I visited the library after attending a block party rally event calling for more transparency in…read moretulsa courts by requiring camera placement in each courtroom and judge chambers. i decided to go in the library after the event in large part because of a previous court case i'd observed, in which a judge asked a party representing herself to provide copies of her piece of evidence, but because the court copy machine was not working, she had to go across the street to print copies from the library. and due to the potential postponement of a court date i surmise such a delay could engender, i'd decided to print a copy of the flyer i received promoting the event from the library printer, as i'd not used any copying machine at that library location since its remodeling. the print and copy station, located on the first floor, at about the middle of the room to the right, facing away from the main court adjacent entrance, was user friendly based on the experience i had. the copy machine charged 25 cents to print the flyer with color, and it would have been 10 cent if i were printing in black and white. further, the copy machine, located in the picture to the far left, includes instructions for how to use it, with the only confusion i'd experienced being which direction to face the document in the insert slot, so you might want to pay a lil closer attention to that aspect than others when printing a copy. lastly, having not visited the library for any significant amount of time since the installment of study rooms to the second floor, i got a close look into some of the several reservable glass enclosement quiet rooms overlooking downtown, a distinct feature among all library locations i've visited, in tulsa or otherwise.

I love to read so one of the very first things a did after moving to Tulsa was get a library card. This place is a library lovers dream. It is huge. Nice big parking lot with handicap-accessible parking. Drive up Dropbox is available so you can drop off your books if you don't have time to go inside. This library is clean, even the bathroom sparkled. Helpful staff scattered about and they are always more than happy to help you find anything or answer questions. There are many computers and I saw several large study rooms where people were studying. They have a huge children's section that's closed off. I'm not sure if there are books in there but there's plenty of room for the kids to play. I'll be honest sometimes I just wanna get away from the TV, people and life's stressors and one my favorite things to do is to take my Kindle or the book I'm reading ( I like both ebooks and regular books) and go to the library, curl up in one of their comfy chairs and read for several hours especially in the summer when it's hot outside. If you like to read and haven't checked this library out, I highly recommend you do so.

The staff helped me sign up for my first Tulsa County Library card and went through how to order things online. Did you know you can check out 50 items? I didn't. That's a lot. Managed to check out two books and two dvds. I'm a bit of a book nut, but because Marie Kondo says I can only keep 30, being able to borrow books from a library will help me reduce clutter and finally find joy.

They also have computers, printers, and a fax machine available for anyone with a current library card. They offer two story times every week. One on Tuesdays for all ages, and one on Fridays specifically designed for babies and toddlers! Anyone with babies/toddlers should definitely check this out! The storytime last 30 minutes and the staff have a fun time singing nursery rhymes, while the children and parents are able to sing along and perform the movements together for each rhyme! The children's area has child size chairs and tables where they can sit and read books, or have books read to them. The staff are all friendly and very helpful!

i went to the library yesterday to ask if i'd be able to post a flyer at the location for an…read moreupcoming event celebrating april birthdays of children with autism, in conjunction with easter. the young woman who assisted me kindly asked me to show her a confirmation email from the county library online support giving approval for posting the flyer at library locations, which i'd received a couple days prior within about two days of requesting permission. she then promptly posted the flyer on the bulletin board in the first corridor of the library, before the main book section. then, while waiting for a ride from the library, i was blessed to get the opportunity to observe a magnificently curated display in the library corridor regarding the history of black wall street, as well as significant people to the literary tradition cultivated at the particular library location, which is the home of the african american resource center for the tulsa library system. among the individuals recognized for efforts to the library include hannibal johnson, john hope franklin, and nikki giovanni, each of whom is pictured on a wall display along with a quote from each concerning a connection to the library. lastly, i'd like to offer an observation about the black wall street display that especially resonated, which is that the description accompanying the image of the williams family at the center of the particular display emphasizes that the couple chose to build a life in the greenwood district more for the economic opportunity available than the connection to african american culture. yet, the image and description is juxtaposed with a display case of egyptian artifacts, which though i'm not certain is a permanent display, suggests to me that although some individuals significant to african american have not placed an emphasis on cultivating a distinct culture, culture still perseveres in history.

The library is well situated in downtown Bixby with generous parking and two entrance doors. The interior is clean and well organized. The library staff incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and the selection of materials robust.
