This is a review of the campground inside the Historic Prairie Village outside Madison. We stayed one night in a grassy, fairly level 50 amp electric only site that functioned as a pull-thru because no one else was there and we were just told to pull through the site behind us to get to ours. Otherwise when it's full, these sites are back to back. They're also next to the state road and pretty far from the restrooms and bathhouse. The tent sites and 30 amp sites are closer to the bathhouse and further away from the highway. They have very limited 50 amp sites so make sure you reserve it if you need it.
The lady at check in was friendly and helpful. Your camping fee gives you access to all the historic buildings there and you're free to wander around the grounds. Some of the 30 amp campsites have water but they look like they're filled with long term residents or seasonal workers. Dump station is on site, free. There's free WiFi but it was weak at our site. No cable, no playground, no pool, no off leash dog park. For the price, this was a good overnight for us and we would likely return. read more
