First off, I would like to point out some of the good things about Netty's Nest. This place is…read moreconveniently located and is a short walk from downtown. It is also easily accessible and is not hard to find. The staff is nice and friendly. In my experience, I had no major problems and everything went as planned. The place is also clean. However, there are many things to improve. I can't say that there is an abundance of alternatives in Saskatoon, but I will tell it like it is in hope that the business improves. Wi-fi. There is a 500 MB / 5 devices cap during 48 hours. This in and of itself is a problem, even if you don't use internet it all. It does not feel good to be subject to unduly restrictions. If there is a genuine problem with internet bandwidth that for some reason can't be resolved at the moment, it is much more service friendly to restrict the speed of the internet and not the data plan. I did not plan to download anything major, but after a few Skype calls and browsing I still ran out of data in about 10 hours. Parking. There is a hidden $5 charge for parking that will be announced the moment you pay for the room. I did not feel that this was an in-demand area in terms of parking and it seemed to me that the street right nearby had free street parking. They only have parking stalls out in the back and the stalls are small. My car is 4.94 m long and her back was protruding out of the parking spot. It was amusing to see them giving out a "parking pass" you have to put on the dashboard considering that they only have about 5 stalls. Take your shoes off. They have carpets everywhere and signs telling you to take your shoes off. Not only this is inconvenient for the customer, but it also makes area hard to clean for the staff. Shared bathrooms/kitchen. I saw the website before and I was not aware that they are shared. Nothing impressive there. No 24 HR/service. Self-explanatory. Not beautiful. The rooms are not nice. They bought all the necessary stuff to mark off their checklists, but the way it is put together just lacks style and the sense of completeness. TV. They have a decent-sized TV with lots of channels. I felt this was excessive considering that they don't offer basic things like unlimited internet. Value for money. I felt that the value for money is very low.

WARNING! Cash Upfront Demanded, Refund Refused, No Business Licence!!…read more I contacted Mari on September 4th, 2014 and was asked to pay up front via online banking for four nights. We had a phone conversation and verbally agreed upon a arrival time on September 8th. No paper trail. I arrived at the agreed upon time and no one was home. No cell number provided for contact. I waited 20mins then booked accommodations elsewhere. When I spoke to Mari that night she first claimed I had the time wrong, then admitted her mistake and agreed to refund. She did not refund my money the next day. The following day I talked to her face to face and she claimed to not have enough money to refund me and I would have to wait until that night. She said she could not refund me via online banking due to PST issues and I would have to come back and take cash. I called that night and she still did not have the money but said she would very soon as someone was checking in within minutes and would pay her. Not sure why they didn't have to pay up front. As I was leaving town I went to the house again and asked to be paid by noon the next day or I was contacting the Better Business Bureau. She proceeded to get angry, claimed it was rude to come to a private home and make demands and that if I pushed her I would never see my money and she would ruin my reputation on the internet. I left. Every time we talked she changed her story regarding my arrival time, why she couldn't refund my money and why she wasn't home at the appointment time. Today I contacted the City of Saskatoon and found out she is running the business without a proper licence. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I loved . . . -- The tiled floors (vs carpet), even though it might be a bit noisier for downstairs neighbors -- The glass enclosure of the walk-in shower -- The "doorbell" that is actually a doorbell, but also the do-no-disturb and housekeeping-please indicator -- The second sink outside the bathroom -- Lovely bedding and towels -- Loads of overhead lighting and nice bedside lights, too -- Cookies in the lobby -- TWO washers and dryers - clean and high-quality! -- Helpful staff, front counter to the dining area and housekeeping -- Ice machines on each floor -- The slide tube in the pool (although we just watched, didn't use) Not as crazy about . . . -- Upstairs neighbors' footfalls (couldn't they have built this NEW hotel with concrete floors??) -- The motion sensor light in the bathroom; I get the purpose, but who wants bright light in the middle of the night? -- The motion sensor on the thermostat; again, I get the purpose, but it got really hot during the night. Either provide standard bedding that isn't a fluffy duvet, say a cotton blanket, or let the AC stay on all night! -- Why is the microwave on the bottom shelf of the dresser / TV stand? Why not up a shelf so you don't have to get on hands and knees to use it? Go back to the I-loved list. Those are the great things about this place.
