I was in need of a companion and advocate to help me negotiate my first days at the Mayo Clinic. I asked the Clinic for a recommendation and (lucky for me) they gave me Karen Hoffman's name. Karen is with the "Always Caring" organization" in Rochester. I first met Karen at my hotel because she wanted to interview me and in order to match me with the right person. Karen suggested Kelsey be my companion and advocate and Kelsey was perfect. I could not have made it through all my appointments were in not for Kelsey. Kelsey is wonderful and was the perfect companion advocate! On my next visit to the Mayo Clinic, my first call will be to the "Always Caring" organization. They are honest, compassionate, and reasonable. "Always Caring" made my Mayo Clinic visit a pleasure.

I agree that Charter house is not a good choice - The management are horrific to deal with -…read more When you first move in they cannot do enough to please you - Once you go downhill they want to move the patients around like a chess board , and they create an "assessement" that changes according to their needs -- If they need more spaces opened up in assisted living ($8,500 per month or more ) they will "asssess" the patient making them appear to need a higher level of care ($11,000 per month ) and there is pretty much nothing the family can do , other than pull them out of charter house. The lower level staff is good, but dealing with upper management is hell. Any family member dealing with Charter house MUST get an ombudsman or lawyer to assist with these monsters

The company has 4 main businesses: International Quality Homecare, International PCA Services, Omega Medical Supply, and Alpha Services Company. As an employee at one of their locations, I experienced first hand, snide and disrespectful communication and attitudes from management, not to mention favoritism, cliques, and outright threats from Human Resources (documentation is on file). I would not recommend them for employment or receiving services (as there are complaints from clients as well).

I have a parent that was receiving care from a rude and disrespectful full-time nurse (Gail) out of the Austin, MN branch. She was told not to come before a certain time (on several occasions), but she comes whenever she feels like it. Another worker was there and was overheard telling her that, but she blew them off and continues to do what is convenient for her and not what the patient wishes. A call was made to the Rochester Corporate Office where a complaint was made, but the lady that answered the phone (Leslie), wouldn't even give me her name until I pressed the issue. She was very deflective of my complaints and I don't feel she took them serious or even escalated the complaint. All, I know is that I would not want to talk with her again! After the fact, I did find other negative reviews and we should have read them before deciding to use them. However, the uptake is that we decided to go with another competing agency where we receive better care and attention to our wishes.

I was sent over there for rehab after hospital release. Twenty minutes into my stay, alarms go off…read moreall over the place. I hear two men talking as they walk down the hall. It seems the recurring problem with alarms is that the sensors on the doors have yet to be fixed FOR THREE YEARS! Strike one! Overheard staff conversation at the front desk: 32 patients Two (2) staff! Strike two! Talked with one of the residents when everyone was turned out in the hallways because of the bad door alarms. An elderly gentleman warned me point blank not to stay because "Life here is lousy and everyone is just waiting for you to die." STRIKE 3!! I refused registration, picked up my bags and went home. Consider yourself warned!
