within this business. If you choose to do business with them, please, be very wary. Screwed time and again, but no more! read more

The service that was offered to me was utter crap all the way around. the bills for such, where extraordinarily high. then the started biling me for services I did not request. Once I filed my complaint with the Better Business Bureau, I then went straight to the State of Washington, to further my action. Funny thing is the entire time I gave her my business, she had been telling me she was a CPA. Turned out that at the time I filled my compliant with the state, they did not even have her on record as being registered as CPA. I was lied to, I was taken gross advantage of, my tax, and tax reporting matters where grossly miss handled, and I was grossly over billed. I would give this business a negative 5 star rating, but Yelp does not allow for that, and in order to post you must give at least one star, this is the only reason she gets one star from me. If you care at all about getting even mediocre service for your dollars avoid this office like the plague. read more

I went to Cynthia for the first time last year to do my taxes. It is important for me to have my taxes done right since I filed bankruptcy in 2014 for all the back taxes I had. I had original found another CPA in Olympia, but he ended up charging me so much money for someone with NO deductions. I found Cynthia to be very helpful and assist me with future taxes to stay on track. Her office personnel was very pleasant too. read more

She had stated they had been done for awhile, but she failed to contact us. We had missed her call for a 'reschedule' not even an hour before our appointment, my partner had shown up early and just in time to catch her sneaking out the door. The service was fine in the beginning, then a great employee who knew her job and did the payroll accurately and in a timely manner left. The past 3 years there has been very high turn over with staff. Which has resulted in many, many errors. The errors would be addressed by email and fixed after a back and forth in communication. It took over 1 year and many walk ins, emails and phone calls to get the office to correct our address. The last big concern occurred this past Jan, after an email was already sent to the office to inform them that there would be no payroll due to no employees working in Jan. This is the same every Jan for the past 15 years. The office staff sent over an invoice for processing payroll. We set up a meeting to sit down and address these concerns and was meet with from the owner "I think you need to find someone else" and "staff has been the same no turn over" and "IRS will not audit". The owner showed no concern for the errors and problems processing payroll. The owner did not take any responsibility what so ever. I expressed the concern that it looks like you process payroll for Jan after it was stated no payroll and if the IRS wants to audit it could look bad. Plus every email we have has different employee names listed at the bottom of the communication. After a mix up with other services, we had to find a CPA. I do not recommend this office at all. I expect more professional work with processing payroll and paying for this type of service then what this office has delivered. read more

Absolutely terrible response to previous service request for information. While engaging this establishment for information required from the prior year work they had completed, it was determined that not all the appropriate paperwork was done in that tax year. Not responding for a document that was never completed is unsatisfactory. 2x emails, and not less htan 4 phone calls in an attempt to get the information. Finally a personal stop by their office and I was told the reason for no response. Bad news does not get better with time and they seem to waste a bunch of your time and money. read more

Very Disappointing. I have been sending my taxes through Cynthia for years, but it seems she has gotten too busy to talk to people on the phone herself or in person. A few months ago I asked Cynthia If she could get some paperwork in regards to my taxes for my Financial Aid for college, she said she could do it. I then asked if this action was covered under the tax prep fee that I had already paid that year, she said yes. I got the paperwork (Later than estimated) and 2 weeks later a bill showed up in my E-mail. I called and said that there must have been a clerical error because Cynthia said the paperwork retrieval was covered by my tax prep fee, one of her employees said they would look into it, or have Cynthia look into it. No response for 2 weeks, so I emailed..... No response, I emailed again and no response. Then I called a few times over the period of a month and either got the voicemail or got an employee who promised to have Cynthia call back. Now in the present I have an important tax matter to attend to from a year that she handled my taxes, and she is nowhere to be heard from. I am apparently now being asked to go to another Accountant by the employees, through Cynthia. I honestly never thought an adult could be so childish..... Communication is key when in a business arrangement, and I was communicating as much as I could with no response. To this day, No response to the paperwork retrieval bill and no communication in regards to my needs currently for tax issues. I have already convinced 4 people that are in the market for accountants to not go to Cynthia. It's an unfortunate thing to have to do. but I don't want anyone else getting burned like I did. If Precisely Right Accounting would like to rectify the situation, literally all that is needed is a phone call and an explanation. read more
