What impressed us the most is that the training really lasted. Ghost has now gone through his teenage phase, which we were honestly expecting to be a little chaotic , but he's still such a good dog. He understands boundaries, listens well, and is very easy to live with. They require all records prior to your first stay to make sure the dogs are up to date on vaccinations, etc. There are also a number of enrichments offered at an extra cost to entertain your pup, and on certain days of the week they have specialty enrichments. On my pup's last stay we ordered a pup cup and I did not expect to receive pictures in email of her enjoying it. That made my day. There are always cameras available to check in on your doggy to make you feel at ease. My pup is always excited and always playing during her stays and she is excited to go in when we arrive, she isn't even worried about me heading off and she's still happy when we come back for her. Then there is the additional perk of your pup being wiped out for a nice portion of the day when you return. Shortly after one of his baths, Capi developed a skin injury that required veterinary care. My veterinarian told me the condition could have been related to the grooming service, although he could not say with absolute certainty that it was the cause. I reported the incident to PetSmart expecting a serious investigation and reasonable accountability. Instead, I was eventually told that their veterinarian determined that PetSmart would not take responsibility for any of the veterinary expenses. That response completely destroyed my trust in their grooming services. I had purchased a grooming package and had only used four baths. Because I no longer felt comfortable bringing my dog back, I canceled the remaining services. PetSmart agreed to refund $398 for the unused portion, which is fair financially, but that does not change how poorly I believe the actual incident was handled. What concerns me most is the lack of accountability when something goes wrong. As a pet owner, I expect a company offering professional grooming services to take concerns involving an animal's health seriously and to provide a transparent explanation when denying responsibility. I am sharing my experience so other pet owners can make an informed decision before using PetSmart grooming services.
